Domestic violence programs encourage young girls in school to face challenges aggressively in their daily activities especially those concerned with gender inequality. Although, boys are sometime less enthusiastic in matters of empowering girls in the society, girls find it interesting since they are armed to face gender violation head-on without much ado considering that, they have enrolled as members of gender violation program (Humphreys & Stanley, 2006). While researching what effective programs for children, youth, and families look like I came across several interesting concepts. Many of the program's main goal was to empower their participants and make sure that they came out of the program with more knowledge. There were also programs that wanted to teach their participants about safety as well as how to improve their attitudes. There seems to be such a variety in programs but from what I could tell each program really wanted to improve the lives of children and families. All the programs that I looked at had a goal of providing people with helpful information that could further improve their lives.

Every day, about five children in the United States are murdered by a parent or caretaker. In 2014, more than 3 million reports of child abuse were made in the United States involving more than 6 million children. Child abuse kills more children in America than does accidental falls, choking on food, suffocation, or fires in the home (Newton). As if these statistics weren’t horrifying enough, they are inaccurate in relaying the actual number of children that have fallen victim to child abuse in the United States.

UNICEF summarized these concerns by stating, “All children have the right to be protected from violence, exploitation and abuse and yet millions of children worldwide from all socioeconomic backgrounds, across all ages, religious and cultures suffer violence, exploitation and abuse every day” (UNICEF, 2010). Though there is a common misconception that individuals who abuse children come from bad or low income families per se, the truth is that the perpetrators come from all walks of life with the parents making the majority of child abusers.

Domestic violence is a form of gender-based assault (Hester, 2011) in which numerous children are involved as the victims of domestic attack (Laing and Humphreys, 2013). The intersectional issue between domestic violence and child abuse becomes a controversial problem for both the domestic violence workers and child protection workers. As Hester (2011) indicates, the intervention approach for domestic violence incident focuses on the men’s violence against women. It attempts to support the battered female as the center of the interventional plan, which advocates for gender equality between the male and female. However, child protection workers pay mostly focus on the children and are always been criticized for ignoring the gender inequality of the domestic violence and blame the mother of the maltreated children (Laing and Humphreys, 2013). The innovate social work program I selected for the term paper is Futures Without Violence. The program’s mission is to end violence against women and children around the world. I selected this topic for the reason that I would like to work with this population. Many women of all age groups can experience many forms of violence and many need an advocate to give them a voice. I can also educate women and teach them about using their resources. Violence against women not only effects victims but also the witnesses and bystanders.

Violence against women begins in childhood and is mainly there that bullying is performed. In childhood is vulnerable to abuse and these children suffer from their condition, this is a global problem which often do not transcend beyond the limits of the family, the child suffers violence in silence, ashamed and guilt.

Each child has the privilege to education and the advantages it brings. In the developing world, a training can change a youngster 's life and help to break the cycle of poverty. In recent decades, global development efforts have focused on enrolling all children in primary school. Today, the test is to guarantee that kids can stay in school and advantage from a quality education. A major barrier to the achievement of quality education is the existence of gender-based violence in and around schools. School-related gender-based violence (SRGBV) refers to acts of sexual, physical or psychological violence inflicted on children in and around schools because of stereotypes and roles or norms attributed to or expected of them because of their sex or gendered identity. Jim Lampinen holds a PhD in cognitive psychology. Kathy Sexton- Radek is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Illinois. Violence against children is a phenomenon happening worldwide, in forms of physical, psychological violence. Children are deprived of care, basic social services, health care and education, child abuse, neglect, exploitation, forced to beg, trafficked. Children are still one of the social groups at risk, facing many problems that remain unresolved. Although the consequences may vary according to the type and severity of the violence, the short and long-term consequences for children are very often serious and destructive and are costly. The laws that protect children’s rights are often not effective.

Global Health Science and Practice recently published an article on "Preventing Peer Violence Against Children." The impetus for this research is the fact that, "Violence against and among children is a global public health problem that annually affects 50% of your worldwide with major impacts on child development, education, and health including increased probability of major causes of morbidity and mortality in adulthood. It is also associated with the experience of and perpetration of later violence against women" ("McFarlane, 2017).

Some of the main goals of UNICEF are Child Protection/Social Inclusion, Child Survival and Education. Child Protection is a critical goal in the world. Girls and boys are sensitive to abuse either by gender, race, or ethnic backgrounds. There is no discrimination in abuse, whether it be mental or physical. The rate of abuse is higher for children who are disabled or are orphaned. Most of these cases are rarely sought out, most kids are usually too scared to talk about what happened or even tell someone they know about the crimes that are occurring. This is because of the fact that most abuse is done by close family members or people they know. Sometimes, it even occurs in the school or workplaces (“Child”). There are many countries in poverty around the world. The UNICEF organization helps raise money to ensure the protection, safety, and education of children in over 100 countries.

Children have the right to be protected from abuse. Parents are the ones who rear their children and protect them from any abuse, and should not neglect their rights. The major challenges facing child protection in the current century include HIV/AIDS pandemic, poverty that can be financial or psychological and wars, especially in Africa continent. Therefore, children who have no families or undergo difficult family situations such as extreme poverty levels or family problems are given special care by society intervention, which its basis should be strong and done with high professional standards. Community will hence be responsible for such children and will take full responsibility for the children (Ritcher et al, 2004, p 174).
