During the Cold War the soviets accomplished many great things. According to Karl Marx societies experienced certain stages ; capitalism, socialism, and finally communism. Capitalism was about private ownership and greed. Both socialism and communism were about equally distribution of wealth and ownership. There wouldn't be any labels such as Rich and/or poor. In 69 years as a country the Soviet Union accomplished many great and cruel things, military strength, the great Terror and cultural achievements. These should all be included in their textbooks to remember this time in history.
The great Terror was one of the most cruel tortures. It was fearful abuse of human dignity and interrogations. Stalin's people would do anything that they thought was necessary such as cutting you to pieces, whipping you. etc. ( document C ) . His people did anything Stalin told them to do, and they did it without question. They only thing people had left were their mercy and a bit of their dignity. According to document C during the years 1937 and 1938 the NKVD said that there were 1,548,366 victims from the great terror. 681,692 people were shot and about 1,000 executions a day.

Ballet grew rapidly into a continental network of schools, companies and, performing groups ( document H ). There were two leading soviet dance theaters which were Kirov and Bolshol. they would recruit the children by hosting talent shows around the country. They have many ppl different ways to get into dancing. They would have dance classes throughout the country and even have dance groups perform. The soviets also have participated w the summer Olympics. Of the eighth summer Olympic between 1952 and 1988 in which both Soviet Union and the U.S. Participated the soviets managed to win six times more medals than the U.S. was able to. With cultural achievements the people are able to express their feelings through
Immediately after World War II, the world was thrown into a massive ideological conflict between the United States and the Soviet Union, which culminated into the Cold War. The Cold War ignited overwhelming, panic-inducing fears across the United States, and Dwight D. Eisenhower, elected in 1952 and remained president until 1960, was faced with the challenge of quelling the fears of the American people. Americans during the Cold War, particularly during the presidency of Eisenhower, had constant fears of Soviet expansion, the pertinent anticommunist crusade at home, the spread of communism, and the neverending uneasiness of total nuclear annihilation, all fears which the Eisenhower administration would inadequately allay.
As the biggest most tragic war known as WWII came to an end, many nations were relieved and happy. However, the happiness of these nations did not last long because a new conflict started emerging the cold war. It was tension between the United States and the Soviet Union. They both had different perspectives on the type of government. The United States believed in a democratic government while the Soviet Union believed in a communist government. This affected many nations around the world. Two nations that had a huge impact on the cold war were Europe and Asia.
Throughout the Cold War, America grew into a state of frenzy, the US was in fear of communism taking hold across Europe and the USSR wanted to create a line of allies between themselves and Germany, Russia had just been attacked twice by m by Germany in 50 years and did not want it to happen again. With Russia trying to create more communist allies for protection and America's fear of the spread of communism adding in miscommunication and mistrust the two countries clash and a metaphorical iron curtain fell down between the democratic West and communist east. This affected US domestic policy and society in many ways including fear of the spread of communism, preparing for war activities, and competition with the Soviets. A great way to show how fear of the spread of communism or the red scare affected
The American and Soviet Union space programs were in a race to space during the cold war. This space race reflected many political, social, and economic aspects of the cold war. The fact that both countries were in the middle of a cold war didn’t help.
The Cold War was fought on two sides, the United States Capitalist and the Soviet Union Communist. The Soviets lived through Communism and they believed that
It is the 20th century, the USA and USSR are at the brink of nuclear war. Nobody knows what happens next…
The Cold War was fought between the United States and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics soon after World War II and the nuclear bombings by the U.S. and lasted from 1945 to 1990, and was sparked due to both sides having conflicting views of capitalism and communism. The U.S. supported capitalism and the free market system, while the USSR instead supported and utilized communism, which should allow everyone to obtain the same things. The Truman Doctrine, created by president Harry Truman, was created during the Cold War in 1947 which essentially indicated that the U.S. would prevent the spread of communism, or to contain it. This is a large factor to determine who began the war, however how the Cold War actually started is a partial
Throughout the middle of the twenty-first century, a series of tension and disagreement erupted between the United States of America and the Soviet Union of Russia. Because it was not a violent time of any major skirmishes or death, it was given the name The Cold War. This period lasted for roughly fifty years, from the end of World War II until the end of the century. Though there is much debate regarding when the Cold War officially began, there is strong evidence for all the events that contributed to the build up towards the war
1)During the Cold War, Europe was divided and faced three consequences (results). One consequence that occurred in Europe was that the US helped create NATO which composed the western allies. The second consequence is that the Soviet Union signed the Warsaw Pact with allies from Eastern Europe. Finally, the third consequence is that a line was formed between the west and north. This line was called the Iron Curtain.
After World War 2 ended, the US and the Soviet Union, once allies, developed tense relations with each other. When it was decided at the Yalta Conference that Soviet Union could have Poland, the US became skeptical because the Soviet Union was a communistic country. Having them as neighbors was definitely a problem because of the Soviet’s goal of expanding communism. If both the US and the Soviet Union were to battle, the US would be facing an enemy surrounding them (the division of Berlin into four was set inside the Soviet Union) and they would most likely not win.
Taking place right after World War II (WWII), the Cold War was a “bloodless” war that was based off of both the United States and Soviet Union’s political views, taking place between the years 1947 to 1991. Miniscule physical battles took place under each’s command, but neither side had ever fought one another directly. The conflict remained nonviolent for the most part, affecting each nation and their allies in a plethora of ways possible. Events had occurred due to the actions and beliefs of others, creating a domino effect to fall within the States. As a result of this, the Cold War served as a turning point in the United State’s history, affecting all areas economically, socially, and politically.
The Cold War took place during 1947-1991 and was a war fought with words. The war was fought mainly between the United States and the Soviet Union, using Cuba as a pawn in their war plans. During the Cold War the alliance between the United States and the Soviet Union was broken. The Cold War was fought from the mainland of the two powers. There were instances where the United States had missiles located in countries around the Soviet Union and the Soviet Union having their missiles in Cuba, but there was no real acts of war. The Cold War began with the break of the alliance between the Soviet Union and the United States and the methods used were new alliances and nuclear powers leading to the Cuban Missile Crisis.
When World War II ended, nations rejoiced the end of a long bloody war. However, tension between two previous allied emerged. Thus conflict, referred to as the Cold War, was due to the disagreement over what type of government should be reinstalled in Germany. While the Soviet Union supported communism, a system in which wealth is divided equally among individuals and major productive resources are owned by the public or state, the United States of America supported democracy, a government that is ran by the people. This conflict not only affected Germany, but also many other, region of the world.
Prior to 1941, the majority of Americans regarded the conflict in Europe to be something that the United States was to stay out of. Because the war was on the other side of the Atlantic, the conflict was seen as irrelevant to the American lifestyle. Aside from the fact that the war was across the world, the American people were only just getting out of the greatest economic depression the United States had ever seen; it seemed absurd to become involved in yet another war when the economy was so fragile. As seen in Fortune Magazine’s 1939 survey on what the U.S. should do for the war (Document 1), twenty-nine percent of people said to sell supplies to both sides (cash-and-carry) while another twenty-five percent of people said not to give aid
The treaty of versailles was unfair towards Germany and caused disagreement, land lose, and a worldwide economic collapse, the treaty was just another spark to another war.
