Ancient Greece Did you know that the Greek Empire began in the eighth century BCE, and fell to the Romans in 146 BCE? . In this report I’m going to tell you about the status of women, mythology, ways of travel, clothing, architecture, and oddball facts. Unlike us having our 1st world problems the “Greeks were not fussy about their clothing.” Unlike us in the USA the Greeks’ clothes “they wore were made simply and for function.” Unlike the richest/girly girls we all know today only “A single piece of fabric could be styled and restyled to fit a particular occasion or fashion.” And with Greek summers being brutally hot, the less fabric...to deal with, the better.” ““The style and type of the garment depended on who was wearing it, and the job

The Greece and the Roman empires are considered to be amongst the most powerful empires in history as their impact is still felt some 2000 years after they were conquered. The Greece Empire is said to have lasted for approximately 350 years while the Roman Empire is said to have lasted for between 500 and 1500 years based on how one interprets the rule of the Romans (Ahbel-Rappe 530). Over time, there has been a debate on which of the two empires was strong than the other based on the impacts to the ancient world. From the debates, it has been noted that some individuals hold on to the fact that the Romans managed to develop a world that the Greeks only dreamed about while others have maintained that the Greeks had built a better world than the Romans (Roisman 410). Based on my knowledge of the two empires, I think the Romans were better than the Greeks thus making the Greeks to dream of building a world similar to that of Romans. As such, this paper will give points for and against my claim.
The Peplos which first appeared in ancient Greece was considered an attire for women in ancient Rome. This statue which was discovered bordering a swimming pool, and exhibited alongside 4 other bronze statue of women (statue 2, statue 3, statue 4, statue 5), gives us an indication of how the dressing code for women at this age, and also that ancient Greece had a huge impact on most of the Roman
Ancient Greece was a civilization from the archaic period of the 8th to 6th centuries and also belongs to a period of Greek history and until the end of antiquity. Ancient Greece is best known for the great Greek tradition such as Democracy, Science, Theoretical Mathematics, Philosophy, History, Art (naturalistic), and Drama (Notes). Greek worship gods and made sacrifices to them. Ancient Rome falls under the italic civilization beginning on early 8th century B.C. Romulus and Remus found the city of Rome in 753 B.C. The literary and scientific intellectual traditions of ancient Greece, Rome survived the fall of Roman Empire have great impact on western civilization through the middle ages because the Hellenistic culture, Democracy, Greek philosophy and Arts and Architecture are carried and merged along through middle ages and are still in used in today’s world.
The civilization of Rome is one that is remembered today as “the most powerful world state in ancient history” (Fiero 139). From their superior culture to an army of 300,000 men who behaved as if “they had been born with weapons in their hands”, the Roman culture was unparalleled (Fiero 139). The location of Rome on the Italian peninsula put them in a prime location to encounter rich cultures such as the Greeks. Roman culture would not have been the same if it had not been for the Greeks, because they incorporated multiple aspects of the culture into their everyday life. The Romans were heavily influenced by Greek philosophy, theology, literature, art, and architecture.

Ancient Greece has played a vital role influencing today’s modern society, and as we learn more about women in this time period, connections continue to be drawn on today’s societal norms. Politics, art, philosophy, drama, and architecture are all influenced heavily by Ancient Greek civilizations. Greece at the time was not a united nation, but rather a collection of sovereign communities referred to as “City-States”; each City-State had different customs, beliefs but shared the same religion, language, and ritual practices. Due to the terrain, location, and whether it was difficult for communication and further development of communities. Therefore we see a vast spectrum
The timeline above gives detail about certain events that occurred in Greece during this time period. It starts out talking about the dark age. The Dark Age was a time that did not have any kings or tax collectors. The streets were trashed and buildings were destroyed. After the rebuilding was the Classical Period that had many cultural advances. The cultural advances included Philosophy, Literature, and Art. This period was followed by the Hellenistic Period. The Hellenistic Period was when Alexander the Great came to rule. He built an empire all the way from India to Greece. This period ended when Roman troops invaded and conquered many territories.

Many people often debate over the legitimacy over capital punishment, whether or not a person can receive the death penalty as a punishment if he or she commits an act of murder. Some argue that the death penalty is a justly act against dangerous criminals while others argue that the penalty is immoral, playing the role of God, and does not even lower the crime rate one bit. In fact, the death penalty is a severe punishment with some negative outcomes at times, but overall, it was placed in this world to serve the sole purpose of protecting our people from violent and dangerous deviants. When used properly, just for cases in which the murder or crime was so heinous, justice is being served for the
Greeks and Romans play a huge part in the lives of every person that walk the face of the Earth. In many ways they influence multiple cultures even to this day and some would say they started the “civilized” way to be. Almost to the very blood they were the exact same people in more than one way. They were also different in ways but not anything drastic. There were many resemblances between the citizen roles, attributes, symbols and characters of the Greek and Roman. This paper provides details of the differences, similarities and a comparison between Greek and Roman gods, mythology, beliefs and practices. In this paper I will explain the likenesses and the differences of these civilizations and how in comparison and contrast they formed a great power.

The Roman Empire is Europe’s great creation myth. The great Mediterranean empire has left a great legacy of culture, language, conquest, art, and science in Europe and beyond. But everything decays with time, especially memory. Our archeological and historical understanding of the Roman Empire is limited. These gaps in knowledge, combined with popular misconceptions relating to culture, politics, race, technology, politics, and religion from the period, mean that any “period” piece is bound to be historically inaccurate.
