I would like to become a clinical mental health counselor because I like helping people. I feel there is a lot of people in the world that just want someone to listen to them and help them with whatever they are going through. People are always coming to me to listen to their problems, help them with their problem or just a shoulder to lean on. I work with the developmentally disabled population for thirteen years and some of them are dually diagnosed with mental illness. They are the most overlooked population because certain people in the world look down on them and feel no one care about them and what they have experienced. Some of them have gone through traumatic events and they keep it in because they think no one would listen to them.
I hope to become an occupational therapist after I finish college. I always knew that I wanted to do something with people that involved helping them. I hope to provide support for those who believe that the things they used to do are now impossible. I want to be the person who helps them see that those things are possible, and they just need some help getting there. I also want to be the type of therapist who lets their patients know that whenever they need help I will be there to assist them. People feel hopeless if they are not able to do the things they always could, but I want to take that feeling and make it blossom into the wonderful feeling that hope can bring. People deserve to be happy in their bodies, and they should not feel ashamed
Based on our research in the TRICARE Manuals and 32 CFR Part 199.6, we see nothing that would waive certification authority. The TRICARE Policy Manual, Chapter 11, Section 3.11 lists out the requirements to be a TRICARE Certified Mental Health Counselor (TCMHC) with no exceptions.
First, the identification of a licensed chemical dependency counselor would suffice at the moment. A licensed chemical dependency counselor are counselors that specialize in identifying and treating addictive behaviors that are maladaptive, altered from cognitive imbalance, and from physiological discrepancies, or frequent intoxication to achieve homeostasis or functionality to some extent. In other words, licensed chemical dependency counselors establish and implement treatments to help people cure their addictions from substances which they are chemically dependent on. Second, the nature of chemical dependency is to be acknowledged. The nature of chemical dependency is not very well understood by human population. Many people see addictions as diseases, immoral behaviors or sins, as maladaptive behaviors, and some may view such substance dependence as out of control behaviors as well. However, chemical or substance dependency is a mental issue. The mind tells the body that it needs a certain substance to function, it is a craving that is difficult for the body to ignore, and the body cannot function until such a need is met. The change in behaviors, mood and conscious motivates the mind further to continue finding ways to meet this need. Therefore, there is not only an addiction, but a chemical dependency issue as well. It is strong and difficult to defeat. It is strong enough that it may cause some people to conduct criminal activities or infringe upon the rights and
In the statue of rules of regulations in Indiana to become a certified addiction counselor, the three statues that I found interested is: a certification in addiction counseling is acceptable, ten years of experience of being a addiction counselor, and under supervision, there is one hundred fifty credit hours needs to be complete in a internship. The credentials that needed to have a certification in addiction counselor is to have thirty-six credits and a practicum. An addiction counselor can have a minimum of a high school diploma or can have a bachelor degree. I can receive a certification unless than a year and can practice in the State of Indiana.
Mental Health Counselor is the career I have decided to go for. It took me forever and a lot of thinking to decide exactly what I want to do with my life. I have dealt with depression, anxiety, self harming all within myself. I also dealt with watching my father abuse alcohol, and getting cancer and passing. My daughter is ADHD, ODD and suffers with anxiety. I also work in a group home taking care of mentally challenged people. Altogether I've dealt with a lot and I think experiencing everything I have, would make me understand and be a good mental health counselor.

I first knew that I wanted to be a counselor as a child. No one in particular inspired me to want to be a counselor, but I do feel that I chose marriage and family therapy due to the issues that my family has or had and never thought to seek counsel. There are many families out there that have issues but do not believe in therapy. My own parents do not see the usefulness of as they say, going to sit on someone’s couch and pay them to listen to your problems. As a child I can recall sometimes thinking if I just had someone to talk to that would understand. That is why I chose to become a marriage and family therapist, to help all the people that want help.
My goal is to pursue a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My dream is to provide counsel and guidance to individuals, families, couples or groups of people; who are dealing with issues that affect them physically, emotionally and mentally. I would like help clients determine why they are experiencing their life challenges, develop goals and actions to resolve their issues. I would like to provide life changing advice to support & help clients overcome outstanding life situations, collaborate assessment and maintain treatment. With this I’m inspired to work in the
I want to take Psychology because I would love to help those who are struggling with mental health issues. I know how it feels to not have anyone to talk to who has been in that same situation. Also going back to school would show that I am trying to make changes and not go with the flow of life. When you have young children who look up to you, everything in your life changes and it makes you want to make those changes and grow up already. I would be the first person in my family who is going back to college and knowing that makes me want to try even harder. Sitting around every day doing nothing really gets to you. I realized since I have extra time on my hands I can use that time to get an education for myself. Getting a degree is really important to me. I have a certificate from Arizona College of Allied Health for Medical Assisting. I have tried to look for a job here where I live as a Medical Assistant but no luck in getting a job. I believe that getting a degree would really help with my career goals in life and would make me feel more secure about
Growing up as a child, many children would watch cartoons and play video games, but I took an odd liking into watching videos about different mental illness. For the longest, I have been fascinated with the human mind; trying to figure out how it works. Entering into my adulthood, I became an individual who was an open vessel for people to dump their problems into. I get gratification out of being able to help people with their problems and see them with a smile on their face. Being a counselor's is not just making someone's day or listening to their problems, but it is also about spreading mental health awareness to other individuals. I selected the Mental Health Counseling program because one day I seek to become a Mental Health Counselor. Having a Mental Health Counseling degree, will
As a mental health counselor in training, I look forward to continuing the process of being aware of my own beliefs and biases. I also recognize that I am human and anticipate some life issues presented by clients will present challenges that I encounter.
There are many reasons I want to pursue a degree in clinical mental health counseling. First and foremost helping people has always been a passion of mine from an early age. Having come from a troubled past as a child and young adult and being able to completely turn my life around, I want to be able to help other troubled youth do the same. I fully understand how dealing with drug and alcohol addiction, grief and loss, mental health disorders, and physical handicaps can have a negative, lasting impact on a child, if not dealt with appropriately and in a timely manner. Living through these personal experiences has given me a glimpse into the team that is required to achieve success and I want to become an intricate part of that team.
Pursuing a career in Mental Health Counseling has been a part of my plan since I
I knew my career would consist of me counseling individuals. I would like to be a mental health counselor because I would like to help clients identify symptoms and develop a treatment plan. I would like to ensure that my clients receive the best plan which will lessen the degree of their condition. In order to overcome their condition, the individuals would have to develop healthy growth and show signs that symptoms are going away. The individual would have to make strides in overcoming the barriers which may hold him back.
