Cloud Storage Performance Analysis Introduction Cloud storage is a new concept based on cloud computing, it is a model of data storage where the digital data is stored in logical pools, the physical storage spans multiple servers (and often locations), and the physical environment is typically owned and managed by a hosting company. These cloud storage providers are responsible for keeping the data available and accessible, and the physical environment protected and running. People and organizations buy or lease storage capacity from the providers to store user, organization, or application data. Company only need to pay the space they want, and the rest of the data maintaining processes will be handled by the providers. Like the email business, there are many free cloud storage providers that we can choose, different providers serve different space of the cloud, and their service may not be the same. Cloud storage architecture In cloud storage there is a front end, that we can use it to access web service front end, file-based front end and many other traditional front end, behind the front end there is a layer of middleware that implements some data operations on traditional algorithms, the last is the back end which is the physical storage like physical disks to store data. In the data transfer session there are encryption and decryption to protect the data. Analysis on public cloud storages There are many cloud providers in the market, here I pick 5 providers that I think most people will use as their cloud storage service providers. 1. Dropbox with 2.25GB 2. Google Drive with 15GB 3. Microsoft OneDrive with 15GB 4. Amazon Cloud Drive with 5GB 5. Box with 10GB These providers are well known to the market, they provide personal and business storage service. As a customer, I prefer free service the most, which are also provided by these 5 providers with different disk space. How to test?
