Children of Men Film Essay

Trainspotting presents an ostensible image of fractured society. The 1996 film opens, famously, with a series of postulated choices—variables, essentially, in the delineation of identity and opposition. The movie The Breakfast Club was released in 1985, and is based on a group of five high school students from stereotypical cliques; the popular, jock, nerd and the outcasts, who all wind up stuck together for Saturday detention. Throughout the movie many themes present themselves such as teenage rebellion, peer pressure and family issues as the students get to know each other. The most prominent theme throughout the movie is the student’s placement in the social structure of the school. From the very different reasons why they are in detention to the way that they are all treated differently by the principle, their social placement is evident.

The film is set in England in 2027 and humanity has become infertile. Every other society has collapsed due to dwindling populations with many migrating to England a former activist, Theo Faron (Clive Owen), agrees to help, Julian Taylor (Julianne Moore), to get Kee a miraculously pregnant woman to a sanctuary at sea. Using close textual anlysis of Children of Men, combined with an ideological critique of post 9/11 global, this analysis will demonstrate how Alfonso Cuaron’s uses the techniques of mise-en-scene show the audience a perception of reality in ways which invites them to debate the nature of contemporary society or politics .

In my own life, I have had past experiences that have affected me to be the person I am today. One example is, whenever I walked through the downtown part of Edmonton and I noticed a lot of homeless people lying around on the streets. Therefore, he tries to prove that not all people living in slums are criminals. Lastly, juror 11 struggles with others judging him because he is a European Refugee. This affected him by making him feel unconfident about himself and feels that the others jurors don't take his opinion too seriously.
