Cleopatra VII is an important historical figure that ruled over Ancient Egypt as co-regent for decades with her younger brother Ptolemy XIII. Cleopatra was an utterly captivating woman who was able to attract men of high importance, including the famous Julius Caesar and Mark Antony. Although she was extremely beautiful, she was also exceptionally brilliant. The Pharaoh could speak various languages and even though she served as co-regent, she was the one who held most of the power during their reign. She used her intelligence and beauty to outsmart all the people around her to get what she wanted but these decisions ultimately led to her death in 30 bc (Herrell). It is important for people to understand who Cleopatra was. Not only is it important to know who this strong individual was, it is important for people to comprehend what she was capable of and how she achieved her goals as well as her purpose as a ruler. When classrooms are asked about Cleopatra, they automatically think of an Egyptian goddess and probably nothing more when in all reality, there is so much more to the historical individual. Cleopatra is an important part of our world’s history. She was the last pharaoh to rule Egypt because after her death, Egypt was ruled by Rome. Cleopatra was the first ruler to speak Egyptian in over 300 years even though she was not Egyptian herself.
