Robbed Innocence:
Children as Instruments of War
Claim: Those so-called “child soldiers” shouldn’t be held accountable for their actions, because they are just innocent souls that are fighting in wars filled with violent, horrific and extremely dangerous incidents and sights, which shapes them into powerless and nameless individuals who are in a position where they have no logical awareness of.
R1: Child soldiers are not morally responsible for their actions because countless numbers of those children are usually taken at a very young age, meaning they are stripped of their childhood, exposed to deaths and slaughters all beforehand becoming aware of what’s wrong or right.
R2: They should be seen as victims and not criminals because they are often enforced into warfare as they are easy to manipulate and are obedient, thus they have little to no choice over whether or not they join.
R3: The people who take those child soldiers also use the power of drugs and alcohol to make those innocent children more obedient and submissive, and to enable them to commit acts they would not ordinarily commit.
Objection: Some think that child soldiers benefit their country in terms of defense as many view them as protectors of their land and country. Many believe that these
