Most Christians believe that the Bible is the word of God. Since they believe this, and since they believe the Bible is true, many Christians take a biblical worldview position on the issue of abortion. Christians value God’s commandments in the Bible. They believe the Bible tells them what is right and what is wrong. Since Christians hold the Bible to be their moral standard, that life begins at conception, and that murder is wrong in the Bible, their value judgement is that abortion is morally wrong. They take the moral stance that the Bible has religious authority from God and that they should follow that authority and use it to make decisions on what is right and wrong. The Bible clearly explains that it is morally impermissible to murder someone. The ten commandments, which …show more content…
Lastly, Christians believe that their view of children should be consistent with that of Jesus’. Jesus did not believe that babies were inconvenient in any way. For instance, Jesus was preaching and people were bringing their babies to Jesus to be blessed. The disciples sent the parents away because they believed it was an inconvenience to Jesus. However, Jesus rebuked the disciples and welcomed the children (Luke 18: 15-17). This shows that, to Jesus, children were not an inconvenience. Christians believe that since they should model themselves after Jesus, and Jesus did not see children as inconvenient, that it is wrong to get an abortion simply because it may be convenient, which is the main reason people get abortions today. Christians who hold the biblical worldview of abortion believe that abortion is morally wrong because the Bible is given the authority by God to tell them what is right and wrong and from a biblical standpoint, abortion is wrong. Since the bible says that it is wrong to murder, that life begins at conception, that killing the innocent is wrong, and that Christians are supposed to be like Christ, the Biblical worldview stance is that
The sixth of the ten commandments says that “You shall not murder.” This is still
When comparing the resolution of Christians against others, Christians must at all times remember who gives life and who has the absolute call and decision to take it away and that is God. Others may say that it should be a choice and that a woman should not be forced to carry a child knowing that the child has a defect, or that aborting the child is the humane thing to do because the child would only suffer (Ryan, 2014), however until you have given the child a chance, you cannot say or determine what quality of life the child will have and if they will suffer at all. In today’s society those who
Every year, as many as a million lives are aborted; lives that could potentially have been your neighbor, your friend, or even your son or daughter. Abortion is the surgical process of killing a baby by various means; and has been in effect since the Supreme Court ruling on Roe V. Wade in 1973 which legalized it nationwide. It was, at first, endorsed as being a woman’s right, but has more recently been viewed by most as the murder of an innocent child. Besides this shift in views, abortion has caused diverse effects on our culture and nation, as well as the death of upwards of 56 million children according to Life News. Our society has been deeply impacted by the effects of abortion and the loss of millions of innocent lives, and Christian
This is not to say that as a Christian supporting the pro-life idea is a bad, but rather one should consider the lives of women that will have to go through hell if they decide to keep the baby in the womb. In other words, I know most Christians support the idea of pro-life; however, think about the negative effects or side effects of giving birth to a baby you don’t want, which can lead a woman to a miserable life. Think about this, what will you say to a woman who was raped and got pregnant? Will you tell her to still keep the baby? That is a decision that a woman who got raped must decide, which is really hard to do if there are policies to ban abortion.
This is a time where some in life should make their own decision. Their decision might be difficult because it required moral or ethics. When it comes to moral it means personal perspective of right and wrong. Christians believe that moral is what God label as sin or not sin. I am go to write a case study essay about abortion.
The father of the foetus to be aborted has no right to be consulted or
The contrary to the argument for pro-choice is that of the Pro-Life group. Many of them say that life is sacred and should not be terminated in any case. Many internet apologists take this stance. They would passionately argue that God will strike us down if we believe that abortion should be a choice. Especially in the United States, Christian groups join together and march to protest against the legalisation of abortion. Groups like this refer to the bible’s supposed ‘supreme guidance’ and believe that God is firmly against abortion in any case. They may cite specific biblical verses such as Exodus 21, 22 - 25. These verses say that if two men are fighting and they accidently punch a woman, resulting in the death of the unborn child, the penalty is death. However, most Christians simply disregard this as ‘symbolic’. Such disregarding of Gods words is without reason or defence, it is simply our own sinful minds challenging what God gave us for our own good. A true Christian could never pass this verse off as symbolic, it is a rule, a law, and just like the ten commandments (one of which says we should not
relationships, and lying. But one event in which most religions strictly disapprove of is the act of abortion. The three major world religions, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all see the death of an unborn child as a treacherous act that should never be committed. Abortion is a topic that is “not to be spoken of” due to the amount of judgements on it, but in today’s modern era socialist see it as a matter of choice, while religions such as Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, still stick to their traditions and customary view. And although they all have somewhat the same views on unborn lives, each of them have different reasonings behind it.
: Psalm 139-13 “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” God created the inner parts of the child’s body to function properly in our mother’s womb after fertilization until it matures and becomes a human being. Most Christians are against abortion. They care deeply about the protection of life in the mother’s womb.
or not to have the child she is carrying. The Bible does not say much
Some people will argue that an embryo or fetus is not a person because they lack the capacity for sentience, but so doesn’t an infant. An infant lacks the ability to reason and amongst other thing they can’t do, but learn to do, they are still a person with the same rights. So if an infant is considered as a person and there are laws to protect that infant, why wouldn’t the same laws applied to embryos and fetuses. Along with Kant’s views on abortion, the divine command theory (DCT) supports pro-life. The DCT “provide sufficiently clear moral direction and an adequate sense of duty” (Cowan and Spiegel, 2009). God is the creator of the laws governing morality and he commands them; in that he would be against abortion. According to Exodus 21:22-24, it implies that the miscarriage was not justified and immoral because a life was lost. Christians believes that the value of an unborn child is as valuable as that of an adult. God created all life and has plans for all of his children from the womb. It’s our duty to ensure that life is given and not taken away, whether it is an adult or a baby in the
Nowadays, in this world, there are a lot of problems that can make tremendous conflicts for human beings. They are very complicated and bring a lot of argument and nobody knows what the exact answer is. They also have pros and cons. One of the most complex problems is abortion. This is due to moral and ethical values which we all have. The majority of us are Christians or are brought up in that kind of ambiance which means that as small children we were taught values that are based on the bible such as that famous phrase “Thou shall not kill”. This phrase relates to this topic because an abortion is the murder of a human being.

God, God has a purpose for every life and so if you destroy a life how
Religious arguments constitute another group of reasons against abortion. All Western culture is mainly based on Christian religion, which believes abortions to be morally wrong. Christian faith insists on the human nature of the unborn child and regards abortion as a murder. Actually the Bible does not say anything about abortion. This argument is often used by the proponents of abortion. In reality during the time when the Bible was written abortion
