Christianity is a faith based on the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. (Fisher, 1991) Christianity is a one God religion as presented in the New Testament. Today, Christianity and the church are culturally diverse, even in the aspects of race. It is even said that Sunday mornings is the most segregated time in the world. There is one central belief that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, all Christians can come to this conclusion. Christianity teaches that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins and that we are all under the judgment of God because we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Other religions may often depict that it is only necessary to do some good when it comes to God in order to …show more content…
God expects us to live in likeness of him; however we are still accountable and will be held responsible for our actions and decisions. We must hear God’s word, believe, repent (turn from which that is wrong), confess and be baptized in order to be saved. "Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come," (2 Cor. 5:17). This means that God actually lives in the person and the Christian then experiences a true and living relationship with God. In being a Christian you belong to Christ; you are saved through Jesus Christ. Unfortunately many people call themselves a Christian and do not have a personal relationship with Christ. The bible makes reference to this in (Revelation 3:1-6). Jesus is of great significance in both Islam and Christianity. When it comes to the views of Jesus according to Muslims and Christians there are quite a few differences in terms of beliefs about the nature and life occurrences of Jesus. In Islam Jesus is found in the Quran, also known as “Koran”, the Muslim bible. It was revealed by God to the Prophet called Muhammad. Today, those that call themselves Muslims believe in the complete authenticity of the Quran as the original revealed guidance from God. With Christians, information and guidance in relation to Jesus comes directly
In Langston Hughes’ essay “Salvation,” Langston talks about the first time he is going to be saved from sin. Langston is a young boy around the age of thirteen. He is going to church to see Jesus for the first time. In which case, he truly experiences religion for the first time in his life. Throughout this essay Langston uses many narrative techniques such as, imagery, metaphors, and irony to explain his interpretation of that one night when he did not see Jesus.
Is it possible to understand the gospel message, serve as an officer in a church, be sure of your salvation, and yet still not get into heaven when you die? Matthew, one of the original twelve disciples, answered this question clearly. Yes, on “that day”, many will stand before God and hear Him say, “I know you not; depart from me.” (Matthew 7:23 KJV)
Christianity derives from the teachings of God’s son Jesus of Nazareth and his apostles who later became known as Jesus Christ. Being a Christian is living a very righteous life. Christianity is a monotheistic religion such as Islam and Judaism. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have an eternal life.” This is a major factor in christian faith. This exact quote is not a belief for other religions but, it is known to be the foundation to have a great afterlife. It shows how only Christians believed in Jesus being God's son and in the holy trinity. In conclusion, Christians are to live in
Christianity is a monotheistic (believing in one God) religion, which is based on the “teachings of Jesus.” Deemed the son of God, Jesus walked around town helping those in need and preaching the words of his father, served as a role model, exemplifying to others how to live life selflessly. His life was short lived, “at the age 33, he was crucified on the cross.” Christians believe that God sacrificed his only son for the forgiveness of their own sins, which they give thanks for throughout the year at Christmas, Lent, and Easter. One of the most prominent figures in the Christian church is the cross. The most important book in Christianity is the Bible, which they consider sacred and holy. It is a doctrine that holds all Jesus’s teachings, which have been broken up into 2 parts: “old testament and new testament.” In the Bible, individuals will find a set of guidelines (10
We’ve all had something in our lives that has changed them for the good or the bad, or at least if you haven't had it yet it will happen sometime in your life. These experiences mold us into who we are and who we will become. Without these moments in our life, life would get pretty boring. You’d get use to the same old same old, so sometimes you need life to throw you a curveball.
The Christian religion finds its foundation on the Word of God and the work of Jesus Christ. Christianity finds its beginnings with Jesus Christ about 2,000 years ago, when he, the Son of God, came down to earth to teach, heal, and die for the sins of humanity. After God created man, man openly rebelled against Him, causing a rift in their relationship. Since humans cannot save themselves, a perfect and completely innocent sacrifice was necessary in order to purify and restore mankind. Christianity comprises and emphasizes Jesus’ death and resurrection, as well as denying oneself and following Christ.
Simply stated we must believe in Jesus as our Messiah. He came into the world not to condemn the world, but to save the world, those who believe on Him are not condemned (John 3:17-18). Believing in Him is simply stated, but not easily done. In fact, I would say we cannot do this without the help of God Himself. Paul states “…God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith” (Romans 12:3 KJV). Having this faith on our own might as well be considered a “work.” What God has done is on account of the work of Christ is the basis for that measure of faith. Taking from Charles Spurgeon’s sermon “Justification by Grace” we find a candid answer to the question, how does one obtain justification? Spurgeon poses the question, “Can I be justified?” running through a general list of reasons and requirements often cited, even today, as to why this may not be possible for some individual he answers yes, if God has given you the desire and you “confess thy sins” Jesus will take your “rags” and give you His “righteousness” forever. If asked how is this obtained? “Must I be a holy man for many years, and then get it?” Spurgeon expounds, “Listen! ‘freely by His grace;’ ‘freely’ because there is no price to be paid for it, ‘by His grace,’ because it is not of our deservings.” In answer to the question, “I have been praying, and I do not think God will forgive me, unless I do something to deserve it.” Spurgeon clearly answers, “God gives away His justification freely; and if you bring anything
Christianity: Christianity was founded by Jesus Christ, therefore the religion is based on the life of Jesus as well as the teachings of Jesus. The religion of Christianity believe in Jesus Christ as their savior and they believe in the Holy Spirit.
The belief in Christianity is that there is only one god, and that he is all powerful. Also that Jesus is the son of God, and to believe in his internal life. Christianity teaches us is that Jesus is the Son of God, he is also the second person in the Trinity, which is the God the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Also that the time he spent on earth, along with his crucifixion, resurrection, and him going to heaven are all proof of how much God loves humanity and he has forgiveness for human sins and that by having faith in Jesus, we can get salvation and eternal
Genesis 2:7 says, “And the Lord formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul.” We also read in the scripture in Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace; and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” By reading these scriptures we learn that it is evident the Lord loves His creation, man who is created in His image and He has created all of us with a purpose. In order for us to find the Lord’s entire purpose for us on this earth, we must communicate with Him daily. Christians are to be the example of Christ to the world around us. The Bible reminds us of the characteristics of his spirit.
I didn’t come from a particularly religious, or irreligious, household. Growing up, there was no solid, undoubting spiritual framework from which I could base my life on. There was never any Sunday morning “rush-hour,” where we would all eat a quick breakfast of bacon & eggs before cramming into the car to go listen to a man, clad in white, preach & sing to us about a creator. There was never any youth-group, or summer-camp, or bible study. Not to any fault of my parents, of course - I just wasn’t raised that way. That being said, I was still told about God, the bible, and the things that entail it. Despite the fact that I was never really, fully indoctrinated into the Christian faith, I was still being raised as a Christian, and that’s what I identified as for the majority of my childhood. I was Austin Tanner Herz, the 3rd grader, the lego-fanatic, the comic-book reading, lunchable eating, bed-jumping extraordinaire, the Christian. Little did I know how much my religious identity would change over the upcoming years.
Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. The Scriptures are clear that there is no other name by which man can be saved but by Christ alone (Acts 4:12). One can only be delivered by the power of sin through the Lord Jesus Christ. In John 14:6 Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.” The same exclusive statement is made in John 10:7-8 when Jesus said, “Truly, Truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers.”
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3: 23); however, no sin can enter heaven (Revelation 21: 27); therefore, the forgiveness of sins is extremely important to those who desire heaven as their eternal home.
I want to first begin by defining the word salvation. In a non-theological definition salvation can be defined as a source or means of being saved from harm, ruin, or loss. Even though it’s a non-theological definition it still directly connects with Christianity’s understanding. When it comes to Christianity salvation is accomplished through Jesus Christ. Devote Christians understand that salvation is centered on God’s grace. It is very important to know and understand when it comes to salvation it was never a free choice. God is the creator and as humans we are his creation. In Christianity if you don’t stay away from sin and also if you don’t put your faith into God don’t expect to be saved during the day of judgment. In one of the early
Christianity is one of the major religions of the world. It is a global religion in which majority of the countries of the world partake in. Christians believe in God as the Supreme Being and the creator of the world. They also believe in his Son Jesus Christ and refer to him as the Messiah and the Savior of the World and the Messiah as they believe He died to save their sins. What makes Christianity different from other religions of the world is that it has more followers than other religions, it is more widely distributed around the world, and it is better documented with the start of the bible most especially (Hinnells 2005, p. 441). Hinnells also stated that one in every seven person in North America as well as Africa is a Christian,
