Throughout the world, there are many different religions; from Christians to Catholics to Hinduism and even Muslims. However, what most people don’t know, is that some religions have complete different meanings yet still have the same practices and sacraments. Christianity started around one century AD in the Roman Province of Judea. Opposed to the Islamic religion, their place of origin originally was created in Arabian Peninsula of Mecca. The founder of Christianity is The Lord Jesus Christ, however Muslims believe that “Jesus” is a prophet. According to the Islam, Prophet Muhammad founded the religion during the seventh century. On the surface, Islam and Christianity appear to have very little in common, however, as you get deeper into areas such as rituals, beliefs, ethics, founders, and sacred objects, the two show strong mutual similarities, particularly in the fundamental areas, while being totally different. In this essay I will compare and contrast many of the facets that make up the worlds largest and most recognized religions, Christianity and Islam.
Christianity and Islam are two of the world’s largest religions. The two are different in beliefs but are similar in origin. Like many religions both Islam and Christianity claim to be the one and only true way to God. Although Islam and Christianity differ in major ways, they also share some similarities.
In Wikipedia religion is defined“A religion is an organized collection of beliefs, cultural systems, and worldviews that relate humanity to an order of existence.” There are approximately more than four thousand religion in the world. Christianity and Islam are part of the major significant religion.
The attitudes of Christianity and Islam toward merchants and trade are similar yet different. Over time Christian and Islamic attitudes towards the merchants and trade have changed.
Christianity and Islam religions are very different from each other. Specifically, about the idea of merchants and money.Christianity goes by a summarized saying that, "a rich man will have a very hard time getting into heaven". While Islam has the idea that, if you are a rich merchant, you will get into a higher faith, but only if you do well by the items and money you profit from. Christianity holds a strong belief in being poor or in the middle class and having a rich relationship with God. While Islam says that all you need to do is not cheat people out of their money; Cheating someone out of their money, or charging them more than what the item they are buying is worth is considered unmanly. Both religions are very different, but vaguely similar.

During Christianity and Islam both religions had different views on merchants and trade from religion’s origins.Islam sometimes view merchants to be great for economy but christianity felt that merchants will never make it to heaven because of how much money merchants are gaining. At first Islam encouraged respect towards merchants and later on islam was suspicious of their activity.Then Christianity at first did not support or feel great about merchants but later they became equate to merchants like Islam but only the merchants who were honest.
While the attitudes of Christianity and Islam toward trade differed greatly in the beginning, their views evolved and changed over time. In the beginning of the trade movement, Christianity had originally opposed it, while Islam chose to embrace it. As time went on, both Christianity and Islam took on a more moderate stance. Christianity chose to embrace it more while Islam began to reject it.
As of today, Christianity and Islam are the world’s two largest and rapidly growing religions. They share an estimated 3.6 billion followers, more than half of the world’s population. Initially the two religions may seem to have nothing in common, but when you go beyond the surface and examine the rituals, beliefs, and founders, as well as the spread of both religions, they share many similarities. In many ways, there is irony in tension between Christianity and Islam, given the extremely similar history and nature of their religions. It is perhaps lost on many people who subscribe to these religions that there is no more truth to one than the other. But when observed from an objective viewpoint it is undeniable that both Christianity and Islam are remarkably similar in origin and ideology. In order to see and understand their similarities, it is important to look back to the birth and rise of both religions.

Christianity and Islam are wide spread religions which impact the lives of believers spiritually. Both religions have had substantial impact on the course of history and have formed the basis of many countries laws and are highly recognized by governments. Though Christianity is more widely known, they both pose the same challenges to each other. Considering the similarities and differences of Christianity and Islam, it can be said they are both very different.
Marriage is an important part of the Christian life a the purpose of Christian marriage is faithfulness to one another, many Christians teach than within marriage there is a natural hierarchy that reflects the relationship of Christ and the church. The Roman Catholic Church says “wives, in the same way be submissive to your husband… Husband, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect” (1 peter 3:1, 7). Whereas the Church of England argues that the relationship is based upon Christ’s headship over the church and is about love and sacrifice, not domination and power. This argument originally started as the bible said “a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife and they will become one flesh” (genesis 2:24). On the other hand, in the Islamic faith marriage is only a way to make sex and having children legal and lawful, the belief also states in the eyes of Allah both members of the relationship are treated equally even though they have separate duties.
Islam and Christianity seem to have very little in common; however, the two actually show strong likeness, principally in the central areas. Both Muslims and Christians are monotheists, believing in one God. While both believe in the same God, He is called by two completely different names. He is referred to as "Allah" by Muslims and "God" by Christians. Although Islam and Christianity are two different religions, their similarities in beliefs and prayers make them comparable in many aspects.
Many religions have impacted the thoughts and beliefs of millions around the world. Two of these religions are Islam and Christianity, both of which are similar, yet, incredibly different. Christianity, which had come long before Islam, is known to be the root of Islam which makes sense since the two religions share much in common. They are both Abrahamic and monotheistic religions which means they share the belief in only one true existing God and are rooted to have many similarities. Their differences, however, are what make them two distinctive religions, which is why they are recognized and classified for being so.
