Working Individually and Collaboratively Working collaboratively was necessary for the experiment. Working with another member effective because the experiment was time consuming and required patience. Working with another member was successful and efficient as the method was shared equally, which allowed each member to do their own task for example, one member started to cut the liver cubes while the other member prepared the 5 mL hydrogen peroxide solution. Another example in the experiment was when timing the 20 seconds for the reaction to occur, it would have have been difficult if this was done individually as the test tubes had to be held during the reaction. Working collaboratively allowed one member to time and one member to hold and
Prior to conducting the experiment, the members of the group planned how the practical would be conducted, what variables they were going to measure, and delegated roles evenly between the members. For example, one member was assigned the roles of diluting the Catalase concentration, whilst the other member was responsible for measuring out 50ml of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Communication was also vital to ensure that the students knew exactly how the experiment would be conducted. Furthermore, the ideas of each member in the group were valued and taken into consideration with regards to how the investigation should be conducted. As the practical was conducted in a tight space, the students were required to communicate effectively with others to prevent any collision. In addition, cooperation was compulsory, as students were required to share the materials and equipment. All these skills were vital in order for the experiment to be conducted efficiently and coherently within the time
one man, Ezra, who is blind, Ben is very unkind and insulting to over the phone as a meat salesman. His unkindness was due to an outburst shortly after the deaths of all those people. He comes to find that Ezra is a humble, genuine, lonely, good-hearted man and gives him his eyes to see. Ben asks another woman, Holly (who is a social worker), if there is a case where the victim desperately needs help, but is too proud to accept a hand out. She directs Ben to a Hispanic mother of two who is in an abusive relationship, but is too afraid to leave.
Collaboration involves negotiation and consensus seeking (Blais & Hayes, 2016). As the assistant director of nursing, I am a member of the Quality Improvement committee. Our purpose is to meet on a monthly basis to review feedbacks from patients regarding their home health aides. We need to know if the patient needs are being met, if they are being treated with respect and what improvements can be made to keep quality aides in order to ensure quality care of patients. Providing good care for home health patients with chronic conditions needs to be organized and coordinated (Barr & Ross, 2007).
Our goal is to work collectively and cohesively by converging our mindsets and strengths together. We feel that it is essential for us to work well together and create meaningful relationships in order to be successful in both the Business Management and Managing Work and Teams courses. The vision of our team is to establish strong teamwork skills that will supplement our future success throughout our four years at Smith. As a team we envision achieving these goals by creating an open environment where team members feel comfortable to communicate their opinions and ask questions. We will implement this by utilizing a collaborative mindset where we will be able to learn from each other and share our learnings with our future teams. As a team
The two words most often used, ”cooperative and collaboration,” can easily be both applicable to the United States of America and other countries today, and are still often used to describe contract negotiations for the United States of America as well as other countries. (Barnardin & Russell, 2013).
5. Explain how differences in working practices and policies affect collaborative working (A.C.2.3) Organisational practices and policies:

Group work has been a cornerstone of the social work profession and requires a variety of facilitator skills and awareness of group processes. The SSLDTM Group Program for People with Difficulties in Social Situations (Socialwork1914, 2017) provides an excellent example of a psycho-educational group co-facilitated by two female social workers, Jane and Karen. After viewing the 6th session of this 8-week program, I began to understand how the concepts of group formation/development, interpersonal dynamics, and leadership styles contribute to successful group work outcomes.
The story is an allegory for the loss of innocence and the projection of Brown's fear. The character Faith is a symbol for Goodman Brown's Christian faith. He talks about her: "With Heaven above, and Faith below, I will yet stand firm against the devil." In other words, Faith is a substitute for Brown's religious conviction. When Faith is in trouble, Brown's faith is in trouble too.
Two of my goals that I have are to collaborate more with other student organizations and IUPUI. I think it is important to collaborate with other student organizations because it is a fantastic opportunity for SPA to build relationships with a wide and diverse audience. I want to collaborate with IUPUI by having monthly events and meetings at convenient locations.
I would collaborate with the unit manager to design the team. We will select diverse champions with different backgrounds, experiences, skills and qualifications. After forming the team, using the similar assessment tools, I will assess the members. This is to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses. I would provide the team with the clear idea about the project, purposes, activities included, goals and the timeline to achieve the goals. Depending on the strengths and weaknesses of the members, I will assign the job to the team. The purpose of the activities planned is to make sure the staff are in compliance with the existing policies and protocols of the unit. The team will do chart audits and tracking of the staff activities to ensure the
Teamwork can be complex and challenging given task and interpersonal issues, level of group motivation and expected performance standards. The concrete experience spoken about in this reflection piece is in reference to the effectiveness of myself as a group member and the group, working to write a report outlining the organisation and structure of Volkswagen. Dennison (2009) applies Kolb’s learning cycle (1981, 1984) which suggests that learning moves through a continuous cycle, between having an experience, and then reflecting on that action. This cycle has been developed from Lewin’s (1951) model for experiential learning. Reflection termed by Boud, Keogh and Walker (1985) ‘is a forum of response to the learner to experience’(p. 18). On reflection, the early set group dynamics was a defining factor in the experience, and how the team conducted themselves throughout the task. Meyerson, Wick and Kramer (1996) note that ‘such rapidly converging groups require methods for developing “swift trust”’ (p. 8), which can explain why initial group dynamics are so important. I took on multiple team roles, including group leader, which could be translated into the team not performing collectively on a high level, however, I could view this as a personal ineffectiveness of my leadership style.
Violence in the workplace can happen to anyone at anytime, anywhere that is possible. Everyone is not safe from workplace violence, which is why we need to identify and prevent this from happening. Violence can cause a significant amount of fatalities and injuries throughout the entire United Sates. Nearly 2 million Americans are affected by assaults and violent acts by people in the workplace. Workplace Violence could also damage someone’s trust and the sense of security while working with others in the workplace. The problem of workplace violence is that it is growing and the employers and employees a very much concerned about it.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of working in teams? By reference to relevant theory show how can the disadvantages be reduced or avoided.
Working in a group can be very difficult at times. Different people with different views may not always agree which one another. Throughout the various task I played the communicator. I made sure everyone was on track on what we wanted to do. I also made sure people was okay and happy in the role they was playing in the group. My group worked together in collecting ideas from one another and making it into one.
