A jury recently found Andrew Fordham guilty of deliberately pouring acid on his former girlfriend's face and leaving her permanently disfigured. Nevertheless, he did not break her spirit. In fact, the incident ignited a passion in Christy Sims, 44, for talking to others about domestic abuse violence. Since surviving the attack, Christy Sims founded the Christy Sims Foundation, which is a nonprofit organization to end domestic abuse through awareness and education. The incident occurred April 28, 2013. The 44-year-old divorced mother of two told jurors that Fordham knew she planned to leave him when he pretended to accidentally slip and splash industrial strength drain cleaner on Christy's face, arms, chest and neck. While Sims screamed and
An “audit failure” is a situation in which a professional auditor fails to detect a material error in the financial statements of the company they are auditing. The audit failure in the situation of Rita Crundwell the failure was exacerbated by the fact that the auditors continually signed off on the misstated statements for years. Crundwell is responsible for many of the deficiencies mentioned, such as the missing funds and the incorrect invoices. However, she is not the sole person responsible for this fraud. The lack of internal control is to blame, and this cannot be placed on a single person. The government should have separated duties and used
In health care, the nurse holds many responsibilities. The nurse must care for a patient by following the physician’s orders, assessing labs and objective data, in addition to discerning needs for the patient discharge plan. The discharge plan should be initiated soon after the patient is admitted to the hospital. The nurse, along with the interdisciplinary team, will assess the patient needs for returning home, with the nurse providing much of the discharge education. The purpose of this discussion is to choose two learning objectives for the Shadow Health patient Tina Jones. I will describe the teaching methods I would use, discuss how I would evaluate Tina’s learning, and list any possible barriers to learning. I will also relate this to
For Sarah Goodman’s case, the main evidence against her was other people’s accusations. With her already unpopular opinion it was not hard for people to think badly of her after two little girls accused her of witchcraft along with two other people. Whenever Sarah would walk in a room with the two girls they would begin rocking back and forth supposedly from Sarah’s presence. Another piece of evidence they brought was Tituba confession. She confessed that Sarah forced her to write her name in a “great book” to become servants of the devil. Tituba also said she saw Good with black and yellow birds that she sent to harm the children. One of the most damaging evidence hurting Good’s trial was her two daughters. Her eldest daughter at four years

Sabrina Butler was an eighteen year old mother who tried to save her child but, “her attempts at CPR were interpreted as fatal abuse” and she spent time on death row before being exonerated and found completely innocent of the murder charges ( ). Nicole Harris falsely confessed to punching her infant “because he would not stop crying” ( ). This confession came after detectives questioned her, without Mirandizing her, and immediately after the death of her child and having her other child taken away from her. The detective clearly manipulated her and used her child as “a tactic to secure a confession.” Luckily for her, her conviction eventually got overturned after receiving assistance by post-conviction attorneys, or she would still be in prison today (
Educators require just "books, a board, and a couple of legs that will last the day," Marva Collins told Dan Hurley in 50 Plus magazine. These three things were basically all that Collins had when she opened the Westside Preparatory School in Chicago, Illinois, in 1975 with the $5,000 she had added to her benefits subsidize. Frustrated in the wake of instructing in the state funded educational system for a long time, Collins chose to leave and open a school that would welcome understudies who had been dismisses by different schools and marked problematic and "closed off." She had seen an excessive number of kids go through an insufficient educational system in which they were given indifferent instructors, some of whom came to class artificially debilitated.
Ruby Collins was under surveillance by two RCMP officers regarding the suspicion of heroin possession and trafficking. While sitting at a pub, Collins was approached by one of the officers, who did not have a warrant, and was taken to the ground and placed in a throat hold to prevent any swallowing of the evidence. Following the incident, the officer found a green balloon which contained heroin inside it, and proceeded to arrest Collins for possession of drugs. Collins has claimed that her right under s.8 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms has been infringed, which guarantees her to be secure against unreasonable search or seizure
Nathalie BalisageMBA 630Dr. TravisTurner v. United StatesIn 1984, the brutal rape and murder of Catherine Fuller shocked many in the nation’scapital of Washington, DC. Her body was discovered in an alley where it was apparent that shehad been brutally beaten then sodomized with a metal pipe. Identifying the offenders of thisheinous crime proved difficult because very little physical evidence could be recovered from thecrime scene. After investigating and conducting extensive interviews, the police had a theory thatthe crime could have been committed by a group of teens, or gang members, attempting to stealfrom her. A group of sixteen teenagers were arrested, then only thirteen were indicted oncharges, and in 1985 eight young men were sentenced
Overall, Bridgette Hovis has a sweet tone. She is respectful to callers, supervisors, and agents. Bridgette tries to meet the need of her callers quickly and is not afraid to ask supervisors for help. She receives critque and close supervison well. Bridgette is often late for her scheduled shift due to personal needs with her children. I often pray with Bridgette and encourage her to continue to be positive in the spite of the situation she may be facing. She remembers her passwords and badge each shift. I would like to see Bridgette work on her perfessionalism in the work place more and I think she will become more professional in the work place over time. Bridgette can multi-task well and loves when she helps people meet their need. She
