While on patrol, I was heading northbound on North Three Notch Street. While traveling, I observed a burgundy Chevy Tahoe traveling southbound in the northbound side of traffic, approaching my patrol vehicle. To keep from being involed in a head on collision, I pulled my patrol vehicle into the Sunoco on North Three Notch Street. I then engaged my lights and siren and attempt to catch up to the violator vehicle. The Tahoe then pulled into the Piggly Wiggly parking lot and that was the final. I then identified the driver as William Anthony Thomas. I advised Thomas that he alost hit me head on and he stated, "I'm sorry, I am too fucked up." Thomas had an strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his expelled breath. Thomas also had red glossy eyes. I then advised Thomas multiple times to step out of the vehicle to perform FST's. Thomas then advised that this isn't his first DUI so he wasn’t going to perform any FST's. Thomas was advised that he was going to be placed under arrest if he didn’t performed the test. I then asked Thomas again, "do you want to perform field soubriety test." Thomas then shook his head and said, "no." This is Mr. Hartshorn’s 1st DUI conviction; there are no others located in his history. Mr. Hartshorn accepts and takes responsibility for his actions that evening. Mr. Hartshorn does not believe he has a problem with alcohol. He states that he had been drinking twice a week but does not see it as a problem since he has stopped before. He advised that he has consumed alcohol since the incident, most recently around two and a half weeks ago. This was discussed with him in great detail. Based on the above information, his history, and what he reported, it is this officer’s opinion that there may be a need for a structured treatment program, and it would be a benefit to Mr. Hartshorn that he obtain an in-depth substance abuse evaluation.
On Friday, February 27th, 2016 at approximately 2345 hrs while driving a Midland Police vehicle and wearing a standard issued MPD uniform FTO Vining and PPO Jimenez were facing a stop sing located in the 200 blk of West Florida when PPO Jimenez observed a white Ford F-150(TXLP-ICASH) made an improper right turn in the approximately 300 blk of West Florida. PPO Jimenez made contact with the driver who was identified as Manuel Galindo Garduno. Upon contacting the driver PPO Jimenez identified that Garduno had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. PPO Jimenez was also able to observe a case of beer in the front passenger seat that it seemed to be opened.

Sorry for my late posting today, but there was a late night incident that awoke the entire block with a rude awakening. At approximately 1:00AM, a loud crash happened. A parked car was hit severely and pushed a good ten feet from where it sat. The DUI suspect's car was down at the other end of the block disabled. Police were called and an arrest was made by Lt. Received a phone call from Borough Manager informing me that a James Rusin is looking to speak with a police officer in reference to a hit and run. Contacted Rusin at the number which was provided to me. Rusin said while at work he discovered damage on corner of the rear bumper on the driver's side. The arrest report states that officer Matthew Belmonte observed Ayers make a right hand turn onto Gandy Boulevard at approximately 3 p.m. on February 3rd, 2014. His actions caused traffic going westbound to have to take evasive action. At the time of the traffic stop, Ayers was allegedly slurring his speech, had the odor of alcohol on this breath and presented with glassy and red eyes. Although Ayers had had a drink a few hours prior, it was not believed to be enough to cause him to have the smell of alcohol on his breath or cause the symptoms noted by Officer Belmonte.
On Thursday, August 18, 2016 Sandy Mitchell Hadley II, age 20 and Sara Shea Williams age 18 was driving 2011 Nissan 370Z crashed into a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe were pronounced dead. The Tahoe passengers along with a three year old were sent to South Baldwin Hospital for minor injuries. Officer Davis said that Hadley clocked going 70 miles per hour on the express way.
