Child Observation Paper Jeremy is an 18-month-old boy of Jemez Pueblo decent. Jeremy currently resides with his mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great grandfather, 3-year-old sister and 2-week-old brother. Jeremy’s mother walked over and told Jeremy he needed to share and explained to Jeremy that he made his cousin cry. Jeremy looked at his cousin and actually walked over and gave the toy back to her and proceeded to run around again. I was amazed that a child of only 18 months would give in so quickly. Jeremy’s mother brought the baby into the living room. Jeremy’s sister is not happy that the baby is around and tries to hit the baby but, Jeremy sits quietly beside the baby and pets his head and starts humming. Jeremy seems to have such a sweet disposition and caring heart. There are few objective ways to rate one’s own characteristics, abilities and values, and children often turn to other people, particularly to peers for help (Parke & Gauvain, 2009).
Biological development Jeremy’s biological development has progressed exactly the way it should. I observed him interacting with his family. I was able to observe that he could process information and react to it in an acceptable manner. He was also walking, running, bending and performing many other tasks that a child his age should. He displayed good motor skills and development. Good nutrition is critical for proper development from infancy to adolescent (Parke & Gauvain, 2009). In Jeremy’s house, nutrition is very important. I did not see any of the children eating snacks or sugary sweets. Jeremy eats a lot of vegetables and fruit in his home.
