Linking Information Processing Systems & Creativity: Interview with a College Student
Introduction
The purpose of this clinical interview was to gain a deeper understanding of how a student conceptualizes the learning process through development. The goal of this clinical interview was to engage in a channel of communication with a beginning college student to inquire about educational experiences that would provide the necessary facts to connect significant educational concepts covered during class lectures, theoretical presentations, and assigned readings. In my efforts to accomplish this interview, I constructed several questions for my interviewee that seemed appropriate and in line with the theories and/or concepts that interested me the

I will refer to my interviewee as “John” to follow ethical protocol and to protect his identity. John is a 21 year old Caucasian male who lives at home with his mother. He is an undergraduate student majoring in Kinesiology at a California State University who aspires to become a teacher and athletic coach after completing his undergraduate education and teacher credential program. Although John comes from a single parent home, his cultural background is diverse as he identifies himself with Italian and Latin ancestral lineage. John’s family has lived in California for many years and consider themselves Catholics in faith who attend a local Catholic church. Since I know John somewhat on a personal level, I felt that he would be an appropriate interviewee as he is an emerging adult who seems ambitious; one who is taking his education seriously while compassionately pursuing his goals. Since John’s goals are directly related to education, I believed that his insights would prove to be an asset for the purposes of this assignment and a topic that could possibly benefit him in the …show more content…
Through reflective thoughts, my interviewee was able to recall meaningful memories and connect those memories with other memorable experiences. I was pleased with the outcome of these questions and answers because the data shows that there is a correlation between specific answers received and the concepts that were being examined which accomplished the direct goal of this assignment. When I asked John about a meaningful event that has occurred in his life that has left him with memories of that event, he was able to quickly recall this event. John explained
On September 8, 2015 I interviewed Dr Smith at his place of business in Washington, MO. Dr Smith gave the following information: Arlene Skornia and her husband Wilbur had been patients under his care for 10-20 years. He had overseen Arlene on several hospitalizations, and surgical recoveries, finding her and her husband to be intelligent, articulate people. He had met her sons but had little direct contact with them.
Based on the information obtained from the intake clinical interview by client Paul Repko, there is some evidence that could potentially define his symptoms as a mental disorder. First, there is some dysfunctional behavior as Paul notices that his attitude as a new divorce is affecting his ability to maintain relationships. Also, his state has caused Paul some distress causing him anxieties in several aspects of his life: financially, romantically and emotionally. Even his loved ones are noticing an increase in aggression since the divorce, especially towards different female characters in his life such as his sister and current girlfriend. Additionally, there is some sense of deviance and dangerousness due to Paul expressing his idea of discipline as a physical punishment, which is not socially acceptable and can potentially turn into abuse. For all these reasons, Paul came voluntarily to overcome his irritability and anxiety he has been experiencing more lately.
In order to fully capture the idea of the best treatment options for teenagers I had decided to interview a woman from Glenoaks Hospital, whose job is to work with teenagers who are suffering from mental illnesses. Her name is Alex Bielski; she has been employed at Glenoaks Hospital for a year, but has previously worked at Timberline Knolls, a residential treatment center. During the interview, she answered the questions based off of her experiences at Timberline Residential Treatment center since that is where the majority of her experience was gained. While working at Timberline knolls, she had twenty-four patients who she saw regularly. Often times her patients were already diagnosed with depression and mood disorders. Based off of Alex’s experience, her patients common cause for depression was because of family conflicts, bullying at school, and

For my health care interview assignment I chose to interview Mayra Cruz, Certified Nurses Assistant. She works at Cuidado Casero Home Health and Hospice at 1617 E. Missouri Ave, El Paso, Texas. In my interview with her she described her job duties, her patients and how she interacts with others in her environment. In addition, she identified the length of time she has been in her current position, her career path that has led her to this position as well as her experience in the health care industry. Her education and what requirements were necessary for her certification. She also wonders if the education she received proper and
This writer agreed to meet with the patient as she missed group and her scheduled individual session with this writer. The patient apologized to this writer for her absence and then reports about transportation issue. This writer discussed with the patient about her MVA this month on the 18th and the status of obtaining a police report. The patient reports, " I can get the police report by the next appointment. I just have to go to my insurance company that isn't too far from where I live to get a copy of it."
I watched all the videos and chose to comment on video # 1 nurse-patient interview (leaton25). When Linda Davis (the nurse) started the interview she appeared professional, she was dressed well, introduced herself, made eye contact with Mrs. Eaton (the patient), shook Mrs. Eaton’s hand, and explained what she was there to do. Linda provided information and showed a knowledge of professionalism and effective communication techniques; however, Linda was not therapeutic, nor did she act in a professional manner for the remainder of the interview. Linda did not maintain eye contact with Mrs. Eaton, she was rushed with her closed-ended questioning method, looked at her watch, purposely ignored Mrs. Eaton’s complaints of pain, did not acknowledge Mrs. Eaton’s social issues, and she offered false reassurance for Mrs. Eaton’s verbalization that
The nurse should ensure that the patient remains well hydrated prior to the procedure. The nurse also instructs the patient to void immediately before the exam. In addition, the nurse marks the locations of the appropriate peripheral pulses with a felt-tip pen. Also, prior to the procedure the nurse should further prepare the patient by instructing him to remain immobile during the examination in addition to explaining to the patient possible sensations that could be felt during the procedure, which include a brief feeling of warmth in the face, behind the eyes, jaw, teeth, tongue, lips, and a metallic taste once the contrast agent is injected.
For this assignment I was fortunate enough to interview my uncle who’s a nuclear medicine Technologist BSN. He graduated in 2008. He has working in the hospital for over 6 years now and over the years he has gain an insurmountable amount of experience. Along with that came increase of pay. While interviewed him he elaborated on how they use medical imaging as radioactive isotopes, which relies on the process of radioactive decay to treat a diagnosis of disease, a patient might be having. He seems very excited and enthusiastic working in this field while dealing with patients and also treating their source of illness. He tells me each time that his main goal in life was to be able to provide sustainable, substantial and affordable care
I have wanted to be a Clinical Psychologist for years. I love helping people, and learning about people. On roadtripnation.com I looked at three different interviews and learned so much from each interview. I watched interviews of Charles Garfield, Jeannie Dixon, and Al Merrick. Charles Garfield is a Psychologist that originally was in the field of math and science working on the moon landing project.
As the world evolves and changes, so do paradigms and ideologies towards psychology. The counseling psychology movement has manifested progressive results within the field of psychology. I wish to become a part of this branch of psychology and enable others through the beneficial research based assessments and systems. To further learn more about this sector of psychology, I reached out to my aunt Susanna and asked her more about her job, specifically her day to day tasks as well as the steps she took to gain her position. She is a clinical psychologist for a non-profit clinic, but she has also been a counseling psychologist of a non-profit clinic as well. After this interview, I feel more knowledgeable about this particular field and grow more excited about my goals to gain the skills to be a counseling or clinical psychologist.
The methods section comprised of an episodic interview that focused on life experiences are encoded and remembered as a narrative and also semantic knowledge that is based on abstract concepts and the relations between
Race, ethnicity, religion, class, sexual orientation, ability, and gender have all impacted my life in ways beyond my total comprehension. However, I can begin to identify some of the notable interactions and effects and discuss the ways in which they might present themselves in my teaching practices. I am a White, European American, Christian, and heterosexual female without a medically ascribed disability. I can say that ultimately (and unfortunately) my cultural and physical identity is considered normative within the United States and has placed me on a path of privilege and power. Throughout my life, though, I have been fortunate to encounter other cultural groups in very meaningful ways. My international, religious, and family experiences have shaped my worldview most notably.
One day when I was in the 8th grade studying in Mexico, one of my professors assigned the class to interview someone that worked in the field of our chosen future profession. Since I wasn't certain of what I wanted to become or study in the university, I decided to interview our family pediatrician that took care of me and my sister when we were kids. The reason why I decided to interview our pediatrician was because it had been one of the options that I had during the assignment, nothing else. Our pediatrician's character and charisma made it easier for me to complete my assignment, yet it was his character and humble heart that created confidence with every child he saw. I always believed that his profession was simple, however when I took
