Cloud computing is a part of internet growth, it’s the next generation of internet. Cloud computing deliver everything –computing resource, infrastructure, application, and business process to personal collaboration – and can be access as service wherever and whenever through various devices. The cloud itself is a set of hardware, networks, storages, services, and interface that enable to delivery of computing as services based on user demand. (Hurwitz, J, 2009) From the various definition of cloud computing, NIST define cloud computing most fit, and it is accessible freely. The following is excerpted from NIST SP 800-145: Cloud computing is a model for enabling ubiquitous, convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of…show more content…
Provider provide different types of cloud computing services, and most of them categorize under one or more of three categories: (Badger, L & Grance, T 2012) 1. Software as a Service (SaaS). Software as a Service provide complete software over the web according to user demand. The most popular and well-known example of SaaS is e-mail service in a web browser. SaaS allow Costumer to choose some software as a service which is fit to costumer demand. Costumer also can order specific tailored software as a service. SaaS also over to costumers an efficient use of software licences. It has meaning that costumer can subscribe for a SaaS instead to buy software licenses for each employee. Benefits: • Very Modest Software Tool Footprint • Efficient Use of Software Licenses • Centralized Management and Data • Platform Responsibilities Managed by Providers • Savings in Up-front Costs Issues and Concerns: • Browser-based Risks and Risk Remediation • Network Dependence • Lack of Portability between Saas Clouds • Isolation vs. Efficiency (Security vs. Cost Tradeoffs) 2. Platform as a Service (PaaS). Benefits: • Facilitated Scalable Application Development and Deployment Issues and Concerns: • Lack of Portability between PaaS Clouds • Event-based Processor Scheduling • Security Engineering of PaaS Applications 3. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). Infrastructure as a Service allow costumer to rent
