Climate Change is a Serious Problem to the Planet “Climate change is happening, humans are causing it, and I think it is perhaps the most serious environmental issue facing us.” This quote from Bill Nye illustrates the serious nature of climate change. Climate change is the most serious issue that is plaguing the world. Global temperatures have been increasing in recent years and it is clear that our climate is changing. Climate change is the change of temperature and weather in our environment over long periods of time. A majority of scientists suspect that humans are causing climate change by emitting CO2 into the atmosphere which creates a greenhouse effect and warms the planet. The effects of climate change are far-reaching, impacting ocean life and plant life across the globe. It also directly impacts humans because global temperatures may cause sea levels to rise and temperatures become too warm to live in. Climate change is real and is occurring because the effects of climate change can be seen in our oceans, in global temperature increases, and because humans are directly causing climate change. Climate change can be seen through the effects on our oceans. The planet is warming and an increase in global temperatures causes ice to melt. Unfortunately, this cycle is becoming problematic as it warms the planet’s temperatures. According to NASA, “Global sea level rose about 17 centimeters (6.7 inches) in the last century. The rate in the last decade, however, is
In the past few years, the issue of Climate Change has been introduced as an new and upcoming problem for modern leaders. There are many people who think Climate Change is a hoax, but at the same time there are many people who thinks it is the real deal. I am here to tell you that Climate Change is real and a very big problem. First off, Climate Change describes the increase level of greenhouse gases and the increase of temperature of the Earth overtime. In recent years temperatures in many areas have reached the highest they have ever been, and temperatures look to continue to rise.
Climate Change is the change in climate patterns and this problem has been weighing around us since the 20th century. “The scientific consensus reached in 2007 by the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is that warming of the Earth’s climate system is unequivocally taking place and that such warming will affect sea levels" (Coastal Council, section 1). The problem with climate change
In all, Earth’s oceans are diverse systems that all of life depends on for survival. The oceans act as a large conveyor belt; transporting varying volumes of water do different parts of the world. Any kind of alterations or disruptions to this conveyor belt causes regional sea levels to rise. These alterations are greatly impacted by anthropogenic climate change, the long-term alteration of earth’s climate as a result of human activities. The main ingredient behind climate change is the constant changing of global temperatures due to increasing levels of greenhouse gas emissions produced by humans. Mankind became intertwined with climate change during the industrial
As Bill Nye so aptly stated it, “Climate change is happening, humans are causing it, and I think this is perhaps the most serious environmental issue facing us.” Though there is much debate on the topic, climate change is a serious issue that needs the backing of powerful figures to help resolve it.
Sea levels have been rising over the past century, but the most significant change has happened over the past decade. The rise of sea levels is caused by two main factors: melting land ice and the expansion of sea water. Throughout this century the rate of global sea levels rising has been about 6.7 inches, but the rate has doubled over the past decade. This reveals that the rate of rising sea levels is speeding up and could have a major impact on island and coastal life (“Global Climate Change”).
Climate change has shown itself in many different ways. For instance, the global temperature has gone up little by little since 1880 (Shaftel). This then accumulated to an increase of 1 degree Celsius in 2015 (Shaftel). The global temperature rise shows that the earth is heating up due to the heat being trapped by the greenhouse “blanket” created by humans. Along with rising global temperatures, the ocean’s water level has risen roughly
Climate change is an increase in the Earth’s average temperature. It’s a massive problem because of the disastrous effects it can cause and has caused. The current effects and proof of climate change include ocean acidification, more extreme weather events, melting glaciers and ice sheets and warming oceans (NASA). Almost 97% of scientists also believe that climate change is due, at least in part, to human activities that pollute the atmosphere . The evidence that shows climate change is occurring and is due, in part to human activities is overwhelming. However, people still deny it’s existence, hindering those who want to look for solutions. Climate change is very real, whether you choose to believe it or not.
Dealing with a warming period, a school of thought argues that humans are the primary factor of the rising sea levels. An opposing argument tries to prove that the current situation of sea level changes is as the result of a natural cycle of warming and cooling. Regardless of the perspective on this issue, all parties have a common understanding that the ocean level is in fact rising. Around the world, evidence supports the fact that the world is going through a warming period. From the melting glaciers to the lack of snowfall, the warming period is upon us and the largest effect is the coastal lines around the world.
For many people, just hearing the words “Climate Change” can cause different responses. Some people describe it is as being a “natural” thing for the Earth to do. Having the belief that since there was warm and cold periods before, that it is a reoccurring deal. Wrong. The change in the atmosphere is something that has become more and more apparent in recent times. The apparent changes are the ones that the human race has caused. The rise of atmospheric carbon dioxide, which is cause by all of the harmful gasses that get emitted into the air, is at an all time high. The Earth is constantly having things happen due to the harmful gasses. The Earth is becoming warmer and warmer due to “human activity since the mid-20th century” (NASA, 2017). Consider this: The crazy weather the world has been having lately. When conducting come research, there will be discoveries that years ago, there were not that many natural disasters going on. Due to the high emission of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, there have been more natural disasters and things happening in the atmosphere. There are more and more people who are driving now and all of the gasoline being used is causing the crazy events due to the change in the climate. If everyone all came together and doing something about this fast growing problem, the world would be a cleaner place. Climate Change could end up destroying the planet if it is not taken seriously.
Climate Change is an important topic that everyone should be well versed on. Global warming was denied as being a real problem for many years, but the proof cannot be hidden anymore and countries around the world are acknowledging that global warming does exist. It is my pleasure to know that our country will participate in the United Nations Climate Summit. As the CEO of an environmentally conscious company, it is my honor to represent the United States of America at the Summit.
Climate change is an ongoing problem in our world. There are many health effects, shortage of resources due to energy use, and perhaps more importantly, the detrimental and in some cases irreversible environmental impacts. The climate does change due to natural forces, however; human impacts are the cause of such dramatic change. “Unless greenhouse gas emissions are severely reduced, climate change could cause a quarter of land animals, birdlife and plants to become extinct” (Weather Information, 2014). Some effects on these animals are mammals coming out of hibernation earlier than usual, plants blossoming, and even birds laying their eggs at earlier times in the year. Migration is being effected by global warming and a result is animals moving closer to the north and south poles which shows that the animals are sensing a major change in their once inhabitable environments. Climate change greatly affects many species survival, migration, and breeding.
Is climate change a real problem? Do humans have a large impact on climate change? What are the effects of climate change if it is indeed a major issue? If you turn on a major news station or go to a major news website, you will most likely find a plethora of questions like these and an even more substantial overabundance of answers that will more likely leave you asking more questions than you would have when you began. Climate change has been and will continue to be one of the most discussed issues in politics and at family meals. Climate change believers constantly stressing that climate change is happening right now, these changes are directly because of what humans have been doing on Earth, and finally that something has to be done or
What is climate change? Everyone in their entire life has asked this question at least once, and unfortunately have never heard the detailed answer they deserve to hear. Climate change is commonly known as the change in weather in a specific area. For example, it could be the change in the amount of snowfall that occurs or the amount of heat given from the sun. These occurrences normally take millions of years to change, but the changes have brought many negative effects to our world. One example of this is rising sea levels, which have caused an outburst of natural disasters strongly impacting animals, people, and the environment. This essay will demonstrate the possible effects, rising sea levels bring to the earth in the near future, and how these changes have already negatively impacted the world.
Climate change can be defined as the study of weather patterns over an extended period in any environment and at any time of year. Global warming relates to climate change because it is the ongoing increase of Earth’s normal temperature. The cause for climate change is due to the rise in concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere like carbon dioxide, methane, ozone, and water vapor. Issues that arise because of climate change are sea levels rising, growth in ocean heat content, and buildup of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere due to human activities. Humans contribute the most to climate change by engaging in driving, burning fossil fuels, and natural gas distribution. Climate change is conceivably evolving due to human activities and minimally biological factors but, climate change is still a scientific phenomenon that requires further investigation.
This issue is no longer a myth, hoax, or conspiracy among scientists. Climate change is very real. Climate change is a change in the statistical properties of the climate system when considered over long periods of time, regardless of cause (NASA: Evidence). The term climate change is often used to refer to anthropogenic climate change. Anthropogenic climate change is caused by human activity, one of the biggest causes of climate change (NASA: Evidence). It was found that human activities had the potential to drastically alter the climate. The term climate change replaced climatic change as the dominant term to reflect an anthropogenic cause. Certain human activities have been identified as primary causes of ongoing climate change. The term climate change has become directly related with anthropogenic global warming. Global warming refers to surface temperature increases while climate change includes global warming and everything else connected with increasing greenhouse gas levels (NASA: Evidence). Climate change refers to a change in average weather conditions, or in the time variation of weather depending on the conditions.
