An origin story is an account of how a culture, a people, or a fictional character came to be. Many of these cultures have their own ideas of how the universe was created. For example, it is written in the Jewish bible that God created the heavens and the earth. This is the origin story from the beliefs of the Jewish people. Chinese and Greek Origin stories are very different, but are slightly similar as well. The Chinese origin story goes as follows: In the beginning there was a huge egg containing all opposites mixed together including male and female, earth and sky, hot and cold, dark and light, etc. Pan Gu was a giant within the chaos. According to the book, no one myth regarding the beginning of all things or the origin of humans ever became universally accepted, however, the separate accounts mentioned all share a great deal in common, yet of course differ in some way, with many other creation myths taught so far. The creation of the world, or cosmic order, out of Chaos, is similar to the creation myths of Chinese, Indian, and Egyptian mythology, however, the details differ. In Egyptian myth, Nun embodies chaotic energies which are later put into order by the first deity. Both Greek and Indian mythology mention creating order out of Chaos but neither divulge many details on how this happened. Chinese creation myth, also making mention of creating order out of Chaos, explains
Ancient Creation myths are similar but at the same time are still very different. What is a myth? A myth refers to a fiction story or only half true story. What makes up a myth? It has several different characteristics that make it different from other types of stories. Ancient Greco-Roman myths are interesting because they talk about another religion and how they are being reflected. Hebrew creation myths are also interesting because they explain the power of God who made the universe in just 6 days.
The story of Pandora is one of the main stories mentioned in Works and Days. Pandora was created as a punishment for men by Zeus because Prometheus tricked Zeus and stole back the gift of fire after Zeus deprived mankind from it. Hence, he ordered Hephaestus to craft a creature out of clay that Athena then supplied with ‘womanly skill’ of weaving while Aphrodite was in charge of ‘pouring grace’ desire and heartbreak. Hermes added ‘thievish nature’ and the ‘mind of a bitch.’ Since she was given all these gifts

Similar myths and legends have been coexisting throughout the world, regardless of eastern and western cultures, and in different languages. Greek myth is probably the world’s most famous and beloved than any other tale of legends stories. Surprisingly, Greek myth and Japanese myth share many similarities in the creation of the world and legend stories through their mythologies. Japan’s Kojiki (Record of Ancient Matters) is a collection of Japanese historical records as well as Japanese mythologies, in which the legend explains the creation of the world and birth of deities. However, Greek mythologies, on the other hand, do not have an official written record of mythologies or religious text like the Bible or the Kojiki, but earliest story-teller like Homer and Hesiod shared richest sources in poems, attempt to explain the beginning of the universe in human language.

Almost every culture on earth has a creation myth. Most if not all of these myths borrow from the core theme of a God-centered creation as contained in the book of Genesis chapter one. According to Van Over (11), a good number of these creation stories show a similarity in the point of their origin. Rumor has it that some of these myths have emanated from actual historical occurrences or events. All creation myths emerge from one ancient source and only diverge when it comes to their timing and the surrounding cultural circumstances. The variations in the myths come as a result of the differences in time and cultural circumstances. Aside from the two causes of variation, in general all creation myths show a basic outline and they also share some basic elements.
Both Greek and Genesis creation stories are different for many reasons, but they also have multiple similarities too. Greek and Genesis creation stories are similar to each because both stories talk about how there were mystical beings. For example, “finally life began to stir in the egg and out of it rose Eros, the God of Love.”(Greek) Another example is, “and God said ‘let there be light’ and there was light.”(Genesis) This shows that in both stories mystical beings end up
In the beginning, the universe was a black egg where heaven and earth were mixed together, and in this egg was contained Pangu. He felt suffocated, so he cracked the egg with a broadax, and the light, clear part of the egg floated up to form Heaven while the cold, heavy part stayed down and formed Earth. Pangu stood in the middle, and he and the egg's two parts grew and grew until he was nine million li in height.
Origin myths deliver stories explaining how the world, humans or objects came to existence. Describing where the nation comes from, they are very important to the culture of given region. Therefore, each nation developed its own stories and beliefs; however, there are many similarities between myths of various religions and cultures.
