Collaboration When using crowdsourcing platforms to handle information security needs, collaboration between users is a key factor in determining overall success. Collaboration involves sharing information among enterprises, governmental institutions, and cybersecurity professionals to improve the defense against sophisticated cyberattacks (Juzenaite & Dimov, 2015). The biggest advantage with sharing security information so freely is to improve information security awareness to the benefit of all participants. The notion that everyone can contribute and collaborate may seem odd because anyone, even those with mal intent, may have access to the data. However, although that is a concern, such open sharing allows for a larger degree of transparency (Basluto, 2015). With transparency, a larger amount of trust can be given to the information collected during the crowdsourcing. This allows a higher degree of agility, or reacting to threats, and saving time for information security companies (Hui, 2015). Thanks to the sharing and collaboration, entities who participate not only improves the information security awareness and strengthen defense mechanisms, but also reduce the costs of dealing in cybersecurity (Juzenaite & Dimov, 2015). This sharing of knowledge of data allows a collective defense from common attacks that benefits all participants. Disadvantages of Crowdsourcing Information Security Like with any system with benefits, there are major disadvantages in
