Chewbacca resumed his life story at age 36. This falls between middle adulthood and in Erikson’s Generativity vs. Stagnation Theory. Chewbacca was currently working in one of my favorite places to visit, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York City. He worked as an unarmed security officer in the day hours along with my father. During this age period, adults establish their major priories such as careers, and families. Mark got married to his wife Mary Jagmohan and had one daughter in 1992. Mark is very proud of his daughter and feels as she was the success of his life. If Chewbacca did not have his daughter he would have felt unproductive and there have become stagnant. Instead he was lead to the feeling of the benefit of care.
After Mr. and Mrs. Morrison’s accident you see how the Morrison children start to shape themselves due to the circumstances. Before the death of the Morrison parents Luke was quite distant with his other siblings, he didn’t have many conversations with them, or he wouldn’t hold his youngest sister Bo. However after the accident Luke feels like it’s his responsibility to take care of his younger siblings. He did all he could to keep his siblings together and take care of them, although it was a long bumpy
he was 13 years old, in the year 1977, where he watched the film Star Wars 21 times. But the
“ The force will be with you, always.” This is advice given to Luke Skywalker by his mentor Obi Wan Kenobi. In the archetypal hero’s journey a wise and experienced mentor such as Obi Wan will often help guide or offer advice to the youthful and budding hero. Throughout time and across different cultures there are certain symbols, events and characters which can be found in literature and Star Wars IV: A New Hope follows this trend step by step. During the film Star Wars IV: A New Hope, the main protagonist Luke undergoes a stereotypical, or in literary terms an archetypal hero’s journey. Luke starts from humble beginnings and when he is called upon to save the galaxy; he then faces various tests which help him hone skills that he will need for the final life or death battle.
Star War hate it or love it, it has captured the minds and imaginations of millions of people. I remember watching Episode IV A New Hope when I was a little kid and was memorized by it. Loving everything about the movie from space travel to the mystery of the force. But now I lost all hope in Star Wars after the last two newest movies which are The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. In A New Hope you can actually see the journey of the hero, which follows Luke’s Journey from being a teenager to a man by the actions he took throughout the movie. In the new movie the force awakens Rey is supposed to be the hero and has to experience events in her life like Luke that will change her to be a hero that she was born to be. Yet after watching the newest movies I feel like there wasn’t much of the hero’s journey, and that they gave her powers that seem unrealistic for her level of training. Even Anakin Skywalker “the chosen one” had to train for years and he was barely able to fight legendary fighters like Count Dooku or Obi-Wan Kenobi.
George Lucas was a very credible director because he was influenced by the small town he grew up in Modesto. According to The Secret History of Star Wars, “Lucas’ father felt that George never quite measured up to his ideals of what a good son should be.” (Kiminski 9) Lucas seems to be comparing himself to the main character in Star Wars: A New Hope, Luke Skywalker. Both Luke and Lucas grew up in small towns, didn’t have a strong relationship with their father (or in Luke’s case, didn’t know their father), and they both thought they would never leave the small town they resided in.
He races home to find his family dead and nothing left but becoming a jedi (A New Hope Scene-by-scene. Web. 2010). In an effort to get to the Princesses planet they go to the Cantina, a bar filled with scam artist, where the find Han Solo and his co-pilot Chewbacca. Once they’ve settled on a payment their journey begins. What Obi-Wan and Luke don’t know is that in an effort to get Leia to talk Darth threatens and then follow through with blowing up her home planet.(Web. SparkNotes.com. Star Wars Episodes iv-vi. 2014) Eventually Han’s ship is pulled up by Darth’s and then they are forced to fight their way out. Obi-Wan encounters and allows Darth to defeat him, meanwhile Leia is rescued by Han, Luke, and the others. Without Obi-Wan but the rescue of the Princess the only thing left to do is defeat Darth’s ship, the Death Star. Against all odds and the discovery of the force Luke blows it up and is later awarded for heroic nature, as is Han and Chewbacca, ending the first of the epic series.
The Stroop effect is demonstrated by the reaction time to determine a color when the color is printed in a different color’s name. Participants respond slower or make more errors when the meaning of the word is incongruent with the color of the word. Despite knowing the meaning of the word, participants showed incapability of ignoring the stimulus attribute. This reflects a clear instance of semantic interference and an unfathomed failure of selective attention (Stroop, 1935).
Luke Skywalker chooses to join Obi Wan Kenobi, and through their journey Luke was changed from a parentless boy to a Jedi in training (Star Wars IV). One of the biggest parts in a Hero’s Journey is the life changing event that causes the hero to leave his home in the first place. When Luke’s aunt and uncle are killed, he is alone and has no reason to stay on his home planet of Tatooine so goes with Obi Wan. He changes his whole life around in a very short period of time, like his master, all he has left is his training. Both Romeo and Juliet changed their lives around for each other, even though it resulted in death (Shakespeare). The feuding families could never know about their children’s relationship because they hadn’t adjusted to the idea of ending their fighting and still hated each other. Romeo went first and Juliet followed behind and the death toll went up, if the families had changed their views toward each other , no one would have lost their lives. Those who are open to change, will be introduced to many life altering
Attention is thought to be selective-focused on one subject at a time. Traditionally, it has been assumed that automatic processing is involuntary, it does not require attention, and is relatively fast; whereas, controlled processing is voluntary, does require attention, and is relatively slow. We can conclude from this that the more we repeat a certain material or tasks the more it becomes automatic and effortless to us.
Forrest Gump is an exceptional movie that includes a wide range variety of character diversity. Upon my examination of the movie, the first aspect I’d like to deliberate on is the developmental psychology of early adulthood. In the early adulthood life stage, individuals are typically between the ages of 20 and 35. Individuals in the early adulthood life stage are more than likely to possess good health, live a healthy active life, and are career oriented. Early adulthood life stage focuses on the formal cognitive stage, though there is much deliberation among many developmentalists.
Imagine a society in which the main law is the population law. In the novel “Among the Hidden” by Margaret Peterson Haddix, the population law determines that a family may only consist of four people. But in the Garner’s house they didn’t play by the rules, instead they had a third child, Luke. He hides and lives in the attic. But when the “population police” arrive Luke hides in the basement.
Luke’s journey starts when he is inside the millennium falcon with Han Solo, Chewy, Obi-wan, R2-D2, and C3-P0. During this event, they soon come to see a planet, which turned out not be a planet, but to be the Death Star. The Death Star we soon find out is the ship of Darth Vader. Han Solo tries to turn around but it is too late. They are soon entering the Death Star. When they get inside, they hear that Princess Leia, the woman from the video message, is trapped in a prison cell and is due to be executed. This is one of the first obstacles for the team, because now they have to rescue Princess Leia from her death, but it isn’t as hard as they think. Luke and Han Solo come up with the idea to wear the Storm Trooper uniforms, the uniforms of the “military defense” of the Death Star. Luke is able to sneak into the cell where Leia is kept, and therefore completes his first obstacle, but there are many more to come. After rescuing Leia, she then becomes one of his allies, and will help him later in the movie. The next and probably the most substantial challenge that the group faces is to escape with the Death Star with the layout of the Death Star inside of R2-D2. While trying to do this they are all being shot at by Storm Troopers, but they were still able to escape. Well almost all of them. Obi-wan Kenobi sacrificed himself to Darth Vader so the others could escape the Death Star. This then leads to the final confrontation, with the outline of the Death Star, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Chewy, C3-PO, R2-D2, and Princess Leia, have to figure out a way to attack the Death Star. Luke is in an X-Wing Fighter Plane and he makes the last shot, therefore blowing up the Death Star and everyone inside. In conclusion, Luke Skywalker is the perfect example of a hero because he shows the second step of the hero’s journey
I feel like Hick’s theory is a valid explanation for God allowing evil in the world, because it shows a progression for humans into either evil lusts or the connection with God and his goal for our eternal salvation. In this theory, God allows us to choose to follow our sinful nature, and this route is so easy. The devil makes sure we have plenty of temptation throughout our days, months, years, and lifetime. When we want to follow God’s word and not look at the opposite sex with a lustful thought, guess what, the devil will cause some unknown soul to cross your path. It’s up to us to no dwell on the thought, because the sin is in the thought. I believe that the devil uses sinful souls, as puppets, to tempt people. We all have our weaknesses
In just the course of A New Hope, Luke’s character changes immensely. The critical incident that sparks a change of his
Next, Malala’s family pursued their Islamic and Pashtun ways. Although they were not as extreme with their religion as others, they never gave up believing what they thought was true. They believed in reciting the prayers five times a day, reading the Quran and many other Islamic practices. Many others living in Pakistan at the time took these practices to an extreme, but Malala's family practiced their religion the way most people would practice any other belief. An example is found on page 73, "He did not believe in Badal- revenge - and would try to make people see that neither side had anything to gain from continuing the violence, and it would be better for them to get on with their lives." They did not always follow all the ways of their
