St. Jude’s target for marketing fundraising is far larger than most charities. Their target; preschoolers, professionals, 8th graders and 80 year olds, television, radio, local drives, school drives, trike-a-thons, math-a-thons, local, county, state and national events. Some of the big ones that you may be familiar with; the “Dream Home Giveaway”, the “Thanks and Giving Campaign” and the radio-a-thon “Country Cares”. Because of last year’s St. Jude’s NFL event, 18% of American’s said they planned to support St. Jude’s “Thanks and Giving Campaign” during this past holiday season. No opportunity is turned away.
The second annual launch of C/HOPE’s Summer of Engagement included over 75 alumni spread throughout nine of our alumni events. This year the focus centered on strengthening our alumni peer support network via events that emphasized team building and leadership development.
Upon research I found various slogans they use such as, “Finding cures. Saving Children.” And “Join our mission, become part of the team.” While these slogans are catchy and make you feel like part of the team, without doing research I would not be sure what they were talking about. St. Jude’s has increased survival rates from 20% to 80% since the hospital opened. They are only National Cancer Institute devoted solely to kids.
Jude Children's Research Hospital uses to achieve its mission to “advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment” (St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, n.d.). Social Medias such as Google Plus allow St. Jude to advance in its mission by allowing it to share the miracles which have taken place so it will have more donors to further the work being done. One example includes where a post describes a boy named Max who “suddenly couldn’t walk,” but “[thanks] to intensive treatment at St. Jude, he’s now back on his feet and, best of all, cancer-free” (St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 2018). In another post, the organization states that “families will never receive a bill from St. Jude” and that “approximately seventy-five percent of the budgeted costs of St. Jude are covered by public contributions” (St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 2017). These posts allow the organization to reach more possible contributors by expressing the importance of donating to the
Since 1962, St. Jude hospital has been a symbol of hope for children and families in the need. As one of the world’s premier pediatric cancer research centers, St. Jude hospital continues to provide the quality of research and treatment relying on the support of many donors to continue its lifesaving mission of finding cures and saving children.

Because this would be a charity event, there had to be a foundation or cause that all the profits would go to. It should be something that the people of Conant and surrounding areas could connect with and would be willing to donate to. If it is for a cause that the people believe in, more people would come to support the event, regardless if they are interested in the run itself or not. They would be willing to pay more for tickets if they knew that the money would be going to a cause that is near to their hearts. At first, the JDRF, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, seemed like a good place to donate to. This was because there are quite of few people at Conant who have juvenile diabetes and the annual JDRF walk would be the next day, so it could be a good way to join this event to the cause and promote the walk. But soon after learning about an eighth grade boy who goes to Mead Junior High has brain cancer, I wanted to help and thought that this was a good cause to support. The eighth grader, Alex, is from this area and would have been a student at Conant. There are many people in this area that would support this event because it is a part of the community and they would want to help out. There are two main charities that helped this cause. The Be Positive Foundation, helps kids with pediatric cancer and raises money to provide financial and emotional support to families of children with cancer. And at
As vice president of my school's NHS chapter, I am an advocate for good causes. Our service project this year is a substantial charitable endeavor. In 1996, a fellow NHS member and friend lost a sibling to SIDS. To assist his family's fight for a cure, our chapter initiated a fundraiser. Tee-shirt sales raised thousands of dollars; a ceremony at a football game advertised our cause to the community; our slogan “Big Steps for Baby Steps” galvanized the school; a partnership with the CJ Foundation for SIDS legitimized our efforts with sponsors. Each of the school's clubs and teams has dedicated itself to the cause. A 5k in May is our culminating event. Uniting an entire school and community behind such a worthy cause is gratifying. The other
Central Idea: Many charities are deserving of support, but St Jude is truly special. Everything they do for these children makes their lives and their family’s lives just a little bit easier.
Community engagement is an important component of The ALA’s programming. On the individual level, Lung Force heroes allows community members to share their experience with lung disease to inspire, encourage, and empower others to raise awareness for healthier lungs and advocate for clean air (Lung Force, 2016). On the organizational level, partnerships with companies, such as Oceanit and the Blue Planet Foundation, allow the ALA to collaborate with other organizations to facilitate one another’s mission and create a supportive network (ALA, 2016).
Since I first delved into community service two years ago, I have not only found a passion for helping others, but also a sense of belonging. After my freshman year of highschool, I was lacking direction. I had no idea what I wanted to involve myself in, but I knew I wanted to start something to help people. Therefore, my friends and I created our own charity, The Pink Bowz. Since 2015, I have worked in my community to expand this organization which helps women battling breast cancer. The Pink Bowz has since completed approximately 200 hours of community service and donated over $5000 to five women in the Hampstead - Wilmington area. Through this experience I found a passion for the fundraising process. I campaigned at my school to start a
