Thesis Statement and Main Ideas: Christopher Paolini
What if you came up with this idea for a book about dragons and you were only 15 years old? Well, that's what I did, Christopher Paolini. I was born in southern California on November 17, 1983. I was homeschooled my whole life. I used to write short stories and poems and I loved to read. When my mom tied to teach me to read I didn't want to learn. I didn't know why I needed to learn until I found Fantasy books when I was 10 years old. After I learned to read I wanted to become an author and I finally achieved that.
I was 15 years old when I graduated from high school and wrote a book about a boy named Eragon and his dragon. I used the Beartooth Mountains close to my home to create the scenery in my books. I had tried to start writing a book when I was 14 but I didn't know what I was doing so I started to research and get advice on how to write a book. After I graduated from high school at fifteen, I thought I would go to college. I applied to Reed College in August 2001 and was accepted. If I had gone I wouldn't have been able to write and publish Eragon. At first it was hard to sell because no one really knew who I was. Then Carl Hiaasen and his family were on vacation and his stepson picked up the book and read it. In the second book Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have just saved the rebel state from the forces of the King, cruel ruler of the Empire. Now Eragon is journeying to the land of the elves for further training in the way of the dragon riders. After fighting with Galbatorix’s soldiers Eragon and his dragon Saphira barely escape with their lives. But now Eragon finds himself in a tangle of promises he might not be able to keep. Now in the fourth book he has to confront Galbatorix. Will they be strong enough to to defeat
