As a Christian, we are compelled to speak the word of God and to spread the good news. Would you speak the word and the good news of God if doing so was against the law? Would you trust that God would keep you safe? What if you were thrown in jail, would you still continue to serve God and do as He commands? Xiqiu Fu, also known as Bob, served God and did as He commanded throughout even though it was against the law. Bob lived in China, where Communism runs wild. Being a Christian in China was very dangerous, but Bob was involved in underground churches, illegally printing Bibles, and holding Christian schooling. The law eventually caught up with Bob and he was thrown into jail. While in jail, Bob never once doubted God. Every situation that was handed to Bob, he used it as a way to serve God or to spread his good news. …show more content…

While cleaning the toilets, Bob would share the gospel with the inmates. Some would pour out all their wrongs to him and Bob would intern tell “them about the saving grace of Jesus” (Fu 209). Bob did not stop there. All the inmates where in the formation and had to stay painfully still. Even though Bob was in pain, “[he] felt so thankful to God and [he] wanted to sing” (210). So he did. Which caused a chain reaction; voices began to join in by the “fourth repetition, every man in the entire cell singing… [they] heard the cells on both sides of [them] singing to God” (211). After this incident, the head security guard sternly warned Bob to stop spreading his beliefs. But did he stop? No, he did not. The next time, instead of singing, “[he] simply hummed the tune […]. Once again, the other men joined in with [his] humming” (Fu 213). Bob took being thrown in jail as another way to spread the love and word of
