The Civil rights movement occurred mainly on South America, which is a place where Black American mostly live at and where unequal education, business chances and other public processes were very clear (scholastic.com).

During the civil rights movement, individuals and organizations challenged segregation and discrimination with a variety of activities, including protest marches, boycotts, and refusal to abide by segregation laws. Some believe that the movement began with the Montgomery bus boycott in 1955 and ended with the Voting Rights Act of 1965, there is still however some debate about when it began and whether it has ended yet. Nearly 100 years after the Emancipation Proclamation, African Americans in Southern states still lived in a unequal world of disenfranchisement, segregation and various forms of oppression, including race-inspired violence. This is when the Civil Rights Movement was introduced; an era dedicated to activism for equal rights and treatment of African Americans in the United States. During this period, people rallied for social, legal, political, and cultural changes to end discrimination and segregation. This era included endless amount of events involving discrimination to minorities. This movement occurred somewhere between 1955 and 1965 but the exact time span is debated.

The civil rights movement occurred between mid- 1950s to late 1960s to achieve civil rights, equal opportunity in employment, housing, and education, as well a right to vote, and public facilities. In 1909, the NAACP had the most influence to fight for equality for colored people. Another group that believed in fighting for African American rights were the “Black Panthers” as known as the Black Power movement. The Black Panthers were an African American group that fought for African American rights.

The first Supreme Court case to involve the rights of human beings in America occurred in 1857 with Dred Scott v. Sanford. After being a slave in a free state, Dred Scott sued for his freedom, he later got his freedom but not by way of the Court decision. The Civil Rights Movement began in order to bring equal rights and equal voting rights to black citizens of the US. This was accomplished through persistent demonstrations, one of these being the Selma-Montgomery March. This march, lead by Martin Luther King Jr., targeted at the disenfranchisement of negroes in Alabama due to the literacy tests. Tension from the governor and state troopers of Alabama led the state, and the whole nation, to be caught in the violent chaos caused by protests and riots by marchers. Many African Americans decided enough was enough and decided to boycott and protest all establishments that still segregated them in the south. One of the most influential examples of this was the Montgomery Bus Boycotts that was led by Rosa Parks. This all started when a women names Rosa Parks decided not to give up her seat on a bus for a white passenger. Although she was immediately arrested for this action man y African Americans took this as call to action. She and many other African American began to boycott all buses as long as they would treat their African American passenger unequally.

The Civil Rights movement did not start off entirely strong. It gained most of its momentum in 1950, nearly ninety years after reconstruction. The Civil rights movement really began to kick off when the ¨Golden Age¨ began and with ¨The Freedom Movement¨ in the 1950s. The Brown case, Montgomery Bus Boycott, and Eisenhower all had a major effect of the start of the Civil Rights Movements.

During the Civil Rights Era, thousands of African Americans revolted for being discriminated for their skin color. Before the Civil Rights Movement, most to all African Americans were eliminated from most public places. For example, the dark skinned people weren’t allowed to go to the same schools as the whites.
