Chapter Two-Cobyn

Moving swiftly through the trees, Cobyn followed a mental map he had of the surrounding area. He and his family had traveled from the Marshlands before. It had been the place he had been born. The Unknown had driven them out though, leaving their city to burn. Cobyn's infant sister, Aleen. Aleen, had been lost that day, as had so many other Keddish people. The moon shone down from above, like a silver sun lighting his path. Creatures moved, fast and flitting through the trees as Cobyn walked, keeping a quick pace. He could hear the crunching of the leaves under his bare feet, and occasionally the moonlight would catch the hilt of the sword making it shine. Cobyn hurried. Based on these observations, Cobyn corrected his path. Walking around the lake, he noted it was too far away to see through the trees. However, he figured it was calm and still, undisturbed at this time of night. Night was often the best time of travel, and yet also the most dangerous. No people were out, and the Unknown were not either. Animals, as always, remained a problem, however they are easily avoided as long as your not tramping over their homes and habitats. Cobyn looked around, checking his surroundings for anything dangerous. He saw nothing. So he listened, still nothing. He proceeded onwards. The Isles lake was only about a mile from Terf, the place where Haamond met his premature end and former Keddish town. Speeding up Cobyn get closer to the edge of the trees, and as he passed he looked out on the large open field. The grass looked slick and wet from the mist that seemed to always hang over the field. Cobyn ventured out into the grass, looking down. The moonlight illuminated the grass, allowing him to see black, and red blood from the warriors who had fought, and the ones who had died. Knives, swords, chips of armor and wood lay out in the field, a testament to the struggle. Cobyn was even shocked by the sight of a few Unknown bodies. They were terrifying creatures, tall and black with no tangible form, seeming to float about like dust their lifeless bodies stretched out on the grass. It was almost as if one could put their hand through them, yet they were solid. With empty faces and no emotion they wreaked fear and havoc on the land. Just looking at the lifeless forms of them made Cobyn feel panic rising in his mind. Then he spotted something familiar, something he had seen countless times before. Haamond's helmet lay, empty in the field. Rushing towards it, Cobyn dropped to his knees. He stared at his own
