Heart Disease, high blood pressure, obesity and diabetes are just a few of the life threatening diseases that can be an effect of lack of exercise. These diseases and many more can be easily prevented with daily exercise. Developing a habit of daily exercise should be instilled into everyone, including children, to help form a strong exercise foundation. Research shows that the benefits of exercise reach far beyond the physical aspect of exercise. People tend to feel better physically, emotionally and their confidence levels begin to rise. According to The Effects of Exercise,” exercise distracts and relaxes you for a while, because when you exercise, you are discharging many feelings and incommodities, such as stress.” (Effects of Exercise 4) As well as everyone knows, some of the most stressful times in our lives can occur during childhood. Children spend about one thousand two hundred and eighty hours a year sedentarily in school, which is about seven hours day. Children should do about sixty minutes or more of exercise daily per the Center for Disease Control (Childhood Obesity 2). Because the obesity rate is rapidly increasing year after year, the pressure is on to find ways to decrease obesity in America. Since daily exercise will help prevent obesity and establish a good foundation for a healthy lifestyle, there should be more physical education requirement in schools.
In our society today one of the most difficult problems we are facing is the large numbers of obesity in our children. One of the major factors in that is this; our children have become less physically active. At an early age children start watching TV, learn how to operate a computer, and play video games. Having technological skills is now a necessity in all of our lives because everything has turned "computerized," but the fact is that our children are relying on these types of entertainment rather than getting up and physically exercising to entertain them selves. This directly affects the large number of obese children in our country today because of the lack of physical exercise. It is not that we want our kids to look a certain way
It is a well-documented fact that all individuals need to be physically active to prevent adverse health consequences and to maintain optimal health and fitness levels. Now Is the Time to Commit to Be Fit Ashley J. Schroeder Denver College of Nursing Now Is the Time to Commit to Be Fit Self-care is important for every person. Taking the time to do activities and engaging in behaviors that make one happy is vital to health. One of those activities could be exercising, which has many health benefits that contribute to a person’s overall health. There are obvious benefits that many people consider when thinking about exercise, such as weight management, strengthening bones and muscles, as well as reducing the risk of developing cardiovascular disease; however, there are other advantages that are not as obvious which can positively impact overall health. Some of these advantages include decreasing depression, preventing metabolic disorders and some cancers, improving memory, and decreasing stress. It can sometimes be a struggle for people to exercise on a daily basis due to time constraints, prior engagements, or work, but by dedicating some time every week to getting in some form of exercise, the benefits of exercise can be achieved. Self-care by means of exercising is valuable because of the advantages that come from engaging in it, which reveals that it should be integrated in the nursing practice by teaching patients about these benefits.
In today’s society many people lack the proper nutrition and health fitness that our body needs on a daily basis. As we are challenged everyday with different activities we take on, we are also challenged with technology. Technology not only has changed psychological parts of life, but the historical and sociological parts of life as well. How can we implement more physical activity? That’s a great question. Many people seem to forget their charger when they go out, or either on their phone so much while enjoying a night out on the town that they are always loosing a charge.
