Thesis Statement: Civil disobedience is a peaceful protest designed to express personal opinions against a certain entity or belief, but is civil disobedience effective and, if so, is it necessary?

Intro:

The act of civil disobedience has proven to be prevalent throughout time and, recently, this issue has become relevant in the news and even here at CSUN.
The pros and cons of protesting in American society should be debated as well as finding alternatives to civil disobedience.
At one point or another, all of us here have witnessed, been affected by, or participated in acts of civil disobedience.
