When it comes to a popular question: how China is displayed to the World, people will often have a direct heuristic to cast a prejudice on Chinese people as those who use whatever, fair or foul, means to achieve their ultimate goals; or China as an undeveloped place where people has low literacy and education level and low living standard; or even concluding from some Chinese tourists’ irrational and unacceptable behaviors in foreign countries that China must be a region of barbarians. It is understandable that people will often have a terrible impression of China and Chinese people as there is news about Chinese officials’ corruptions in real life, for example; media exposing the Chinese general quality of life; and issues about Chinese tourists’ misbehaviors. However, as a responsible Chinese citizen from Hong Kong, I have to vindicate for the Chinese. China has, in fact, a great cultural inheritance of traditional virtues from its long-lasting history. The easiest way or median to justify Chinese righteous culture is to look at Chinese films. Films, have grown popularity rapidly in past decades, can be served as a good indicator of culture. As mentioned by the famous film producer, Tom Sherak, “Film is a reflection of society, both present and past.” Films are mediums for someone in the society to say something they want to tell the public.
