I. Classroom Setting and Proposed Set of Classroom Rules
The classroom setting for the following procedures is a 2nd grade classroom. I will set high expectations for my students from the first day of school. The learning environment in my classroom will be warm, open, and fair. The rules proposed for my classroom are as follows:
1. Raise Your Hand Before You Speak
2. Be in Your Seat and Ready to Learn When Lessons Begin
3. Listen When Others Are Speaking
4. Work Quietly and Respect Those Learning Around You
5. Follow Directions The First Time
6. Keep Hands, Feet, and Objects to Yourself
7. Always Use Walking Feet in the Classroom and Hallway
II. Describe your future classroom procedures for entering the classroom.

If needed, apologize to any classmate for unkind actions.
• Remain seated until Mrs. Hutchcraft dismisses you.
IV. Describe your future classroom procedures for using the drinking fountain.
Students will refer to the hand signal chart posted by the smartboard and the procedure will be as follows:
• Raise your hand and hold up three fingers. (This is easy to remember because it looks like a W for water.)
• Wait for the teacher to respond with the same hand signal while nodding yes or no.
• Stop by the door and pick up the water fountain lanyard.
• Walk directly to the nearest water fountain and back remembering hallway behavior the entire time.
V. Describe your future classroom procedures for gaining the attention of the whole class.
Attention grabbers or whole brain response is a wonderful way to get your students’ attention. The procedure is simple. I will say a phrase, and the students will respond with the corresponding phrase. These will be taught throughout the first week of school. In order for the system to remain effective, I will have several cues to rotate. The follow are just a few examples of my favorite.
• Class, Class ….. Yes, Yes!
• Holy Moly ….. Guacamole!
• Macaroni Cheese ….. Everybody Freeze!
• Flat tire ….. Shhh!
• Tootsie Roll, Lollipop ….. We’ve been talking now let’s stop!
VI. Describe your future classroom procedures for collecting and distributing materials.
• There are two ways
The three methods of setting ground rules offer advantages and disadvantages depending on the context of the lesson and the dynamics of the group. For example the teacher led process provides the teacher with a clear set of uniformed rules and offers the teacher an opportunity to consider issues which may otherwise have been overlooked such as the learning environment and
I have listened to and watched all segments and clicked on and watched and listened to all items in this module. Initial here: ______
“Helping students develop mathematical dispositions in which they share their ideas, discuss others’ ideas, and so on, is always a challenge,” (The National Council of Teachers Mathematics, 2003, P. 151). I found this quote and reading to be very relatable, in the sense that students can often struggle to come up with their own ideas. This was definitely true for me and my group when we were working on the locker problem in class. In the book and in class, discussions can really benefit students and keep them engaged. “To encourage all students to contribute to discussions, the teacher should ask other students to explain their classmates ideas,” (The National Council of Teachers Mathematics, 2003, P. 153) this statement made me think of dialogic teaching. Dialogic teaching is students having a rich discussion amongst each other while being guided by the teacher. The students find out the answer on their own and the teacher does not tell them. So social norms and classroom management plays a big role when students problem solve.
Last semester was exceptionally challenging; however, it was extremely beneficial because I had to work harder than any of my other classes before. I think various elements contributed to me being unsuccessful in Nursing 204. My aunt died in March with Lupus and that affected me in a huge on the grounds that she played a big role in my life, since I was a child. I was still in the denial stage and my emotions took over, which caused me to become less motivated in school. I just felt like I had no inspiration last semester and I should not have let my emotions hindered my education. In high school, I generally experienced difficulty taking tests that were not seeking the direct answers, and the Nursing 204 tests were not quite the same as the tests I would regularly take. My procrastination last semester played an enormous role in failing the course. When I initially
In the future, I will also keep all of the worksheets until I’m ready for the students to complete and follow along with me. In the future, I will also use a projector to model what I want the students to write down on their paper. During instruction, I will make sure that I give out clear directions and make sure that I have all of my students’ attention during the lesson. I will take the feedback from this observation to grow and also make sure that I teach all of the standards for the lesson. I also will make sure that I appropriately close the lesson so, that students fully understand the
Hold a chunk of your hair on the one side and move it around so that you can be able to see the hair roots clearly from a few angles.
In the second-grade classroom one of the largest issues that I face is the differences of viewpoint between myself and my co-op. Going into the classroom, there were several practices that confused me. I continue to see things that leave me questioning their effectiveness, and how they impact the students. This has left me feeling very frustrated. I often feel like my hands are tied because it is not my classroom, and the students are used to this system and I don’t want them to be negatively impacted.
I will be teaching first grade at Vale Elementary in Cashmere, WA. With 46.2% of the students who attend Vale are considered a minority, I will definitely have a variety of students in my classroom. Students come into the classroom with a range of cultures and expectations from home. Despite this range, I will have the same high behavior expectations of all of my students. I will expect my students to sit quietly and listen while another person is speaking. I will expect my students to follow directions and raise their hand when they would like to talk, answer a question, or need something. I expect my students to treat their peers with respect by using kind words, using a friendly voice and helping when they are

The studio classroom here at RPI is unique in the way that students and professors interact with it. The room was set up to cultivate open and creative thinking in order to inspire design. Due to the interactive nature of the studio classroom, both professors and students frequently use the white board when teaching or explaining class concepts. When selecting my project 2 product, I connected my experiences with the uses of the classroom whiteboard and thought of a “Whiteboard Squeegee”. Now that I am at the point in the design process where I analyze the potential users and stakeholders, I narrowed down the user group for the whiteboard to studio professors and students. There are certain characteristics that make this user group unique
The overall functioning of a classroom is impacted by trust, safety, and consistency. When a student does not feel safe he or she will reflect this through his or her behavior. Trust is important for students to take risks and allow learning to occur in the classroom. Trust, safety, and consistency are beneficial in the learning environment. A classroom where students feel safe, realize the teacher is consistent, and trust is developed, will allow students to grow and change socially, emotionally, and academically. This will offer a positive learning environment.
