In many jurisdictions, a child is defined as one who has not attained the age of majority. Nevertheless, it is important to note that the majority age varies from country to country. Religiously, a child is perceived as a gift. Children ought to be provided for all the basic necessities that are sufficient their survival. According to the Section 3 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the best interests of the child ought to prevail under all circumstances. Child abuse does not fall under the best interest principle thereby requiring the perpetrators of such acts to face the wrath of the law.
