Public relation employees have the duty to deal with potential issues or scandals that have already occurred. Chick-fil-A is a successful company who got in a bit of trouble when President Dan Cathy released a statement regarding the definition of marriage. This statement angered many people and caused attention to the media. There were protests, opinions, and much more that Chick-fil-A had to deal with. They released the statement for all their publics to view. Chick-fil-A did not do too much during this scandal other than stay true to their values and release statements supporting the nuclear family and their Christian values. Chick-fil-A lost customers, but at the end of the day their profits grew from previous years of business. Chick-fil-A is fast-food, chain restaurant unlike other fast-food franchises. Chick-fil-A has been a family-owned, private-held business since it opened in the early 1960s (“Facts and History…”). Also, another unique part of Chick-fil-A is that they are closed on Sundays so employees can have a day of rest or “worship if they choose to do so ("Closed on Sundays…”).” It all started with a man named Truett Cathy when he opened the Dwarf Grill in Hapeville, Georgia. Dwarf Grill was Cathy’s original restaurant and is still open today with the addition of Chick-fil-A products on the menu (“Facts and History…”).
