The Coastal Bend College Endowed Scholarship Application will be the second scholarship I have applied for because I didn't think about college until my second semester of my senior year when a coach said “you’d be perfect for this job”. After I heard that statement I started looking into studying kinesiology and asking questions about their experiences. Ever since then I have been wanting to become what I think of them, which is a hero. I want to help kids achieve their goals and become someone important. I understand coaches do not get paid a fair amount, but I am willing to accept this fact. To me it is about graduating college and doing something I know I will enjoy for the rest of my life. This scholarship would be a huge benefit that
Now that I’ve covered why I financially need this scholarship, let me explain why I have earned it. This past year has been a whirlwind. I ended my junior year with 34 credit hours, 20 of which were earned second
Thank you for the opportunity to apply for this unique scholarship. This award shows me that you recognize your alumni as being vital to the campus. I’ve had a long family history with your school. My great grandmother Florence Wilson attended the former Platteville State Teacher College and taught a year before marrying my great grandfather. My grandfather, Kenneth Wilson, attended the University of Wisconsin Platteville and studied agriculture. His education was beneficial in his career in farming. He needed to leave school after two years in order to work full time on the farm and to raise seven children. Three of his children attended UW-Platteville. My uncle Kurt Wilson started teaching physical education in Lodi after receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Education. He is still enjoying his job there. My mother, Lynette Wilson (Potter) received a Bachelors of Science degree in Art and a Masters of Science in Counselor Education. She has had many creative positions and has worked with a variety of people over the years. Her artwork has been published in national magazines as well as local papers. She was dedicated to her job working with the developmentally
I am honored and appreciated to have been selected to receive the Jim & Phyl Woodhouse Endowed Scholarship, in the amount of $1000.
As a recipient of the Betsy Caughlin Donnelly Endowed Scholarship, I personally wanted to say thank you so much for your contribution to the University of Nevada, Reno and for the scholarship that you have provided for me.
I believe there is a reason for every opportunity given to a person. I applied for the Alumni Chapter Scholarship for many reasons. The primary reason is because I believe in school pride. A pride that will carry on for the rest of one’s life. I believe the alumni of Truman State University are the basis of such a notable school. I choose Truman because helping people is my passion. The staff and students epitomized who I aspire to be--loving and caring. I hope to pursue my yearning passion through counseling. Counseling allows direct contact with people in need of help. Currently, I volunteer for many different activities in order to help those people. My personal goal has gratefully been achieved. My goal in life was to be happy, and then
Athletics has helped shape who I am as a student and as a person. To be selected for the Carl Montavon Memorial Scholarship would be a great honor that I would feel privileged to receive. Carl Montavon was a huge supporter of athletics among high school students, and I am as well for multiple reasons. Not only have the sports that I have participated in helped me physically and socially, but educationally as well. Participating in multiple sports helped motivate me to keep up my GPA for future college recruiting, and fueled my competitive drive into striving and succeeding to become valedictorian of my high school’s graduating class. Athletics taught me responsibility and respect. Not only do I value others opinions, but I make sure
This scholarship is very important to me in many ways. This scholarship will help me physically and emotionally if I receive money. For instance, it will make me stress less about how I am going to be able to pay for my tuition and fees and not have debt. Also, it will give me a way to purchase my books for the classes I will take.Since I will not receive financial aid I will have to apply for more scholarships. I plan to go to Northwest Shoals to be able to get my basics done and further my education and transfer to Wallace State to be able to become an Occupational Therapist it has always been a desire to work with many people and help someone out if they needed it. Some of my college goals is to be able to maintain a high GPA and do the
It is with great pleasure that I highly recommend Christopher Brown for the Robert D. Riley Endowed Scholarship. I have known Chris for this past semester at the University of Texas at Arlington as his professor in Computer Programming and Computer Science. Having noticed Chris’ attentiveness to the work involved in the classroom, his brilliance in working on projects, and his observant and receptive nature when working with others, I feel that Chris is a truly exceptional student and will be a leader in whatever he pursues in the years to come.
Throughout my high school athletic career, playing both football and running cross country, i’ve witnessed multiple teammates of mine receive scholarships to continue their athletic and academic careers at a university. However due to the disproportionate number of hours spent on the sport rather than academics without receiving compensation is causing many high school athletes to turn down athletic scholarships and instead begin to focus on their academic futures.
The “On-Track Scholarship” will help me with staying “on-track” in my future goals. My ultimate goal in life is to receive a college education and proceed into a field with a successful job. I want to major in Business Management and minor in Entrepreneurship. When I am older, I hope to take over the organization that my mother has built, she started running a youth football league because of my brother. But she also started a basketball league because of me, it is my dream to be able to expand the organization that helped me be successful in my basketball career.
I was always taught that I must work hard for everything I receive, I believe now is the time to show all I have worked for. At Gulf Coast I plan to obtain my Associate degree in Dental Hygiene. I am assiduous for this scholarship because during my years of high school I have worked hard not only in the classroom but at my job, sports, and clubs as well. Coming into high school as a Freshman I
I selected architecture as my career. It involves a lot of my passions such as math, building, algebra, and designing. Architecture can mean: A general term to describe buildings and other physical structures.
As a freshman volleyball player, my biggest dream was to get so good at my position that a college would offer me a scholarship to attend college and play for them. Everyone is aware that college is expensive, especially the students who don’t know how exactly they are going to pay for college. That was and is me. I had read about students being signed to different community colleges or universities and sometimes getting a full ride. I wanted so badly to be that student my junior or senior year. If I could play the game I loved and attend college for free or at a discounted price, I was going to be one happy individual.
My name is Destiny Nichelle Blanks and I reside in Pennington, Alabama. I was born in Meridian, Mississippi on January 12, 1995 in Rush Hospital. I am twenty years old, an African American, and I am single. Growing up church is all I knew, I was that little girl my peers used to say, “You be in church Monday through Sunday”, which didn’t offend me at all. I would like to say as far as my religion I am a Baptist and I believe in God. Currently I attend The Alabama State University majoring in Social Work. I do not have a job but I do have work-study here on campus where I do my hours at the Comptroller’s Office. All through life it has been God, family, and education and all these things have motivated me to keep going and it has gotten me
College scholarships, the attraction of every devoted sports player out there. Earning scholarships brings players together not only to step up their game, but to be enthusiastic about exceeding their academic goals. Colleges put down an amount of money to attract top athletes from high schools all over their state. Athletic meaning all sports, like golf, fencing, and water polo. Tons of schools and families support the aid colleges grant in their athletic scholarship programs, while others are against it, saying that it has too few people who are accepted and that it takes away money that everyone else has to pay for their classes. They don’t realize that players will be encouraged to do great academically, so that they may do great
