Books are often the inspiration to well known movies. However, people who love to dwell in a book find themselves frustrated while watching the movie verse. When people read the book, they create their own little movie in their minds. People use their imagination to make sense of many parts of the book. When they watch the movie they are often disappointed since it doesn’t match their expectations. Books can easily project ideas to the reader that movies cannot. It is difficult for a movie to follow a book precisely because it would be too much to sit through and watch. Therefore many scenes are cut off. Scenes that is easy to imagine but hard showing. Connecting this description to the book and movie of, The Lightning Thief. I believe …show more content…
After a while he noticed the lady had a forked tongue and her dog started to bark louder. Soon Percy realized the dog was Chimera and the lady was its mother, Echidna. It quotes on page 114, "She rolled up her denim sleeves, revealing the skin of her arm was scaly and green... The Chihuahua barked louder and with each bark it grew... The head of a lion with a blood caked mane, the body and hooves, of a giant goat, and a serpent for a tail, a ten foot long diamondback growing right out of its shaggy behind." Chimera attacked Percy and bit his leg. Its tail crashed the wall making a hole, through which Percy's sword falls out. Echidna teased him saying if he were a hero he would jump. Not knowing how to escape Percy jumps through the hole into a river, while praying for his father to protect him. Another obstacle was in chapter 17, this is where Percy and his friends face Procrustes. The scene that took place was Percy and his friends being ganged up by a group of rich kids in an alley. Running away trying to escape from them, they enter a waterbed shop. They get introduced to the owner of the shop, whose name is Crusty. He invites the kids to try out some beds. Grover tries the bed with lamps built in, while Annabeth looks at a wild safari theme bed. It quotes in pages 278-280, "Crusty snapped his fingers and said 'Ergo'. Ropes sprang from sides of the bed lashing Annabeth holding her to the mattress. …show more content…
Percy frees his friends, and chops Procrustes head off. Another challenge was in chapter 18, where they meet Cerberus, the three headed guard dog of the Underworld. The three friends reach underworld, and see the way they have to enter is behind a three headed beast. In order to pass the dog, Annabeth started playing fetch with Cerberus knowing that would distract it while they enter to see Hades. It quotes in page 314, "Annabeth gets the idea to play fetch with Cerberus using a red rubber ball she stole from a gift store... Cerberus doesn't get to play very much as he guards the entrance to Hades, watching dead people walk around him all day." Annabeth plays fetch with Cerberus, until she throws the ball very distant to give them time to cross the gate. These were the extra obstacles the three had to face. Scenes like these are easy to imagine in the mind, however, they would be hard to show in screen. If the director were to involve such scenes in the movie, it would mean more running time, more actors, more locations, and it would cost more money. In order to not take the burden it was decided to not include such scenes. The downside of that idea is that, these specific scenes would have made the movie much more interesting. Sure it would be a lot to sit through but viewers would enjoy watching the action. There are many things to consider while making a movie, which is why it was hard to include everything
The Lightning Thief” is a fantasy fiction written by Rick Riordan. The book starts off with a normal kid going to school named Percy and his friend Grover. They were going on a field trip well the field trip didn't work out so well Percy’s teacher was some sort of creature trying to kill him. Also Percy’s other teacher was a nice demigod who gave him a pen that would turn into a sword, What percy didn't know was that Grover was half goat. Turned out Percy was also a demigod and stole the lightning bolt, but he had no clue what they were talking about. Grover brought him to camp and was the son of Poseidon and meant some people like Annabeth and one named Luke that gave him a shield for his mission, but little did you know the sword had the

Percy has defeated many mythological monsters, including Medusa and many more, Percy and his friends Annabeth and Grover find Hades who has taken Percy’s mother, Sally, but had his symbol of power stolen too. Hades also accuses Percy of stealing his Helm of Darkness and threatens him that he will kill his mother and release the dead into the world. Percy and his friends then use magical pearls to transport them out of Hades’s kingdom and then after

Distinctions between the novel and the film altered the ways that scenes and characters were portrayed. This also changes the theme and the plot of the story which was showed clearly in the novel and made the story flow well together. Eminent characters and scenes were taken out of the film were transmuted in many ways. Despite the differences in the novel and film version, the themes of being prejudiced and exhibiting inequality were expressed greatly throughout the story. While many people know that there have to be cuts while turning a novel into a film, these three elements were imperative to the story and would have improved the film if they were
During a terrible storm, the two are awakened by a surprise visit from Grover -- who Percy suddenly learns is actually not a human teenager, but instead a young satyr. Grover tells them they are in danger, and the three drive to a mysterious summer camp. Upon arrival, they are attacked by the Minotaur. In the ensuing fight, the Minotaur knocks out Grover and grabs Mrs. Jackson, who inexplicably dissolves into a blinding flash of gold light. Believing he has just lost his mother forever, Percy manages to break off one of the Minotaur's horns and kills the beast, then forces himself to drag the unconscious Grover over the property line and up to a farmhouse.

I personally always think that in films the authors or directors always give more detail than the book, like it isn’t just the details it gives in the story, it has more vivid details. This story

Choosing a good book to read may not be an easy task at times because we tend to choose a book by its cover or abandon the book if we don’t like it. My advice is to pick a book that catches your eye, read a synopsis or perhaps even a book review to see if it’s of your liking. If you enjoy reading Greek Mythologies and tales of a brave young boy whose life had completely changed when he found out he was son of Poseidon-God of the Sea, then I would strongly recommend this book –The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. The Lightning Thief is about a young troublesome teenager, Percy Jackson who discovers he’s the son of Poseidon which turns his entire life upside down. He was taken to a camp made for his kind where there are children called “Half-bloods” who are also sons and daughters of many other
Books can be extremely detailed and pictures are painted for the reader by words. Sometimes directors try to transfer these books into movies. This is a very hard process as words written in a book cannot always be performed in a reasonable amount of time for a movie. These movies often sell the book short and there are differences, sometimes major changes between the book and movie.
The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan does not contribute to a white supremacist narrative. The arguments for this being the case (namely that the gods stay in western civilizations and that the battle at the St. Louis Arch both promote white supremacy) can be refuted. I also disagree with the notion that Percy Jackson’s focus on western civilization pushes white supremacy.
Percy and annabeth were fighting scorpions. They found a boulder that had a secret passageway. Annabeth was fighting them away trying not to get stung. The ground under her was weak and broke open. She grabbed Percy's armor or and they fell into a cave.
