Introduction The need for Christian spiritual transformation is vital for the edification and maturity of believers and the fulfillment of the great commission and the greatest commandment. In fact, believers must be spiritually transformed to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that they may be filled with the fullness of God and experience His grace power and love. Moreover, according to Willard, “spiritual transformation and the renovation of the human heart is an inescapable human problem with no human solutions.” Genuine transformation only takes place when the whole person or each dimension of the believer is in alignment with God through Christ and the Holy Spirit. The purpose of this paper is to discuss and clarify …show more content…
In fact, Willard gives plenty of detail on the various dimensions of human life; he categorizes each aspect of human life into six dimensions that make up human nature. The first dimension is thought which is made up of images, concepts, judgments, and inferences. Second is feelings which is comprised of sensation and emotions. Third is choice which includes wheel, decision, and character. The fourth dimension is the body which produces action and interaction with the physical world. The fifth dimension is social contexts which includes personal and structural relationships with others. Last but not least, the six dimension is the soul which is the factor that integrates all the other dimensions to form one’s life. A spirit transformed believer submits and allows God’s grace to transform each dimension of his or her life. Lee Camp, the does an excellent job explaining what true transformation and Christ-like character looks like, "disciples prioritize God's kingdom, rather than the self-seeking agendas of the kingdoms of the world. There is no compartmentalization of the faith, no realm, no sphere, no business, no politic in which the lordship of Christ will be excluded. …” This ideal Spirit formed life can only be accomplished by a life full of submission and devotion to an intimate relation with the
This sermon provokes the one who has had their own hearts weaken to seek holiness from the transformation of love. Wesley desires every Christian to attain the status of perfect love, where the love of God and neighbor would reign in their hearts. As evidence he quotes St. Paul, “Earnestly desire the higher gifts, and I will show unto you a more excellent way.” (The More Excellent Way,
In considering how the call to be a Christian lead to a transformed life imparts knowledge, understanding which give you discernment for the other two callings because it is all connected as a whole. Answering the first call of being born again is the biggest transformation of humanity. Being transformed is much more than changing behaviors or turning over a new leaf, it is all about renewing your mind to fulfill God's call and purpose in life. "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what the will of God is, what is good and acceptable and perfect" (Romans 12:2 (English Standard Version). When I received Christ into my life, my heart (spirit) became one with God, actually transpired; therefore, was a real spiritual transformation from spiritual death to life. Our life becomes one with God. "But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him" 1 Corinthians 6:17 (English Standard Version). That is why the scriptures are so essential for our life; because it is the Word of God. Christians are born of the Word of God which give everlasting life, which is by the Spirit
This belief goes beyond one or two religions; it is prevalent across all religions. Keeping this in mind, it will be helpful to outline a method for witnessing to adherents of folk religions. Phillip Samaan lists six steps to Christian Witnessing in his book, “Christ’s Way of Making Disciples.” However, these six steps are designed to witness to other Christians. To better serve the purpose of this paper, only five steps will be mentioned. These five steps will serve as a basis for witnessing to adherents to folk religions. This method has been effective because it was not contrived from human thought. Rather, it models exactly what Christ did. The first step Jesus took was to mingle with others as one who desires their good. Before even
As a response to Freud’s interpretation of the conversion of Saul/Paul, Nicholi then looks at the conversion of C.S. Lewis as well as several other students who each had experienced religious conversions of their own. Nicholi had conducted a study of said students in order to determine if their conversions were “[expressions] of pathology, i.e. isolating and destructive, or…adaptive and constructive? Did these experiences impair or enhance functioning?” (2002, Pg. 80). Nicholi’s findings were incredible, the lives of each and every convert, including Lewis, changes dramatically for the better. They experienced higher levels of self-esteem, more satisfying relationships with friends and family members, and “…a lessening of ‘existential despair’; and a decrease in preoccupation with the passage of time and apprehension over death” (2002, Pg. 80).
I think back to about six months ago when I was sitting at home in Evansville, Indiana. I knew that I was going to be coming to Liberty University for seminary in the spring and it was time to choose the classes that I would be taking. I was working to try to fit everything into my schedule and figure out which classes were offered when. As it turns out, there were only about 4 that I could feasibly and logically fit into my schedule. I had an idea of all of them except one. Discipleship Ministries 520: Spiritual Formation. To be completely honest, the topic was foreign to me. I could deduct off the two words that it was about being formed spiritually but that was about it. I know that I will get into this later
There is so much negativity and judgement in this world. There needs to be more believers in Jesus Christ. Having more believers will make things better. It will also help to guide other people that need guidance on the right path to righteousness. There are so many people that do not understand the truth about living the right way when it comes down to following Jesus Christ. People who are surrounded by a church community, will have an easier life being a Christian, will be guided by the Ten Commandments, and will learn to have a loving heart for others.
This paper on Salvation is defining both objectively and subjectively from the two required reading text. The first text is written by Alistair McGrath’s “Theology: The Basics and the second is written by Dr. Yung Chul Han’s “Transforming Power: Dimension of the Gospel. I will describe how the both texts are in association as well as seeking observations, and other conclusions to gain a better understanding of salvation from both perspectives. According to (Mc.Grath, p.78), the word salvation is referred to as something that has already happened in the past, to something that will happen in the future. Spiritual transformation requires of us what is called dependent responsibility. All the moral commands and exhortations of scripture assume our responsibility. Salvation is deliverance from danger or suffering. The word salvation carries the idea of victory, health, or preservation (www.biblia.com). Salvation can be viewed as a spiritual transformation which the dependency of the Holy Spirit assist in the change of a believers past, self to a vessel of God in the present lives which exemplifies life, deliverance, peace, and a victory won through personal conviction. The victory is one that only Jesus Christ has authority save us which gives believers complete approval to have possession to enter the kingdom of heaven.
This paper presents a personal view of spiritual discernment and the process. The paper examines the importance of mainly career decision making, my view of the struggles and things that influence decisions. The paper first explores decision making factors that are very important to me based on the survey in the Horton (2009) article. I also explain my choice of discernment approach based on the factors that are important to me. I explain how I feel they related to the approaches explained in the Horton (2009) article. I reveal past experiences that influence my approach, and influence how I may career counsel someone.
Some people may not be familiar with the true meaning of Christian counseling. Many may think it’s just the pastor giving advice concerning problems within their personal life. Christian counseling can be addressed this way: a discipleship created to assist people to become free to take part of God’s forgiveness, purpose, and power from on high to become sons of the living God (Hawkins & Clinton,2015). When people experience Christian counseling, they have an opportunity in expressing wholeness, spiritual maturity, relational competency, and a stability in intellect (Collins, 1993). Christian counselors desire is like a clergy to assist people with possessing their soul to trust and love God with all their hearts. Hawkins & Clinton (2015)
Finally, those who adhere to the Reformed tradition have enthusiastically promoted a vision of the transformation of culture. According to this viewpoint, the various cultural and social structures in this life can be renewed in Christ. No aspect of reality is alien
God has revealed himself in many different ways throughout Christian faith. He gives Christians insights in ways they know are understanding and can be used with logical reasoning. He lets us see him through his divine creations. We see God at church weekly when he comes to us through the priest. We see God daily when we pray and ask for his forgiveness, strength and love. When we trust in God we believe in God. No one can see God, but we can see God in his works. Our faith is about trusting God, and God being with us through the good days and the bad days. His revelation can relate to which theological sources humanity can rely upon to know the truth.
I never thought to be a Christian leader. As a matter of fact, I am a person who did not know about God for 26 years. I was the center of my life, and there was no room for God to enter. Even when I was attending church service, I was trying not to be exposed to other church people. In other words, I was the kind of person who was afraid to walk into a life of faith. However, in the past three years, God has changed me in many ways, and showed me so many miraculous things. And, finally here I am. Being a Christian leader seems the most challenging job in the world. I am working as the chairman of a youth ministry, and walking on the path to be a church leader. When God called me to work for the

Studies of Jesus primarily focus on the duality of Jesus and how he is able to be both human and divine at once. This subject was disputed at the Council of Chalcedon in the year 451 between the
Christian Tradition course exposed me to the Christian Tradition based on Biblical and church history. The course taught me the differences and similarities of Christian Tradition from other major world religions. I learned about the significance of God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and the Trinity based on the teachings of the Bible. The course also briefly covered 2,000 years of church history but with emphasis on the impact of the Council of Nicea, Council of Chalcedon, and John and Charles Wesley on Christianity. The professor emphasized the importance of the reformation that sparked a revolution in the church.
