Yes I believe the absence of a full-time CIO has had an impact on the system acquisition project in a negative sense. By making the CIO a part-time position, automatically there is a vibe given that IT is not a major priority and as a result with the CIO only being in the office 2 days every 2 weeks, IT becomes an after thought and the issues of inefficiencies, transfer and discharge backlogs etc. are not held to the same level of urgency as the rest of the 3 Phase construction project. Given that with the new management structure having a CIO only part-time, the appropriateness of the CIO leading the process is not as prevalent. The one who should lead the selection process is one of fairly high management who is employed full-time …show more content…
The chair of the committee should either be the CIO or the most senior Clinical Manager/Supervisor of the hospital. Both of these individuals should have a working knowledge of the hospitals IT needs and have a idea of what capacity management systems would work and which ones would not work based on the steps taken as discussed in the previous slide. Other committee members should include a Senior Physician, and Supervising Nurse as they can provide insight into the clinical needs for the system. Also, the committee members should include a senior administrator and one other Chief Executive such as the CEO or COO to give perspective from the business and management side of the hospital
With Doctors’ Hospital being a smaller hospital of 161 beds a realistic time frame for implementation of the capacity management system would be about 1 year. Some steps that can be taken to ensure the timeline is met include having the committee vote on making IT a top priority at every meeting, designating one committee member to oversee that the implementation of the system is on schedule, and creating a visual timeline for all the committee members to see to maintain
In this case study, first year third grade teacher, Maggie Lindberg, is having trouble controlling her class. The children are well-behaved during their art period. However, when Ms. Lindberg is in charge, they are highly uncontrollable. They talk when they are not supposed to talk and they don’t listen to anything that Maggie says. There’s supposed to be a nature walk/field trip and Ms. Lindberg’s class has yet to complete the task.

The objective of this report was to analyze Vivint-Smart Home Solutions’ performance in terms of organisational culture, management and leadership styles and motivation and how organizations have been affected by them. In this report, we identified that Vivint has an association of Hierarchy and Market organisational culture, relationship-oriented and task-oriented leadership styles and servant leadership style. Moreover, it demonstrated that Vivint has intrinsic and extrinsic rewards. These resulted in successful and unsuccessful practices of Vivint based on the Undercover Boss TV series based on three aspects which have been mentioned above. In addition, this report critiqued the Undercover Boss method for discovering the problems within an organisation and recommended other processes for uncovering issues. The results showed that organisational culture, management and leadership styles as well as motivation played significant roles in Vivint’s performance. Recommendations have been made to improve the unsuccessful practices of Vivint such as training managers to be empathic problem solver, examining and updating the working condition regularly, bonus for employees who give feedback voluntarily on management processes and offering fund to employees who are in need of support.

Managing demand and capacity: MGH could forecast the demand and research the bottlenecks in each area of process flow diagram (Exhibit 8) such as surgery room, Ellison 8 rooms, SICU floor bed, and other hospital beds. Based on the research, they can increase or decrease the resources such as staff or beds or even expand the facility. They need the data to forecast and manage the capacity. Without the data, it is impossible to manage the capacity. So MGH need to start collecting data to better manage the demand and available capacity. However, this would not help solve the current immediate problem in hand to improve the process and reduce costs.

Finally, the SST will need to analyze the amount of resources or assets available to serve demand (Langabeer, 2008). Quantitative data needed to measure capacity will include: the number of available beds and treatment rooms, the number of key providers and other staff available at each point of care between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., and availability of key medical technologies and equipment. Examples of key medical equipment are diagnostic imaging, X-ray and laboratory equipment.
