understanding of the bible before taking biblical studies was that is factual and based
God. Growing up in a Christian family I attended church on a regular. I was educated about the importance of the bible directly and indirectly through my pastor and family. We all learn of the Ten Commandments, the consequences of sin and ways to handle life.
During this course I'm learning of secularism, which a lot of "Christians" including myself fall into. We all claim Christianity yet do not follow every single thing in the bible. Secularism is basically leading a non-religious lifestyle. Secularists live for nature and society. They believe in separation of the church and the state. The United States of America is a secular country, because they preach "in God we trust" but still allow separation of religion. There is no God in school, but in the pledge of allegiance children quote "one nation under God".

Itpoints out the contradictions in the bible. Saying that the bible isn't exactly credible because there are so many issues. Such as, Genesis six and Genesis seven state the exact same stories. Including the same characters and events but changing some stipulations. God told Noah he was going to flood the word because he regretted creating man. There was too much violence and evil in the world. So the consequence was death to all excluding Noah.
Then it turned around with God telling Noah once again his plan to flood the earth but this time for Noah to gather two of each beast clean and unclean, there's an issue within this event because it states the same story and also contradicts itself. God clearly stated each of his commands to Noah in Genesis 6 and 7. Which points out that he could've been unsure or somewhat forgiving of
And although Noah isn’t actually the main character of this narrative, he changes the story’s outcome in his own way. Noah is known as the only good person in the old world and was free of sin, so naturally, he is the most connected to God. God’s plan was to wipe out all the humans and start a new world, and this message was conveyed via Noah. The chapter ‘Day of Revelation’ (pg.12) gives us an
A lot has happened over the this course learning everything from music in the 1960s to interrogation techniques of the current. The last ting we learned about our country is how Christians played a role in it. The history of we came to be in America, how we have an influence and the social enigmas with wanting it in politics. The main things we covered in the past eight weeks is how different events have effected or influenced the United States. We begin in the sixties and worked our way through the major events and crises of our country.
In 2005, Christain Smith and Melisa Dundst investigated the religious belief system amongst American teenagers and the findings shed light on a few important issues that explain the Juvelization of American Christianity. Before reading the articles written by Christian Smith and Thomas Bergler I never heard of Morallistic Therapeutic Deism or considered American Christianity as being Juevinalized. For the remainder of this crique, I will refer to both terms as MTD and JAC. Surprisingly, MTD is basically another form of Humanism; Merriam Wester Dictionary defines this term as,” an outlook or system of thought attaching prime importance to human rather than divine or supernatural matters. Humanist beliefs stress the potential value and goodness
The first part of this verse is really important, it says; “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities.”
The book of Genesis is the first book of the bible, it’s also the most important. In genesis God first created heaven and earth, and the first of mankind. The descendants of Adam, the first man on earth and Eve the first woman had later became evil and wicked this caused God to regret that He had ever created mankind. Then God decided that the best thing for mankind was to destroy them all and start over. But God did not destroy them all he found that there was one man who had a pure and obedient heart, Noah. Noah and his family found great and amazing favor with God. God commanded Noah to build an ark, and He gave him very specific directions on how to do so. The ark was huge, God commanded Noah to fetch a pair of every animal one male and one female to keep them alive during
West, especially the United States, is evident in their laws against women's rights. You have old white men in Congress passing laws on what a woman can and cannot do with their body, as it pertains to abortion, based on their views that it’s a sin against God.
Understanding the what the bible is trying to convey to us is important. The reason why we should study and understand the Old Testament is because it is very influential in the formation of many nation, cultures, and civilizations along with helping to find how we can implement the teachings of social justice within our
If I had the opportunity to create my own college course, I would address the enduring question of why society is growing more secular. Over the last two decades, the American society has abandoned its faith roots. This secularization is evident within my own family as I have noticed that each generation is becoming more secular with time. My grandparents are devout Catholics, attending daily masses and actively participating in their parish’s activities. My parents and siblings, on the other hand, were practicing Catholics when I was a toddler. We read the bible every night before bed, said our nightly prayers, and went to mass each Sunday; however, now they rarely practice their faith, attending mass on only Christmas and Easter. I know my family isn’t the only case where this gradual secularization of generations is occurring. According to a study done by Newsweek, the total number of Catholics in the United States has
Over the years, the government of the American people has subtly and gradually seized control of the responsibilities and roles of the American family and the Christian church. Both families and the church are being completely taken over by the government as time passes by. Now the people of America are counting on the government, not their family and the church as it used to be.
The United States of America was founded on the idea of religious freedom. Pilgrims came to America to practice their religion freely. In the Bill of Rights, Americans have the right to freedom of religion. Religion is the foundation in the United States of America, so it should be taught in schools.
If I had to write a documentary about something I would choose one about how people and their religions are declining or rising depending on the circumstances. For instance comparing how in one part of the United states christianity is getting larger while in a separate portion it is getting weaker and smaller. I’d also take note of the increase of how many don’t have something that they believe in or what not. The reason that I would like to make a documentary about this is because I’ve noticed how in certain areas of the country or even in just the state of California the amount of churches for certain religions change and fluctuate in terms of how many and how many people you see that are apart of the said religion. I’m interested in seeing whether Christianity should be the religion that the government kind of follows if it isn’t the main religion that is followed in the country.
The religions around the world are practiced in America such as Christianity,Islam,Jewish, etc and this country still remains one of the most religious nations in the world today.Population also usually can be participates in organized religious practice while others can choose to engage in a private spirituality.Besides that, religion can be describes as spiritual belief in, worship of, or obedience to a God and considered to be divine or to have control of human destiny.I believe the percentages in American people that believe in God still be higher in 50 years ahead, but the religious practicing probably will decreasing. It has many factors such as age, race, gender, economic class, and other demographic factors that can affect American
Genesis 6:5 – 9:17 Summary: God decides that he must wipe the earth of all life, but finds Noah who is good. Noah, at God’s instruction, builds an ark, gathers his family and two of every animal (slightly more complicated than just two of every animal but that’s not the point), and survives the floodwaters that God used to wipe out the other humans. After 40 days and 40 nights, Noah and his family discover land and begin to repopulate the earth. God and Noah establish a covenant that Noah and his descendants will never see a flood of the like again, that God will never send another flood to destroy all life. Commentary: Many people find fault with how God would almost wipe out all life on the earth, but what many people forget is that God was the creator, the sculptor of life; is it not fair that a creator can destroy their creation if they see it is no longer beneficial?
The same nation that was forged by foreigners who wanted liberation from tyranny, pursue religious freedom, and have an opportunity to be successful, is in a very disappointing situation. Politics has resulted in the division of unified people from the same nation countless times throughout history, which happens due to the fact that everyone believes in different things, however, some political subjects make us the judges of right and wrong, such as who is allowed in our country. Imagine living in an unstable country with your family that is under the rule of a tyrannical terrorist regime, bombs and gunshots are happening at your doorsteps and you want to escape and provide safety for your family. As a result, you leave the country and try to come to the “home of the free”, the United States, but upon your arrival, you are banned from entering because of your religion and you and your family are sent back. Muslims who follow the faith of Islam have been labeled as “terrorists” by so many news companies, government officials, and everyday citizens, however, that is what is called ignorance. A person should not be denied access into the States as a result of their religion unless they pose a legitimate threat, banning a group because of their religion can be deemed unconstitutional.
The United States of America is home to many people of different cultural backgrounds and ethnicities. And with those varying ethnicities come people with many different religions that are not Christianity. Although
