Observation:
For my observation on daily health checks, I got the opportunity to arrive early at 8:30 A.M. during arrival for my class and physically witnessed the health checks. I saw first-hand how the teacher took about two minutes to greet the child and parent and ask a few questions about the child’s well-being questions like: “How are you feeling today?” In addition to the physical daily health checks, I noticed the minute I entered the school area that there where posters about the process of daily health checks and other ones like a “keep your child at home” poster in the check in area, and the front doors of each classroom. The final thing I observed was that the check in area is at the front desk and unless the child is checked in by a parent or guardian and received by their teacher

Next, the main care taker of the child also made sure to take time to discuss the well-being of each child after the parent of the child was cleared at the front desk for check-in. Furthermore, it compares to a few of the practices described in the textbook for example, the program did have daily physical health checks up to at least 2 minutes long, they informed the families, and as I observed the classroom I noticed the main care taker would constantly observe children who had been absent during that week due to an illness. Therefore, this health practice, for daily health checks, influences the quality of the program because children’s well-being is always a main priority and the safety of others. In my opinion, this program takes the regulation of health checks very seriously, which I came to appreciate a lot. In addition, this health practice would support the child’s and other children’s physical development by keeping ill children from coming in close contact with other children and spreading the illness and it will also protect their own physical development by allowing their body to heal and rest when the child is sent home. Second, this
My observations both did and did not reflect what I learned in this course. This could be due to the fact that this daycare center may not be the best learning environment. A perfect daycare center would be everything that is described in the Petersen & Wittmer text, but how often do you get somewhere that is perfect? I feel my quality could have been better for this observation because I filled out of checklist with a majority of it is “NA.” I wish I would have had this checklist when I started my observations. I could have tested some of them with the children to make it more accurate. Since I do work at this daycare, I used my background knowledge as well as my observation sheets to fill out this checklist. My observations could have been
The Kids Learning Centre is a privately-owned day care facility and non-formal educational institution for children up to 12 years old. It is located at the heart of the City of Downtown, just behind The Business Building, a convenient place where parents and guardians can drop off their children safely. It operates from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM daily, and closes only during major holidays.
Through interviewing Joyce I gained insight into a strong philosophy, leadership style, and how her background experiences have created the director she is today. When deciding to become a director of a daycare, there are two options: opening and owning your own center or directing an established or corporate owned daycare. While I have done much research on owning my own daycare, I have little experience about what it would be like to be the director of an established center. Financial responsibilities and budgeting are also two aspects that are important, but the level of responsibility is drastically different in each scenario. Lastly, legal and ethical responsibilities exist in either scenario as well.
At Children’s Discovery Center the daycare is split into two buildings, one building is for the children in pre-school and the second building is for infants to three year olds getting ready to start pre- school. The classroom I observe is for children 18 months to 28 months. They are about fourteen children in the class with two teachers. The way the class is set up the younger students and their two teachers share one classroom, but the teachers and their toddlers are not in the same room until lunch time and nap time. The classroom has a kitchen, reading area, girls and boys bathroom, activity tables and there is a connecting room for the children to have bible time and free play. The discovery center has three separate playgrounds for the
The place of observation took place at my work, before I clocked in for the day. I work at Oakwood Methodist Preschool/Daycare. I went in to the daycare at about 9:00, which is just free play/ breakfast time in the infant room. The infant room I observed in was a little different than the CDRC, because the infant room is from 7 weeks old to 18 months old. There was not really a place for me to be
Thank you for the wishes. Your presentation looks very professional. However, I was unsure to whom the presentation was aimed to: general population, researchers, or grant provider. Nevertheless, it gives the impression that it is directed to researchers. I have a suggestion: slides should provide a more broad idea or information. Is in the footnotes where you provide more detail about the slide. I also consider that if stats were presented individually with a dramatic picture, would be more striking (see attachment). However, the statistics shown in your presentation are compelling and strengthen the message of carrying further research for developing more interventions for children in foster care. I wish you the best of success in your career
The 24-year-old mother went to the extreme, starving him so badly that he didn't even weigh enough to show up on a child growth chart, weighing only 24.9 pounds, according to WTOL.
For about two years I worked as a child care provider in day cares, after school programs, and summer camps. Children are interesting subjects to observe because they are at a young age, and are full of a great deal of knowledge. However, they have so much they need to learn, and being a child care provider is more than just babysitting. My job has a certain standard I need to work up to, and this includes a whole heap of supervision. I work at a after school program at Maple Glen Elementary School; therefore, the ages of these kids vary from age five up to age twelve. Maple Glen is known to be a fairly wealthy community, and this shapes the way the children behave or orient themselves. Another factor that comes into play is that many children
Observation is very important in young children because that is how you get to know a child better. While observing how a child interacts with their peers, adults, and how they behave in different settings, you are getting to know the child without speaking to them.
Jenson physical needs are all being met as I have observed and interviewed the service provider and his mother Selina Jones. Firstly, Jensons physical needs are and how they are met are, for example a balanced diet, Jenson loves food he eats anything and everything. In pre-school they have a variety of food and all the food is all fresh quality ingredients and also they guarantee a minimum of 4 fruit and veg a day, exercise Jenson love going out side he loves running about. In the pre-school they provide many indoor and outdoor activities which give Jenson fresh air and also exercise. For exercise they also provide swimming classes. Also another example is fresh Air. The pre-school provide Jenson with fresh air by letting him play outside, also when there is an indoor activity they set up the same activity outside because some of the children prefer playing outside then inside like Jenson. They spend an hour minimum a day and sometime as long as they want outside. Furthermore, another example of a physical need which is being met is hygiene. The hygiene rate of the pre-school is excellent. In the pre-school what they do is they let the kids go toilet on their own if they haven’t wash their hands they teach them how to if they had an accident they would clean it and also for example if a person had a bug they would disinfect all the toys before and after pre-school. An additional example is protection; Jenson in the pre-school is very protected by the staff members. They have security cameras everywhere and also if for example Jenson mum couldn’t pick him up from pre-school nor could his dad then they would have a passcode. The staff would tell the parents the passcode the parents would tell the passcode to whoever is going pick them up and the guardian who is going to pick them up will have to say to a staff the passcode and then they will be able to take Jenson home. Shelter is
On Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 1955 hours I was dispatched to the Rite Aid for a welfare check. Schuylkill County Communications advised me, it was reported that there was a female leaning against the wall at the Rite Aid shaking and moving back and forth. County advised me the female was wearing a black coat and gray pants.
CPS observed the child wearing a blue shirt and a blue pants. CPS asked the child how she was doing. The child reported good. CPS asked the child how was her Christmas. The child reported good and showed CPS her toys. CPS observed the child wearing clean clothes. CPS observed the child free of suspicious marks and bruises.
The table above provides a reader with the Functional Health Pattern Assessment of three age groups, such as toddler, preschool and school age children. Developing from toddler’s years to the school age, every child needs an emotional and psychological support from their parents. They need to feel safe and loved at home. All these groups undergo fast paced development process. In order to avoid confusion in children, they need to follow a consistent routine at home such as using basic skill of handwashing and teeth brushing. Children need a positive influence and instructive feedback from the parents throughout all stages. This will develop self-esteem and self-confidence in children.

During my observations, I noticed the daycare staff did an amazing job taking a holistic approach towards the children’s wellness. The teacher made sure the children had good health and nutrition. The educator made the kids wash their hands before eating snacks. They had to sing their ABC’s while do it, so they would wash their hands long enough. Each child participated in a physical activity while in the open area, called the bicycle room. The children were taking turns riding the bicycles. That presented the teacher made sure the kids were healthy and physical. While I was observing I had a slight cold, but the children did not. It amazed me that out of all the children who was there, not one kid was sick. For lunch the children had oranges, pizza, and chocolate milk. The teachers feed the children a snack about every two hours, and they eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Also, throughout the day, if a child puts their fingers in their mouth, they have to wash their
