Jason Zengerle’s GQ article “Bill Clinton’s Big Moment: His Health, His Battle Plan for Trump, and What He’ll Do if Hillary Wins” talks about Clinton’s health, his role in campaigning for Hillary, his general life as an ex-president, and his role in a possible Hillary presidency. The first topic that Zengerle talks about in his article is Bill’s role as ex-president. As ex-president, he writes books and builds museums to remember his accomplishments. Now, his wife, Hillary is running for president. Adjusting to being in the background of Hillary’s campaign was a huge challenge for Bill in 2008. One Democratic insider close to the former president characterized his background role this way: ”It’s hard for him. He’s the guy who’s used to batting cleanup, and suddenly someone says, ‘Just go over there and give me signs, and I’ll hit’” (qtd. In Zengerle). He has adjusted to that role much better in 2016, Zengerle reports. Zengerle shares an experience that Bill had with a student at Oakland. Her name was Emma. She asked Bill if her and her boyfriend could recreate the picture behind Rabin and Arafat with Bill. That was a famous shot with Clinton. He hesitated at first, but that quickly changed. He proffered a memory. Emma didn’t ask for a picture. As ex-president, he gave a speech at the democratic national …show more content…
Ron Burkle was a traveling companion of Clinton. Burkle was a billionaire. Ron let Clinton use his private jets to travel to Africa and underwriting medical clinics that he was starting there. Burkle was a concern of people because he was a playboy, people believed that his private jets were just a place for fornication. Burkle introduced women to Clinton, including Burkle’s girlfriend who Clinton had mistaken as his granddaughter. People knew that Ron was bad news for Clinton. They felt that Burkle might jeopardize Hillary’s election if she made it that far, enough though she
An idea explored heavily in the documentary is the role of media in Presidential elections. Newspaper headlines are shown throughout the film, showing where Clinton was in the race. Media is crucial in shaping public opinion in an election and a lot of the campaign strategies depicted in the film concern promoting positive media representation of Clinton. A tactic used to control the media was to try to dig up information on opponents in order to cast them in a bad light. The film shows the Clinton campaign dealing with the Gennifer Flowers scandal early in the film. Flowers, a model and actress, came forward during the 1992 election campaign claiming that she had a 12 year relationship with Bill Clinton. These allegations
Following the hearings on Whitewater, Monica S. Lewinsky began working as an unpaid intern in the White House chief of staff’s office. In August of 1995, Monica attended a surprise birthday gathering for the President on the South Lawn. While there, the President shook her hand as she wished him a happy birthday. Monica would later describe this encounter to the Office of Independent Council, in the presence of a grand jury, as the beginning of a “flirtation that went on at a distance.” (Gormley 235).
Clinton’s first problem occurred in 1994, when Paula Jones claimed that Bill Clinton propositioned her and exposed himself to her while he was governor of Arkansas. Clinton denied everything from the beginning. In 1997, Clinton offered $700,000 to settle the case, but Jones only wanted an apology. If Clinton did not do anything wrong, then why would he pay a hefty fine to dismiss the case? April first of this year, the Jones case was dropped, but was reopened in November. Jones came out with a recorded $800,000 settlement (Froomkin 1).

President Clinton’s life was very exciting and interesting, especially his early life. He was born on August 19, 1946 in Hope, Arkansas. “His father died in a car crash 3 months before Bill was born. He was left in the care of his mother, Virginia Cassidy Blythe. To provide for Bill, his mother moved to New Orleans, Louisiana to study anesthesiology, while Bill stayed with his grandparents, Elridge and Edith Cassidy.” (Biography.com, April 25, 2017.) The stately white columns the interior for The Arkansas capital lead to the executive office occupied by William J. Clinton only 30 years ago. After a successful college career at an elite university Governor Clinton decided make the move home to his birth state of Arkansas. Hillary Rodham begrudgingly followed along with fierce independence and a law degree. Rodham maintained a job at the university of Arkansas after her husband’s loss in a congressional election, and practiced law through court appointments. Eventually her husband would successfully run and become Arkansas’s Attorney General, then Governor. As Hillary continued to practice law, her focus would eventually shift to early childhood education and health. Rodham wasn’t what Arkansas envisioned for a first lady at the time. She was a working wife, who refused to take her husbands last name, and didn’t seem to fill the role as a traditional homemaker. Still, her husband remained fairly popular after his rebounding election in 1982. In 1992 and 1996, Clinton easily carried the state, although that was the last time a Democrat would take the six electoral votes from Arkansas. Now in a matchup with New Yorker Donald Trump, it is highly unlikely Arkansas’s former first lady will come close to Trump in the Natural State. Racial distribution, religion, education, a large rural population, and indications from previous elections, all point toward a significant Clinton defeat on November eighth.
One of the things Clinton is most famous for, but not the proudest of, is his affairs. The issue of Clinton having an affair with Monica Lewinsky is purely personal. It should have been discussed within his family and in his family alone. Many people seem to forget that Presidents before him have done the exact same thing. John F Kennedy is probably the best known with his affairs. This doesn't diminish the fact that Clinton took it one step farther and lied about the affairs.
The former president and husband to Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton faced heavy backlash earlier this week in Philadelphia when confronting a protesters who
While it is too early to accurately judge the presidency of Bill Clinton, most would agree that he was successful in office. He was the first democrat to successfully be reelected since Franklin Roosevelt. Yet, when a sufficient amount of time has passed and historians attempt to categorize and analyze Bill Clinton’s presidency, his legacy will ultimately be tied to scandal. The numerous scandals that Clinton faced – and survived –were an important aspect of the Clinton presidency. On one hand, they showed the well-documented weakness of Clinton’s personal character – his infidelities, his evasiveness, and his lack of integrity. Yet, Clinton’s ability to survive these scandals are a true testament how politically cunning and brilliant the man was.
