Her most famous work is The Book of the City of Ladies. Written in the vernacular, Christine writes of all the injustices women face in society and how a woman could strike back. The book is as well, a formal and lengthy response of Jean de Meun’s Romance of the Rose, by defending women and providing a wide range of strong, famous women in history to defend her argument of a strong, independent woman. In The Book of the City of Ladies, Christine writes that “...others have said and continue to say and write such awful, damning things about women and their ways. I was at a loss...who all seem to speak with one voice and are unanimous in their view that female nature is wholly given up to vice.” Criticism and sexism against women has Christine at a “loss” for words. She expresses that the common belief of women being a “vice” to the world and man, is absolutely absurd. She begins her book with this passage, and explains her goal for her contemporary woman and women for the future. “Our aim is to help you get rid of those misconceptions which have clouded your mind and made you reject what you know and believe in fact to be the truth just because so many other people have come out with the opposite opinion.” Christine wishes to make sure that whatever falsehood and deception any one person had ever said to the reader or any brainwashed fabrication into thinking their
An unlikely candidate to dispute the unfair, misogynistic treatment of women by men and society, Christine de Pizan successfully challenged the accepted negative views that were being expressed about women by the all-male literary world of her era. Part of Christine’s uniqueness stems from the time in which she lived, the middle to late 1300’s. The lack of a positive female role model to pattern herself after made Christine a true visionary in the fight for the equal rights of women. Her original ideas and insight provided a new and more intelligent way to view females. Pizan’s work, The Book of the City of Ladies, provided women much needed guidance in how to survive without the support of a man.
In order to gain income for herself and her three children, she wrote to support her family. According to the article “Christine de Pizan” published by Professor Pavlac's Women's History, “she became the first woman in Europe to successfully make a living through writing” (Lloyd). This is significant considering that women during this time were overshadowed by men. Even without a husband, Pizan sustained life for her family and was independent. Men of the Renaissance strived towards the advancement of themselves and though she had to unpredictably, Christine de Pizan did such on her own, resulting in her success.
The mysterious story of Joan of Arc had always been and remained the acute issue for the historians of all times. People regarded Joan either as a heroine that saved France or a witch controlled by the angel of Satan. Christine de Pisan, an author and poet, was born around 1364 in Venice. She was known for being a female writer, during a conservative time, in the 15th century which was something unusual to some. Thus, she was a successful French woman writer. Her topics ranged from royal biography to female education(hint of feminism). Her last work was poet and writer, in an epic poem style, was about Joan of Arc, or Ditié de Jehanne D’Arc in french, who had been believed to have been sent by God to help the French win the war against
This is definitely wrong as Joan of Arc was an enormous role model to the whole of France itself. She became the patron saint of France and the french people look up to her as a hero. She is someone that they’re proud to have and be a part of their country. Her example showed the French that anything was possible as she reversed a war between England and France in which France were losing in. Others may say that she didn’t achieve that much at all but what she achieved in a few years, we could probably only achieve in a lifetime. At the age of 17 she became the leader of an army and defeated England in a war that the French was sure to have lost. Joan of Arc was a hero, saint and role model to people everywhere and she
Prior to and throughout the late middle ages, women have been portrayed in literature as vile and corrupt. During this time, Christine de Pizan became a well educated woman and counteracted the previous notions of men’s slander against women. With her literary works, Pizan illustrated to her readers and women that though education they can aspire to be something greater than what is written in history. Through the use of real historical examples, Christine de Pizan’s, The Book of the City of Ladies, acts as a defense against the commonly perceived notions of women as immoral.
Gloria Anzaldua is among the many feminist theorists that has moved into the realm of addressing post-modern identities. In Gloria Anzaldua’s articulation of the new mestiza consciousness, she makes the argument of identities as multiple, hybrid, and more specifically created as a result of the Borderlands. However, according to Anzaldua, and despite the difficulties engendered by her very existence, the mestiza is also a figure of enormous potential, as her multiplicity allows a new kind of consciousness to emerge. This mestiza consciousness moves beyond the binary relationships and dichotomies that characterize traditional modes of thought, and seeks to build bridges between all minority communities to achieve social and political change.
Within the past 50 years, there has been an increasing amount of women in the government. Whether these women hold powerful positions such as Secretary of State, or hold minor positions such as PTA President, a political revolution is brewing. The United States of America is lacking substantially with regards to females in office, in fact if one were to look statistically at the amount of women in the government, the United States is failing tremendously. Although the United States likes to claim that they are the land of opportunities, it seems as if the only ones reaping those benefits are cis white males. But, there are women who choose to break the glass ceiling and attempt to explore the opportunities that are in front of them, and one

I, Daniel Garza, am terrified. Every night I have the same nightmare- vigilantes dragging me by the hair into the streets where they torture and kill me in daylight. Why, you may ask? Well, dear reader, I am a Unionist living in Texas, a confederate state during the Civil War. So far, no one knows of my “betrayal,” but I fear that one day, someone will, and my body will end up hanging from a tree.

It was really sad when she stated that her family from her mother side is literally “crazy”.
During the Renaissance period, the woman didn't have many rights, which causes them to become men's property. Female author Christine de Pizan changed this preposterous idea of men's controlling women's lives when she published the book, The Book of the city of ladies. Pizan was a French Renaissance author who wrote some of the very first feminist pieces of literature. She was one of the few women that were educated during this period, which meant she could write well. Pizan book changed women confidence and made them feel as if

What I learned from Laura Bobnaks essay was the way we think in high school is extremely different from what we think when we are adults. In high school, it’s all about doing everything we can to get out of there whether its cheating or studying. It doesn’t matter because in high school no one like a tattle tale or a rat.
