“A life with a goal is a life that is whole.” Fortunately, my thirst for knowledge did not come to an end when I was in high school. I was passionate about the sciences and math. Today I am an Applied Chemistry major and want to further into a doctor of pharmacy degree. I am certain that my degree will be my ticket to a better tomorrow. My true passion for pharmacy lies in helping others in a safe and effective way with the use of innovative pharmaceutical medicines. I have become inspired by my personal ambition of becoming a pharmacist as I inspire to contribute to others well-being.
College life became a nightmare for me when I secured a part-time job along with my classes. There were some few breaches, but that never stopped me from advancing into the future. I never gave up, but rather challenged myself to overcome all those barriers. I chose my classes in a way that my job won’t interfere with them. “Of

“I really enjoyed every moment and interactions with customers and coworkers from filling prescriptions and working under direct supervision of pharmacists to gaining knowledge about drug usages. It was a unique experience for me as well. These past experiences have really left a mark in my life. I found a purpose and a way of changing myself. I knew this was my way of truly emerging into the best person I could be. I firmly believe you must have a dream and see yourself doing something that awakens passion within. Surely then it is bound to materialize. I read that, Nelson Mandela says “It doesn’t serve any purpose to keep your light under a cup.” It is important to use the gifts that you are given. My dream to make a meaningful contribution to others life manifested itself every moment shared and service I rendered at the pharmacy. Best of all, I was able to learn so much from others including, pharmacists and
Ever since as I remember my childhood I have always dreamed to work in the medical field and be the part of the solution when it was about helping people. As I was growing up I read a lot of medical literature and magazines that fascinated me more and I strongly decided to take medical field track. During the primary school and a high school period I have always volunteered and offered my help to the nursing staff and even some of my pears were more comfortable to speak about some health issues with me. However I have always suggested seeking a professional opinion. Consequently in my mind was always that thought that I would like to know more about and around medicine.
I am currently a Senior Certified Compounding Pharmacy Technician in the only compounding Walgreens in Gainesville, FL. In the past two years as a technician, I have learned what being a retail pharmacist “really” entails. I can embellish it by saying that being a retail pharmacist is all about customer interactions and helping the patient through insightful review of the medications that they are taking, but that is only a small sliver of what is required on a daily basis. There are endless phone calls, insurance issues, consults, complaining customers, and immunizations that all need to be taken care at the same time on top of reviewing prescriptions. A lot of pharmacists get extremely stressed out and they have reason to.
My strongest impetus for the study of this major is pegged on the personal urge to improve the lives and health of those around me. I would only be able to serve the health of others when I am fully acquainted with the knowledge of pharmacy, which to me is one of the noblest professions. I am deeply concerned about the welfare of others. My experiences, especially as I visit hospitals form a significant part in influencing my choice to study pharmacy. At one point, I felt very bad when a pharmacist in a hospital I had visited was very indolent in serving a patient. All human beings would feel adored and valued when they are given appropriate attention in regard to their health. The health profession has a mission geared towards safeguarding people's health and that mission is perfectly in sync with my desires. I want to be exceptional, to do my best in caring for people, and attend to their interest to the best of my knowledge. I admire nourishing hope to desolate patients and always give them a reason to
Over the past few weeks I have been researching my interests, values, and goals. Throughout this research a lot of things that were already evident to me, were proven for a fact. My interests included researching different aspects of science and data analysis. Analysis has always been a big part of my life because I analyze everything. My values have been proven to be centered toward helping people and being around people. These interests and values are almost equivalent with what my goals in life have been over the past years. For the past few years I have wanted to become some type of pharmacist or physician. In this paper, I have researched what being a pharmacist and physician
It was the patient taking a moment to recognize my hard work and conveying his appreciation for helping him make this, already difficult process, significantly easier to deal with; I still have the letter hung at my desk today. It wasn’t until that precise moment in time that I realized I truly made a difference in that patient’s life and, as a result, live by the quote “only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile”. I believe pharmacists do this every day, they live their life in the service of helping others. It is one of several reasons why I continue to love pharmacy and wish, now more than ever, to attend The University of Saint Joseph School of Pharmacy to obtain my Pharm.D degree. Caring for the well-being of our patients makes me feel like life is worthwhile and it inspires me every day to know I am making a difference in someone’s life and within our
Growing up, I watched my mother study rigorously to earn her degree. The curious adolescent that I was, I constantly flipped through her anatomy book and it was then, that fueled my fascination for the medical field. As I continued my education through High School I found that I excelled in the sciences and I especially enjoyed chemistry and biology. My passion for these subjects and innate curiosity intrigues me to learn more about the composition of drugs and their functions in the body. My immediate goal is to gain knowledge and expertise in the areas of study that I enjoy by implementing my natural diligence and curiosity.
Pharmacy is my first career choice. In a way, it embodies the three other careers that I have also considered pursuing. [transition] Artists dedicate their lives to learning and mastering their skills in order to create their vision. Teachers pass on valuable knowledge to their students and mold them into successful individuals. Politicians establish and modify policies for the people they are elected to serve. As a pharmacist, I hope to incorporate parts of these three into the career that I have chosen to pursue. I want to become proficient in my skills of pharmaceutical care, take an active role in improving the processes of pharmaceutical practice, and educate and lead my patients to a healthier life.
I care about how people are doing, and I want them to be happy and healthy. Pharmacist do this every single day. Every day, they help make someone life better, and that is really important to me also have the skill-set needed to become a pharmacist. Pharmacist need to be very meticulous in very detail, and I do that. I will be the first in my family to go to medical school, and I am very excited about that. I want to attend Kearney because when I toured the school, I loved the campus and class size. After I graduate from medical school, I want to live in a small town. My parent’s own businesses in rural towns through Nebraska, so I spent many hours in those towns. I grew to love the lose-knit aspect those towns have, and I hope to own my own pharmacy in one of those towns. I am very ambitious, so I know that nothing will stop me from reaching my
When I first graduated from high school, I could not decide what to study or did not know what I like to be doing for rest of life. As a international student, I spent whole four years of high school trying to understanding what's going on around me and strive to survive for the whole new environment, culture, most of all English. When I got into college, all I knew was I was interested in the medical fields, but I couldn't decide what kind of job I like to have until I start shadowing and volunteering around hospitals and local communities. When I first start volunteering at the hospital, I was so fascinating about how many professionals working there and so many jobs available in healthcare field. Most of all, I felt great to be helping people and took care of them and be there for them when they
All my life I knew that any career path taken in college travelled by me would be one that led to medicine. There were moments in my life were the option to be a veterinarian and a nurse were in the pot of possible carers, but ultimately I chose doctor and more specifically a surgeon. My life after making this decision has been centered around trying to do anything possible to secure my dream to become a doctor. That includes centering any classes I take in school be focused on mostly science, that also includes working at a hospital, and making sure I make the necessary connections I need to get me further in lie. One of my other interest has always been the brain and how the brain works. The psychology behind the brain and also what parts of the brain make people do and make certain actions. Most of my interests revolve around aspects that have to do with the medical field.
The year 2002 was a year full of new beginnings for my family and I. I was ten years old, my youngest brother was born in February, and we moved away from Tennessee, and our family there, to Texas in October. Little did I know, the birth of my brother nor the move were going to be as significant as the next event that occurred.
Growing up, I encountered many health complications. I got transferred to many kinds of doctors to treat my many illnesses. The frustration of transferring to multiple offices and repeating the process of entering all the patient information and relaying my health problems to the doctors was inevitable. That sparked my interest to work in the healthcare field to become a doctor. However, when I reached college, I learned about careers working behind the scenes, improving the process of care.
Pharmacy is an ever-changing profession. With the help of technology and scientific advancements, much of the focus is now on preventative medicine. Throughout my life, many situations transpired that cemented my interest in pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy but it all started with the encouragement that I got during my childhood from my uncle, who is a pharmacist.
As I conducted my telephone Career interview with Pharmacist Della Agquiz, it provided me with a better picture on how to achieve this career goal. Being that I was already a pharmacy technician I didn’t think that continuing my education in pharmacy to be difficult. However, speaking with Mrs. Agquiz she informed that from the beginning in undergraduate studying chemistry through graduate school it was all challenging. She mentioned that having a personal life aside from school could be difficult to maintain due to the demanding study schedule of pharmacy. Taking into consideration all the time school requires I asked Mrs. Agquiz what her motivation was to pursue becoming a Pharmacist. Her response was very humbling, she chose the Pharmacy
The career that I am interested in pursuing is a Pharmacists. The number one reason I have decided to become a pharmacist is because I want to help and assist others. The satisfaction of me helping a patient get better quickly is the motivation that drives me. The second reason is the act of working with other health care professionals. Pharmacist have to communicate with other professionals as a team to avoid errors. Communication and connection is a major key in today’s society, in which I like with a passion. The big career dream began when my older cousin sister became the first in the family to graduate from college with a college degree. Her getting a well-paying job and taking care of my aunt and uncle led me to work hard and achieve pharmacy just like her. HCC will help me pursue my goals by helping me get high grades and achieve a high GPA. By me getting an Associates in Science I would then transfer to a big university like University of Houston to continue for higher education.
