Technology is rapidly changing our lifestyles on a daily basis. From how we entertain ourselves, how we stay in contact with one another, all the way to how we pay our bills. Successful attempts within the world of information technology have significantly changed the way we do business as well. Web and mobile-based applications created a new platform for businesses to expose themselves to new clientele, along with staying abreast to what competitors are using to compete with them. There are obvious strengths behind LinkedIn that have made it one of the hottest social professional networking sites/applications around. Aside from being founded and ran by some of the great professionals like Mr. Reid Hoffman and Jeff Reiner (former Yahoo! Executive), LinkedIn has a user-friendly interface and simple but effective designing. It doubles as a career website as well as a social media website, which separates it from a lot of other websites. As mentioned earlier, LinkedIn allows companies to promote products and services on their website, creating more revenue and business opportunities for both sides. The website also complies with Web 2.0, which allows everything on the site run very smooth and efficient. Its’ mobile application takes part in the growing mobility of social media in smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices, creating new ways for people and businesses to connect with one another.
Future growth of this company and its applications seems to be one that looks bright, with the addition of new features. “As of March 31, 2012 (the end of the first quarter), professionals are signing up to join LinkedIn at a rate of approximately two new members per second” (LinkedIn Press Center, 2012). This is partly due to the wide range of advertising the company has been doing on other websites, especially job search sites that allow users to link their profiles with their employment information

It allows users to maintain a virtual resume that can be viewed and accessed by certain people with ease, depending on your privacy settings. LinkedIn also makes the process of looking for a job and maintaining a resume simple by filling out a form and pressing submit. With over 200 million users and the vast number of companies that use LinkedIn, it is becoming a social network that can actually be taken seriously and used as a resource. The more professionals and companies that register on LinkedIn as year’s progress, the more useful the social network will become.
This memo will discuss ways that technology can be used to improve this organization’s performance. Additionally, it will consider the optimal methods for expanding the business’s online presence to include online sales. This will include information on how to incorporate intelligent systems and security features to guarantee that customers’ interaction with the new system will be positive. This memo will also analyze this business’s current and anticipated technology and information systems and provide option for other technologies or information systems that will be beneficial for the company. In discussing these options, information will be included to show how the options will advance or improve the business and enhance our customers’ experience.
Over the years, technology has become a major part for a business and for an individual as well. Technology has become so advance that it has made a major effect for the staff as well as for the customers. New technology has helped in many areas such as data and information storage, advertising, transportation and communication.
If someone showcases his or her self on their social media profile, the employers has the opportunity to see this positivity. One might use Facebook to share volunteer activities, community involvement, club or school activity participations. However, a con to this is that the profile could be managed very careful so it’s not portraying the real person. The person may put all of the positive stuff out there but omit weekend partying and highly charged political or social views. Another pro is quantity; but, the con is lack of quality. While Facebook has hundreds of millions of users, which is a data base dream come true for a recruiter, the quality of the useful information from those profile may not be the best. Facebook tends to hold data pertaining to personal lives versus professional lives. However, LinkedIn is the opposite. The site is based on professional data and contains very little personal data. It is important for recruiters to know what information they are seeking before deciding which social media site to search

I’d like to use my LinkedIn profile for communicating with potential employers as well as creating business connections. I believe my profile can be effective for that because it’s well rounded and organized. Over time, I’ll create new connections in person and then I’ll be able to network with them through LinkedIn.
LinkedIn is a website specifically established for the professionals all around the world to network. The website allows people to search for business contacts, manage their professional identity, research firms, join industry groups and identify desired career opportunities. This website is also being leveraged by the brands and recruiters and many corporate profiles have been established on LinkedIn to recruit candidates and develop a pool of potential candidates through networking (Lewis, 2012).
It also gives businesses free advertising and publicity through updates, creation of Fan Pages and applications. Facebook also allows users to keep track of events, join groups, network with people and buy things among the few. Facebook differs by the amount of information other users can view as well as the large amount of applications assessable through the company but is not allowed in China. Facebook is more for social networking while LinkedIn is geared more towards professional networking. Facebook allows users create lists of professional friends so that they can get information to specific people. Both LinkedIn and Facebook can be used to job hunt.
LinkedIn Corporation is the company to study. LinkedIn Corporation operates as a corporation, owned by shareholders. It was founded in 2003 by Reid Hoffman and four others in Mountain View California. The company provides a web-based site for career management as well as professional networking activities. The main objective of the LinkedIn application is for the business to make a profit based on our use of the application. In regards to the users, the main objectives of LinkedIn are to develop a professional network by building a professional profile, nurturing your growing network and generating a professional reputation.
