City girl is what most people would say to define me. I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and had minimum experience in rural areas. Because I was familiar with the city, I became accustomed to city life; lights, cars, tightly built houses and local establishments. I realized that the loudness of the city kept my mind occupied and it was not until I enrolled in college at Malone where I found myself experiencing a calmer environment. Initially I was not too fond of Canton simply because it was too quiet and I perceived it to be rural. However, I realized that when residing in a smaller city, it is then when you are able to notice the beauty of creation. It was not until my Junior year of college when I felt a calling to care for creation

By the early 1990s, the South Bronx had changed. On my visits home from an upstate community college, I noticed that more and more neighborhoods had dried up. The “crackheads” and “crack whores” were gone, along with the drug peddlers who had barked:Red Top! Gold Top! I got Blue!Someone had cleaned the streets, dusting the drug dealers and drug users off the planet, leaving the South Bronx a ghost town.Coño, que pasó?By the early 1990s, the South Bronx had changed. According to Census data, 35% of people who live in the Urban Suburbs have at least Rural undergraduate degree. Tailing close behind are the big cities, with about 32% having a bachelor degree. Rural America however lags far behind with less than 20% having earned a bachelor degree (Press 2014). In 2017, The New York Times reported, that 29% of rural college-age teens were enrolled in college in comparison to 47% of urban college -age teens (Denby, 2018). There is no denying that rural America is consistently underrepresented in participation of higher education compared to their urban counterparts. In this paper, I will argue that that there is a clear opportunity gap that influences rural students in
Bread for the City is more like a network organization. The networked organization is one that connects together by informal networks and the demands of the task, rather than a formal organizational structure. The network organization prioritizes its “soft structure” of relationships, networks, teams, groups and communities rather than reporting lines. It is more a statement of intent to get things done flexibly rather than to rely on structure. “George A. Jones has been Chief Executive Officer of Bread for the City (BFC) since January 2, 1996. This non-profit organization tends to reach out and network with other organizations to gain funding and to run the operations of the organization and to achieve its goals. Its senior staff consists
I am beyond excited to participate in the Semester in the City Program. I like to learn about theories, history, etc. in a classroom setting, but more importantly, I love hands-on learning. The Semester in the City program provides opportunities for their incoming students to pair up with an organization/agency that addresses a social issue that the student is passionate about and allows them to develop the skills that they want to accomplish. I am interested in learning how an area that is becoming an urban area affects the local economy and education, while considering how the local economy and education system affects the urbanization process. A community plays an important role in creating resilient kids, so I think it is important to learn
In the text “The City: Masculine City, Feminine Country” explains to the readers that there was a distinction between a masculine city and a feminine countryside as the Renaissance period evolved in the article by Domosh. Chapter 3: The City informs us about how medieval cities were feminine and how the Renaissance was more masculine and rational because the medieval cities evolved without central planning or authority. Masculine City, Feminine Country on pages 69-71 explains the medieval city showed that femininity is represented more countryside rather than the geometric city like how men are perceived more rational because it evolved organically. I believe that the modern U.S is masculine
Gentrification is a trend in urban neighborhood where it indicates change in a population where it could have much much impact on a city. They kind of impact could be economic where it could affect neighbors tremendously. As said by smith, gentrification is driven by the demands of production and the necessity to earn profit among builders, developers, landlords, mortgage lenders, government agencies, and real estates as well (Smith, 128), especially here in New York

These young ladies moved to America to benefit their selves and make a change to today's society by getting their degrees and helping others. They lived happily for a long time, even got married and stayed connected as sisters through the phone. Then one day America decided it wanted to change the rights that they were allowed. Old America allowed them to live happily and enjoy life as they knew it, but when things changed their attitudes changed about America. They were ready to go back to India as soon as they retired. It seems like America made itself worse and worse throughout the years, and the people running do not seem to be helping. These ladies should not have to change when they are already legal and have done their contributions
From my experience with my daughter, that is not totally correct. There are many kinds of food that I like and I was always eating when I was pregnant my daughter does not like them. In my opinion, preferring tastes and smells is not something learn before born or innate I think it is something acquired.
In the following paragraphs, I will describe a Street Culture organizational policy, how and when the policy is applied in practice, develop recommendations for improving the policy, and discuss how I would evaluate the implementation of my recommendations.
The city I propose as a perfect city, would be as close to an ecocity as possible, although have some differences. For example, for electrical needs, I would suggest the city have a solar power plant, but on those desperate times, energy would be bought from other electrical plants from nearby towns or states.
