In “Charlotte’s Web” by E. B. White, the great theme for the book evolved around love and unlikely friendships. Wilbur was able to avoid his destined fate of death through the love of Fern and Charlotte. The moment Fern saw Wilbur, she knew he couldn’t die. With her father’s grace, she was able to take of Wilbur until he went to her uncle’s house down the street. It was there, Wilbur met Charlotte and it was there, the spider and the pig created an unlikely bond. Charlotte was like a mother figure for Wilbur, she always had his best interest at heart. Charlotte showed that by saving Wilbur’s life, she created a master plan to web words in her web to make an attraction so Wilbur can look like: “some pig, humble, terrific, and radiant.” By doing this, Wilbur was viewed as an exceptional pig who couldn’t be put to death. There was something special about him and Charlotte created it all. A point in the book where we can see their unlikely friendship is when Charlotte tried to teach Wilbur how to spin a web. He was unsuccessful in his attempt because a pig cannot spin a web. This is a part in …show more content…
The language is simplistic and not too challenging. One of the greatest aspect of this book that I loved was that the language connected to the mood and whether of the book. “Charlotte’s Web”, transitioned through all the seasons and mood relate to a season. If it was spring/summer, words used would be upbeat happy and hopefully words. If it was winter/fall, the words words used are gloomy, sad, and hopeless. For example, Chapter 6 in Charlotte’s Web is titled, “Summer Days,” a passage from this chapter states “You know how summer rocks? Well, it rocks on a farm, too, especially now that Fern is off from school and gets to visit Wilbur more. Plus, the birds are singing and flowers are growing.” Here we see the happy and hopefully words about the feelings of
In remembering her seventh-grade class in 1965, Charlotte recalls how much she and her friends loved Miss Hancock. They were "backward" because they "had not yet embraced sophistication, boredom, cruelty, drugs, alcohol, or sex." Because of their innocence and their sheltered environments, Miss Hancock "was able to survive, even flourish" as their teacher. Charlotte recalls when Miss Hancock read poetry aloud, the class "sat bewitched, transformed," and they were "drugged by some words as some children are by electronic games." This description juxtaposes the end of the short story. Miss Hancock's teaching career no longer inspired the children because they were no longer the broad-minded, influenceable children they once were. Nostalgia eats away at Miss Hancock, especially in the case of Charlotte. Once so inspired by the composure of a metaphor, “grown up” Charlotte, when asked if she still wrote metaphors responded, “oh, I dunno.” Miss Hancock once knew the mesmerizing and transformative power of words; however, as she and her students aged the words lost their power, in turn she too lost power.
Spiders are cold-blooded and always occupy dark corners, capturing insects; while pigs are mammals that are used to living under warm sunlight and hoping to be fed. See the difference? However, this story conveys to us a message that a sincere friendship will not be wavered by external factors such as nationalities, religions and family backgrounds. Charlotte and Wilbur are good examples. Charlotte, although feeling weary and is about to lay eggs, comes with Wilbur
The website that I selected for evaluation is http://www.marchofdimes.org/, and I chose this site due to the fact that I currently work in the neonatal intensive care nurse. The domain for the website is .org, and my reason for selecting this site is the fact that I have referred to this source in the past when doing projects for work requiring data and statistics. The mission of the “March of Dimes” is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality (Mission | March of Dimes. (n.d.). Charlotte's Web is the story of Wilbur the pig and his friendship with Fern Arable, and his friend Charlotte the spider. Wilbur, the story's main character, is born the runt of a litter of pigs and Ferns father thought he was too weak to live until Fern decides to take care of him. She raises him to be a healthy pig but has to give him away later. When he gets to his new home
The poem seems to be directed toward parents who might relate to Wilbur as they watch their children grow up. Likewise, the poem might also be directed at young people, who will inevitably undergo a journey similar to that of Wilbur’s daughter in the poem – fraught with many ups and downs, and hopefully the triumph that the

After, having his life saved by Fern Wilbur is put in a pig pin where he meet’s charolette. Charolette respresents the mothering instinct in this novel. Charolette spends most of the novel trying to teach Wilbur how to act, spinning words in her web to protect him, and staying endlessly exhausted to take care of Wilbur. Charolette teaches Wilbur how to act around others and encourages him to go out and make friends with the other animals. After, being rejected by multiple animals charolette looks to cheer Wilbur up by making him feel better by writing words in her web that would build his confidence, such as extraordinary, excellent. This is a a great example of Charolettes mothering instinct kicking in. The desire to make someone she cares

Since MeadWestVaco completed their merger with Rock-Tenn, the new combined company is probably the closest competitor in terms of types of products (Geiger, 2015). This makes it a good company to compare websites to our own at www.internationalpaper.com. The new combined company known as WestRock still uses the web address of www.rocktenn.com but they also have www.WestRock.com and their website is full of colors and looks bright and fresh in contrast to International Paper’s website which uses more muted colors and looks a bit more dated in the design style. I will say that I think the older style of IPs website is more suited to the amount of information shown, where WestRock’s site takes advantage of colors and pictures to deemphasize the scarcity of text and detailed information.
Words are more than just letters that strung together. In a way, they are powerful words that can create emotions that excite, bore, and thrill. Words are perceptions and influences. In Charlotte Web, the talk about killing Wilbur terrified him, thus he asked Charlotte, whom he loved and trusted to saved his life. In the novel, what does it have to says about the power of perception? What does Charlotte understand when she devises the plan to save Wilbur? In other words, why does her plan work?
Every time my mother read the book to me, I felt as if we were transported into a whole new world. Chris Van Allsburg’s writing allowed for me to feel a connection with each of the characters in the story. His writing style also kept me wanting to know more with every turn of the page and it kept me at the edge of my seat wanting to know what would happen to the broom and the widow. Among all of his works, Chris Van Allsburg creates a strong, fictional narrative that gives the reader something to fall in love with and connect with. For me growing up, I was able to connect with The Widow’s Broom, which was key in my growth to loving to read later in
She sees a lot of it as meaningless and boring. To her, Charlie is the answer. She views life through very romantic and naive lenses, initially. She is practically worshipful of her uncle, feeling that he can do no wrong and everything is brighter because of his presence. Charles brings a new view into Charlotte’s world.
Friendship is boundless. E.B. White’s Charlotte’s Web is a beautiful illustration of how friendship goes beyond our expectations. Although Charlotte’s Web is a children’s novel, it clearly demonstrates what true friendship looks like and how it can shape one’s life. A young pig named Wilbur, alone in the barn and destined to become Christmas dinner, meets
It seems to me we have no ordinary spider” (Lombardi). Charlotte was able to weave words into her webs that saved Wilbur's life, but spiders can not do this in real life. In this part of his novel, Fern’s father (Mr. Arable) is explaining that to his wife that they do not have an ordinary spider in their barn they have a rare one. Wilbur feels isolated after the death of Charlotte, Wilbur says, "No one was with her when she died” (Lombardi). After the death of Charlotte, Wilbur was devastated. In this story, no one could save Charlotte. After she laid her eggs in a sack she made, she automatically became weak right after. The very next day she passed away. In this book, emotions are provoked when, "Wilbur didn't want food, he wanted love." (Lombardi). This is shown that he would rather starve to feel loved or to be cared about by a spider because he felt heartbroken. In this novel, it contains nonfiction and is it also autobiographical. Throughout this novel, nonfiction occurs when,"Fern says the animals talk to each other. Dr. Dorian, do you believe animals talk?" I never heard one say anything," he replied. "But that proves nothing. It is quite possible that an animal has spoken to me and that I didn't catch the remark because I wasn't paying attention. Children pay better attention than grown-ups... Perhaps if people talked less, animals would talk more" (Unknown). In this part of the novel, Fern is talking to her therapist to see if there was something wrong with her because she could actually communicate with the
