Climate change is a very real, and very present threat to countless of lives all around the globe. Temperatures are soaring in some areas, while they plummet in others. This drastic change in weather patterns can not only destroy the ecosystems of our planet, it also has the potential to wreak havoc on society with the smallest of changes. For example, it’s well known that the polar ice caps are melting at an alarming rate due to rising temperatures. This causes ocean levels to rise, which will eventually engulf many shore side cities, leaving millions homeless. This will lead to mass migrations of refugees that will hurt the economies and social structures of multiple countries, due to the influx of people that the countries may not be fully equipped to handle. These situations may be hypothetical for now, but they are extremely close to becoming a reality. So, then it is completely understandable why so many countries are now implementing policies to help manage climate change. However, are these policies enough? Many experts argue that not enough countries are committed to battling climate change. One could also argue that one lone country cannot possibly combat the effects of climate change, no matter how many policies they implement. Should there be a single committee, a single organization funded by any willing countries that will actively and more effectively combat climate change? Or should the individual countries try and solve this global issue on their
Studies held in Svalbard have shown that the reindeer population has been decreasing it’s body mass. Reindeer born in the 1990’s weighed about 121 pounds, and those born in 2010 weighed about 106 pounds. This issue is a direct result of climate change, which is the expansion of the greenhouse effect, that is being caused by the doings of humans. Climate change indicates warmer winters means more rain. When the rain freezes, it creates a thick layer of ice above their food, which prevents the reindeer from eating, and creating serious competition for other food. The hungry females either aren’t able to give birth or produce babies that are much tinier.
Sociologist perform an important role in the study and report on climate change for our world. For example, in order to understand the effects of climate change, sociologists study the implements of healthcare workers, influences directing politicians to report or not report climate change, big industry holders and what is at stake for them to lose or gain, and the effects on the community by the decisions of these entities. The global skepticism and uninformed views of climate change, a direct result of poor media reporting, government negligence, and industries pay offs, impede the movement to counteract climate change from further destroying the welfare of our world. To better inform societies around
Climate change is important because it affect everyone around the world. Scientist has said that during the twenty-century the average temperature has increased 0.6 Celsius. There are several warning that have been linked to people and the things we do to the environment like: factories, cutting down forest, driving cars and releasing toxic gases in the atmosphere. In the Artic glaciers are melting faster than the snow can freeze and restore them. All these things contribute to the warning signs we see today in global warming and climate change.
The idea that the earths climate is consistently changing is widely accepted by nearly every scientist around the world due to sufficient evidence and long term weather trends backing this conclusion. Climate change can be noted by the several juristic changes that are currently occurring within nature. It is causing an intensification of natural disasters-such as hurricanes, floods, droughts, and many more-due to warmer temperatures allowing for more moisture to be held within the air. It also causes a decrease in biodiversity within nature, causing several species of animals to become endangered or even extinct due to habitat loss. Both of these are just some of the many ways climate change is negatively impacting nature and ultimately us as a human race. Despite all of this evidence, there is still a sizeable group of people that do not believe in such climate change. Some, on the other hand, may believe in the issue, but ignorantly assume that it is not of any importance to them. They are wrong. There is more than an ample amount of evidence to prove that climate change is occurring now more than ever across the world, effecting ourselves as well as ecosystems more than we know. There are several organizations that meet to address and solve the global issue of climate change. Still, a wide majority of nations around the world choose not to become involved in these foundations, making them just as large of a problem, as they feed off of others contributions.
Climate change has been a highly controversial topic for the last couple of decades, in the last decade it has come more ever so pronounced under the public highlight. It is a very highly debatable topic in which many sides both scientific along with general public try to search for answers on if it’s a human caused one or one that just what mother earth herself continually goes though. I will be covering both the scientific reasoning on what might be causing climate change and how virtue along with feminine ethics would view their relationships with the cause. I will be covering as well the other side of the equation on if we are really the cause of climate change or is it one that the earth itself goes through with no human intervention. There is no doubt that we as human beings are overcrowding and over utilizing what our little blue ball can accommodate, We are also polluting ourselves into extinction with polluting not only our waters but our land as well. It’s a case that we really need to look at before this becomes another inhabitable planet within our solar system.
Scientists across the globe are being funded to research the effects of climate change. Why, some may ask. Not only does climate change affect the world around you, it affects you directly. Whether it be through air, land, or sea, the human population is not overlooked by nature. Every single person on this planet is faced with climate change symptoms on a regular basis. The focus of this paper however will be solely on how the climate change is changing weather patterns and natural climates to create more frequent, large tropical storms and increased costal flooding. These storms and flooding are often a concern for hundreds of millions of people worldwide (typically costal dwellers), with a multitude of health risks involved with them. A storm or two here and there may not feel like a problem, but when we look and find global patterns there is no denying this is not natural.
“Our generation has inherited an incredibly beautiful world from our parents and they from their parents. It is in our hands whether our children and their children inherit the same world” (Richard Branson). This quote is a brief rewording of the issue we have today with global warming. For those who are not aware of what global warming is, it is when too much carbon dioxide is added into the atmosphere. Global warming can cause sever hurricanes, intense weather, and many other natural disasters. For example, the lack of protection to our species and natural resources has led to many conflicts around the world. The lack of conservation of natural resources and need for habitat protection has had a major impact on the environment also.
Climate change is happening all over the world. From various regions like, the United States, to regions across the world like Antarctica and Greenland. Not only is climate change affecting people in the United States such as those who live on the East coast and are more prone to intense weather like storms or hurricanes, but it is also affecting various types of animals, such as polar bears. These issues will be further discussed. Regions all over the world, are experiencing climate change, because temperatures are fluctuating and in many regions, becoming warmer than intended. Climate change affects many organisms, and most of the effects of climate change are negative impacts on their life, or even destruction to their habitat.
Climate change is caused by human activity. This climate change in turn, causes hurricanes. The hurricanes will destroy the human population main resources. This will lower people into having less important resources such as: food, shelter, and water. Having less resources could lead to poverty, which is known in developing countries such as: India, Philippines, and Haiti (Weeks 56). There are also changes in the oceans that are being affected. This change occurring could lead to the ocean over flooding due to contaminating the ocean caused by humans because humans have an impact on the environment. Humanity needs to cut down the production in the coal industry because people are burning the coal; this is causing the coal to pollute the air people breath. The effects of climate change is caused by deforestation, overpopulation, burning coal, and contaminated food production.
Imagine not being able to see outside or imagine having to life in a shelter because the world outside has changed so much it's not as inhabitable as it once was. Climate change is impacting the earth in various ways that will eventually cause the earth to become uninhabitable due to the harmful impacts, to the negative effects to the environment, and how the humans and animals are getting impacted just the as the rest of the world. Humans must immediately address climate change in order to ensure survival of all living things that are on earth.
The world that we live in changes daily, as does our climate. The Earth's temperature has drastically changed throughout history. Over the last 650,000 years, there have been several different cycles of glacial advances and meltings. Around 7,000 years ago, the most recent ice age occured, which marked the ride of the current climate era. Despite the fact people are ignorant to just how significant climate is, the topic is especially important to all humans and animals, as it causes extreme weather changes, natural disasters and other crucial, harmful effects on both our community and health.
Melting ice caps, intense heat waves, and rising sea levels are all clear indicators that the climate is changing. Many scientists from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) predict a temperature rise of two to ten degrees Fahrenheit over the next century (“Global”). The future forecasts also calls for greater intensity hurricanes, droughts, and an ice free arctic. The public does not believe that climate change will significantly affect them but it will and already greatly has. Many different factors come into play when trying to find a cause for the changing climate, but a major one is greenhouse gases produced by human activities.
GOAL: To reduce the total number of greenhouse gas emissions world wide and slow, or stop, globe climate change.
The planet that is our home never ceases to amaze mankind with its seemingly never-ending mysteries. Home to about 8.7 million various species that roam the globe; the Planet Earth is considerably the most habituated planet in our solar system. Despite numerous attempts to research the other fellow planets in our system, it appears that many drastic changes have been taking place on our home planet. From the evolution of plants and animals, to the advancements in modern technology, every decade on earth seems to exponentially grow to new heights even greater than the last. Despite the physical growing trends that take place on our planet, we also face numerous changes that have lately been taking place on our atmosphere.
Climate change, either caused by humans, or naturally occurring, is beginning to affect several areas around the world and is causing human environmental insecurity in some already weakened states and regions. Climate change is defined simply as changes in the earth’s weather patterns. Change in climate becomes a security concern, for example, if decreased rainfall equates to decreased crop production in what was once a dependable food source that has now disappeared. The lack of this resource may produce rioting, corruption and increased crime for a replacement food source resulting in human migration causing instability in a nation or neighboring region. Using a constructivist lens to explain and counteract the deleterious effects of
