The artist that I was chosen to write about name is Chris Ware. The materials used by the artist Chris Ware, has uniquely suited his artwork because they give him room and space to bring reality into his comic books. The colors that Chris uses allows him to depict what he wants his cartoon character actions and emotions to feel. Lastly, Chris’s media allows an emotional connection to his readers because he brings his characters to life. At the start of Chris’s work process, he gets a 2 by 3 foot white board, then use a photo blue pencil to start his contouring, which allows him to think about where the figures are in the space he will use. Once he has photographed the page with the photo blue pencil, Chris then goes over the blue pencil with
Chris Stapleton has never been one to be in the spotlight. He has hidden behind famous country artists by writing others number one hits, however, he became a sensation overnight when he released his 2015 album, Traveler. When his label asked him to do his first music video, he chose to do a powerful song titled, “Fire Away.” It is no surprise that he did not want to be featured in the music video. Instead, he decided to bring awareness to mental illness. The music video follows a couple that is torn apart by the wife’s depression. The husband, who happens to be a police officer, tries to rescue her. However, he is not successful. While the music video
Chris Stapleton released his debut album, Traveller, in the Spring of 2015. This album is characterized by what I would describe as a traditional country feel, but with a slightly more modern sound, or to be more technical, a country rock meets blues album. This record, and Chris Stapleton himself, went relatively unnoticed by the general public after initial release. It was not until the 2015 CMA awards when Stapleton performed “Tennessee Whiskey” with Justin Timberlake that his album truly took off (Welch). Since then, songs from Traveller can frequently be heard on national country radio stations, as well as on tour, a show I will be attending in May.
He’s done almost all our art work for our band, Casaveda--the album cover, T-shirt and stickers,” Baskt said. “He is always willing to help, super passionate about every piece and every person he works with.”
People view war in a variety of different viewpoints. Not everyone believes it is negative. In the novel, The Things They Carried, Tim O’brien explains his perspective on war. He believes that many people are quick to brush away the fact that war is truthfully an astonishing event.
From the first page of March I knew this wasn’t going to be an ordinary book. The comic designs, placed and drawn beautifully. An art major as myself, greatly appreciated this. The body forms and facial expressions made it clear how every character felt on each page. Adding to this amazing mix of an art form, there were the simple and perfect phrases that were placed in the book. This brings me to the guests speakers. John Lewis, Andrew Aydin, and Nate Powell. John Lewis who’s story is being told, Andrew Aydin who was co-writer, and Nate Powell in charge of comic design. These three men created a breathtaking novel. Even more amazing about this is that they did so with less than the average word count of a regular novel.
Kanye West has proven himself over time that he is much more than just a producer. With each new album he releases, he constantly pushes the boundaries of music influencing artist across all genres. Kanye has an ever evolving sound that changes almost year to year. Kanye West’s Yeezus album is an album that takes a much darker and more minimalist turn in his discography. This approach to music makes Yeezus a much harder album to listen through because it is not filled with nice, polished sounds. Having the album made this way makes us look over what the message of a song and the album are. Among many rough songs one the most popular on the album was Blood on the Leaves. Blood on the Leaves samples from another song called Strange Fruit sung by Nina Simone which is a very political song talking about gruesome lynchings that happened before and at the turn of the century. With help from the sample, West uses the pain of lynching and drug abuse to compare with the break ups he goes through.
“The kind of story a writer ends up telling is the result of the kind of person that the writer is” (Frequently Asked Questions, 2015). This beautiful and thought-provoking comment was said by renowned author and illustrator Chris Van Allsburg. Like many others, he grew up drawing pictures but he has a unique story for how he came to be well-known.
We’ll draw one together” (746). Robert not only wants to feel the movements of Bub drawing, to visualize a cathedral, he wants to instill confidence in Bub. Robert encourages him even though he cannot physically see, feeling with his fingers he is able to visualize in his mind, “You got it, bub. I can tell. You didn’t think you could.
In my opinion, Kendrick Lamar, an award-winning rapper and songwriter, has one of the best abilities to describe his distressed and abused lifestyle in Compton, California. He is not your original cliché artist who does not speak about anything meaningful. Kendrick, also known as K. Dot, is one of the most well known and most respected rappers in this era. Not only does he speak about his gloomy past, but he also speaks about his fortunate future. His ability to give detailed representations of his struggles and his story telling allows me to, metaphorically, enter the mind of Kendrick Lamar.
I flipped through his book and a girl came up and asked if he had any Loki pieces, he pointed out a marvel comic Loki, she was visibly disappointed. and I looked at her, then at him and said, "I think she means do you have any Tom Hiddleston pieces?" We all giggled and then asked him if he could draw our dog as Captain America (her favorite Avenger)? He said he hadn't done that, but thought that he could. if we gave him about 45 minutes. We texted him photos of our dog and then headed out to eat. We came back in about an hour, eager to see the finished product. We LOVED it so much that we ordered a second one with the other dog as Thor. Again we gave him his space and wandered around some more. I just can't get over what a great job he did! Derrick Fish was able to take our ideas and a photo and within a few minutes, turn it into exactly what we had envisioned! If you EVER have the opportunity to get a piece commissioned by him I highly recommended it, ours were worth every
Every true story ends in death… and this is a true story. Gale sayers is a very good football player, but not very many people know about his backup Brian Piccolo. Brian is a very shy and outgoing man, he will not stop even when he wants to. Gale sayers is a shy man, he does not talk very much, unless it is to brian. The story Brian's Song is about a white and black football player as friends, going through the thick and thin, the ups and downs, and when you just need each other.
The thing that I liked the most were the murals that he drew and the
Chris Van Allsburg has been named one of the most intriguing authors and illustrators of children’s books. He has a unique style that captivates children and adults alike.
