The first main attribution that can be applied to gaga with Cognitive social theory proposes that people learn by observing others behaviour with or without reinforcement (burton). The more Gaga modelled the behaviour the more she would receive positive reinforcement. This behaviour would contribute to her continuously trying to top the last stunt or behaviour preformed on stage or in public. Through the continued reinforcement Gaga believed that modelling extreme behaviour would contribute to her popularity growing and helping her become the celebrity she is today. When begging to understand Gaga’s rationale for behaviour by applying the cognitive social model of behaviour this allows insight and explanation to why she conducts herself in such

I have been working in the Applied Behavior Analysis field since 2007. I have received my certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in 2015. Prior to that, I held my BCaBA certification since September 2013. I obtained my Master 's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis in 2015. I specialize in program development and implementation for in-home ABA services with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder from ages 18 months to 12 years of age. In addition, I specialize in parent training and staff training in Applied Behavior Analysis principles.
In today’s society, people are very concerned about the behaviors of individuals and why the do certain things in a certain way. Communities are doing research and creating journals to help us out with this difficult subject. One journal is The Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis (JABA). This journal is published by the Society for the Experimental Analysis of Behavior and aims to share research about the experimental analysis of behavior and how it can be applied to problems of social importance. Another scholarly journal focused on behavior studies is The Behaviour Research and Therapy journal. This journal focuses on understanding behavior and emotional disorders and ways to prevent and treat them. The methods used to understand these disorders include cognitive, behavioral, and psychophysiological models, examples, and methods. Both journals are great sources for gathering information and research about human behaviors and their relation to social skills.
Facilitated Communication (FC) is a technique used by some caregivers in an attempt to help those with severe communication disabilities. Rosemary Crossley, the originator of FC, came up with this technique in the late 1970’s and it was originally used for individuals with cerebral palsy. A little over a decade later, FC made its way to the U.S. by way of Douglas Biklen and he extended it to autism. Biklen argued that we had it all wrong and that autism is primarily a motor, not mental, disorder. For that reason, many used FC, or supported typing as it is called today, as a means to communicate with autistic individuals who have severe communication disabilities. FC requires two people, the individual with autism and the facilitator.
Jaime: How does Someone Become an Applied Behavior Analyst? Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is a growing field that enables therapists and educators to help people with different behavior disorders and disabilities. Anyone who wants to become an Applied Behavior Analyst will need to earn a master’s degree and complete a supervised practicum. Before this even begins, the student will need to understand Applied Behavior Analysis and earn a bachelor’s degree in the right field. Understand Applied Behavioral Analysis Applied Behavioral Analysis refers to psychological principles and therapeutic tools that are used to increase behaviors, such as reinforcing on-task behaviors, and to teach new skills, which includes social, life and communication skills.
Thank you for your considering my application to the Applied Behavior analysis program. For all of my life I have known that I was going to help people. It could be said that it is in my DNA. I just never suspected what the capacity would be. On December 15thI graduated from Albright college, I began working at Melmark on December 16th. My first thought, on that first day was “Oh no, I can’t do this, I need to quit” That was over two years ago, and I have gone to work every day, with a smile on my face. While working at my first position, out of college, I discovered my passion. My passion, I find, is working with children and adults with autism and with people who suffer from addiction. Watching the smiles on their faces, the determination when they work to complete a goal, and just the progress makes every hardship worth it, I love it. Each day, in my position as an ABA, I run behavior support plans, IEPs, teaching plans and other protocols, and each day I truly wish that I could have contributed to these plans, protocols, and IEPs. I ponder the recommendations that I could come up with, I wonder that if I had been able to participate in these conversations to create these plans could I have brought something else to the table, a different viewpoint. Affecting the way that the plans are written and in turn ran, I feel that I could make a big difference in the lives of the children and their families also. Every two weeks each child’s team meets to discuss his or her
4) Gaga’s launch as an artist up to 2009 was a success. Her talent and unique personality opened doors for her. Since it was hard to get new artist music on radio, Gaga began touring in small venues so as to gain popularity. She gained a huge fan base as well through optimizing social media cites and Gaga’s team organized some interviews with about 50 popular music bloggers. As a result the interviews reached
Conceptually consistent programs within behavior analysis are those programs that use the principles of operant learning theory. Sensory integration and mindfulness therapies are not conceptually consistent with the principles of behavior analysis.
“The truth is every bit of me is devoted to love and art. I aspire to be a teacher to my young fans, who I feel just like I felt when I was younger. I want to free them of their fears and make them feel as if they can create their own place in the world”-Lady Gaga (Marsico 93). This quote means she cares and wants her fans to feel as if they free. There are multiple features of Lady Gaga that would be shocking to many. By researching Lady Gaga her background, her quotes, and influences really help with how today’s people see her.
4. Why it is important to you to study this discipline in a school that emphasizes cultural awareness, competence, and understanding of diversity (see our Commitment to Diversity Statement).
Dionne; article, Life as Performances: Dramatism and the Music of Lady Gaga presents that Lady Gaga's song Applause is her pursuit to identify with her fans by guilt-redemption. The author presents guilt as ever-present anxiety, brought about by social standards that motivate communications to behave in certain ways (Dionne, 2015, p. 26). He introduces that “Burke asserted that communications create drama by disrupting, resistor altogether rejecting hierarchies” (Dionne, 2015, p. 26). The reason for presenting these two terms in the paper is because the song “Applause” demonstrates the relationship between communications and hierarchies (Dionne, 2015, p. 26). The song illustrates that Gaga is on top of the hierarchy while her fans are below
Modeling is undoubtedly a pervasive tendency that governs a variety of human behaviors. Albert Bandura (2006) states that modeling is an effective tool to elicit society-wide change across cultural boundaries. He goes on to say that observational learning is an evolutionary adaptation that allows development of the self and overall functioning. By observing others, people can learn to behave like the models that they observe (Spiegler, 2010). This is simply referred to as imitation. Modeling requires two fundamental elements to be effective. First, an observer must be able to see what the model did, and then the observer must be able to see what happened to the model as a result of the behavior. By the observer observing the cause-and-effect
It has been seven years now since I became a fan of one of the most influential artists of our generation. Lady Gaga is truly a master at what she does, and her music has inspired millions of fans to love and accept who they are. Even though she is known for her outrageous costumes and her unique theatrical performances, she is truly one of the most talented artists out there. Some people may see her as an attention seeker but beneath all of the crazy wigs and makeup, she is just a human who loves making music and is dedicated to her fans. Lady Gaga has millions of fans around the world because she is extremely talented, an amazing role model, and one of the most relatable, down to earth artists of our generation. Being a fan of Gaga has encouraged me to never
[Her] braids in a plastic bag” (831). The way she looked made her feel broken inside; she did not feel the way she had before with regard to herself. Her style changed from normal everyday wear to involuntarily showing just how bad her cancer had mentally and physically crippled her. The debilitating feelings she reflected when looking in a mirror overwhelmed her, until one day she decided she had enough: “[She] didn't always feel tough, but [she liked] experimenting with a tough uniform” (833). Her heart had shifted from being timid to coming out and demanding to not let the world see her broken pieces anymore. Even if she pretended some days to feel put together again, her heart eventually changed , at least she wasn’t trying to be someone who she ashamed of and this is reflected in her style. Lady Gaga, on the other hand, never tried to hide who she was, but most do not stop to think about why she shows her style the way she does: “For Gaga, activistism and careerism are one in the same” (766). Her heart bleeds through all her work, from her funky hats down to her space shoes. She believes in being who she is and not hiding it from the
From pop star sensation to fashion icon, Lady Gaga has influenced pop culture in many ways. After her 2008 hit single “Just Dance” the singer quickly gained fame for her unique techno pop music. From there on she has acquired a huge following and quickly took over the world of pop music. The singer then used the newly popular twitter website to tweet to her fans. She encouraged them to love themselves, spread positivity to one another, and most importantly funded her Born This Way Foundation in hopes of helping bullied victims. Not only did she use her music and social media account to influence her fans, she also made a broad fashion statement to motivate her fans to be weird, different, and unique. Many people still remember her famous meat dress she walked the red carpet in, while others reminisce on all the outrageous outfits she’s worn over the years. Over the last nine years, this pop star diva continues to top the charts with her music, spreading kindness, and walking the streets wearing memorable outfits.
