Imagine waking up at 6 am every morning and then exercising, only eating a small and simple breakfast, training until evening and rarely talking to your family; This is a typical day for a Chinese athlete in a training school. Training in China is rigorous and drills continue throughout the day and sometimes continue into the night. There are approximately 3,000 government run schools, 20 major programs, and 200 smaller ones and they all share one characteristic, harsh training(Hays). Coaches are extremely hard on their athletes, and often times not in a kind way. One athlete described that a coach walked up to one of his athletes and kicked him for no reason. A diving coach told one source “if you want a good performance out of her, you’ll have to beat her”(McNeil), abusive behavior is somewhat typical in China when it comes down to the training schools. Athletes of all ages are pushed past the breaking point and are continuously expected to do more and the coaches have no boundaries when it comes to getting a good athletic performance. The athletes belong to the government and work for them, they aren’t children but a product of the system. “It was kind of like living a military life” one athlete explains; China controls just about every aspect of their lives’.
In order to be successful in this profession a person must has to be a good player, and they also have to be mentally and physically focused the whole time they are practicing or performing. It is very easy to lose focus during rehearsal or performance, which is why not
I believe chapter 3 “The book as common prayer” speaks volumes to where we have been as the church as well as where we are going as believers; as opposed to Chapter 4.

1. I belive that I fall in the catagory of proficient because I didn't get distracted at all throughout the whole class activity. A startergie I used to stay focused was putting my phone in my backpack just in case I get the urge to get distracted. I did particpate a good bit but I feel like I could of contributed way more to the discussion looking back on it. It was even noted that there was a lot of talking over each other, which I feel like hindered my abilty to talk.

The height of the Olympic Games occurs between the fifth and fourth centuries B.C. During this period, the games became more and more professionalized until they provoked much censure during the Roman period (Miller). This is somewhat similar to the present day games where the competitors are supposed to be amateurs, but many are professionals at their craft. Take for example the United States basketball squad. For decades this team has consisted of the best professionals the country has to offer. This is still a tradition, or problem, the games experience today.
Back in 2015, He Tianju, a popular basketball player in China, most notably known for his ability to score three-pointers, moved to America at an attempt to join the NBA. When Tianju started playing in the NBA summer league, where teams can practice with other organizations and try out new players, Tianju did very well in many of his games even scoring nine points in the time he played (Martin). Although Tianju played well and New Orleans head coach Alvin Gentry even commended him on his ability to shoot, he was not drafted into the NBA for the 2015-16 year. Similarly, Hassan Whiteside, a black NBA player, was drafted from the D-League and even though he played poorly in the NBA prior to being sent to the D-League, averaging 1.6 points per game, he became successful in the NBA. Even though Hassan Whiteside was a poor performer before being sent to the D-League, he was given a second chance and bloomed in the NBA while Tianju, an Asian player who played well during his short time in the Summer League did not receive the same offers as Whiteside which makes people question the NBA’s view of Asian players.
Set against the sweeping vistas of Wyoming and Texas, the film tells the story of two young men -- a ranch-hand and a rodeo cowboy -- who meet in the summer of 1963, and unexpectedly forge a lifelong connection, one whose complications, joys, and tragedies provide a testament to the endurance and power of love.
Sports have been around for centuries, dating back to 776 BC with the first Olympic Games. Ancient civilizations like the Egyptian, Greeks and Mayans all had a sport they enjoyed taking part in. They were created to bring people together and help them settle disputes or conflicts in an organized manner. Great leaders of the ancient world saw a fascination in sports and made it part of their reign to promote the human’s natural competitiveness. Since then, new sports have emerged and also new reasons for one to play. New sports evolve every day all over the world. Everywhere in social media and magazines you will find images of famous athletes and their achievements. Not much history has been left behind by these famous civilizations except for some cave paintings and stories passed down through generations. However, these sports have helped new ones all over the world flourish and the competitive aspect has been kept intact with some modifications to minimize some of its historical brutality.
