I believe that I am a great candidate for this scholarship because throughout my life I have tried my hardest to do my best to obtain an education that will take me down the right path. My family has always taught me to depend on myself as much as I possibly can before asking for help. I believe this is what I was taught because my family wanted to show and teach me individual responsibility in order to be a productive citizen in this country. With that in mind I plan on funding my own education to the best of my ability. I have a good foundation starting in high school with a 3.89 unweighted GPA and a 4.21 weighted GPA as well as a 96.88 numeric average which placed me at 6th in my class of 76. I believe this shows that throughout my years in high school I have been …show more content…
I will be taking a difficult collegiate path as I will be majoring in Aerospace Engineering and possibly minoring in Nuclear Power Generation Systems and Political Science. I find that Aerospace Engineering fits me the best because I love space, love solving problems, and want to send mankind to Mars and into deep space. After college I would like to work for NASA or SpaceX to help further the push to explore space and planets more in depth and up close than we ever have before. I feel that I am a good candidate for this scholarship because of my drive and how determined I am to succeed in life. I have had trials and tribulations in life and I have succeeded and failed, but I always keep going because I am extremely determined to do my best in life and want nothing less. I like to challenge myself when it comes to school because I love to learn new things especially when it is something I want to learn about. I want nothing more than to have some kind of financial security going into college so I can focus more on school and less on

Not only am I good student overall, but I am a very busy-bodied student who likes to get involved and that's why I think I should be granted this scholarship. I receive good grades in school and participate in a few extracurricular activities such as HOSA, which I am the president of by the way, and the National Honor Society.I'm the president of my school's HOSA Club at my school and a Chic Time Member outside of school. I’ve been in HOSA since my freshman year, which reminds me that I’m also in the Medical Program at Andrew Jackson. Freshman year I was apart of Andrew Jackson’s band, playing the flute and a part of Andrew Jackson’s newspaper. In my Freshman year I was awarded Student of the Month for August/September under the Health Science School, A/B Honor Roll
I think I would be a good recipient for this scholarship. Due to my academic achievements and because my parents moved to the United States to give their children a better life and education. With this, my parents have instilled in me a dream to graduate college and become successful. My mother is always telling me how she wants me to do something great with my life, and she keeps on encouraging me to get through college even if money is tight. She reminds me and my siblings that we can never give up and that we have to push forward because she has sacrificed so much so we can be where we are now. I am extremely grateful to Rich Mountain Community College for providing concurrent college classes at Wickes/Cossatot River High School because it gave me a great opportunity to get ahead in college. I currently, have 53 hours, and I currently hold a 3.2 GPA this semester. This has not been easy, since I work part time, but it does show me I am capable of doing it. With personal commitment and determination, I know I have the power to excel in my all classes.
I believe that I am the best candidate for the Todd Hughes Memorial Scholarship because I have worked very hard during my last four years of high school and I am determined to be the very best person I can be, and accomplish my career goals. This Scholarship would be an incredible advantage to contribute in my college funds. My family’s economic challenges have affected my choices in my future plans. I will not be receiving any financial assistance from my parents, and I will be relying on my own work ethic and the scholarships I receive to assist in paying my tuition. Even though my family has these challenges I have always had dreams that of a higher education. This fall I will be attending Sam Houston State University. In doing so, I will
I believe that I am a worthy candidate for this scholarship due to my recognition of the financial impact of college. Growing up in a single parent home has been a financially and emotionally difficult feat for my mother and myself. When I was seven years old, my father passed away from a blood clot. During his life, he served in Vietnam, where he was granted a Purple Heart after shattering his kneecap on a landmine. He was on disability, and my mother was employed as a rehabilitation nurse, the only source of income in our family. After his death, my mother and I both began to go to therapy for our grief over losing my father. Focusing on my mental health helped me accept the meaning of death, and struck my motivation to honor my father and ensure that he would be proud of me. When I grew up, we always relied on getting clothes from thrift stores to save money and cutting any unnecessary expenditures. My mother always worked to have enough money for food and comfort. I received monetary Survivor Benefits after his death until my high school graduation this past May. As mentioned before, my mother has Multiple Sclerosis, which is an unfortunately expensive illness. Shortly after her diagnosis, the rehabilitation unit of her work closed and she was left on unemployment right before my sophomore year of high school. I was not old enough to drive or work, so finances were incredibly strict. On my 16th birthday, I attended an orientation to work as a lifeguard at our local YMCA. The next day, I also got my license to eliminate transportation issues. My employment alleviated financial and emotional stress on my mother, as I was able to contribute to the bills and my personal expenses. Throughout my life, my mother has also been very dependent on alcohol to relieve stress. There were numerous times where I
My effort to serve my community have been an immensely important area that I always try to expand on. From my hundred and seventy service hours, I have learned that giving back even in small amounts positively affects the lives of the people involved. My favorite memories of serving my local area is during the special NJROTC ceremonies when I am able to see the wonderful faces of veterans and military families when we present the colors or the veteran with a flag. Through school, I have been able to see the faces of incoming freshmen in my workroom mature into the present sophomores and the students today. In my church, I am apart of the Ushering team which assists with the service every few weeks. Through this, I am able to see the bright
I have a plan for my future, I carry an above average grade point average, and I am active in the community. Due to these reasons, I feel as if I am a prime applicant to obtain scholarship. Gaining scholarship will be a huge relief to my family. At my current status, I was unable to obtain financial aid to cover a certain part of my tuition leaving no choice but to pull long hours at work. Neverless, I am learning valuable time management skills. Even though it is tough to go to school and work both full time, I will do whatever I need to achieve my life
I will be the first generation in my family to attend college. a post-secondary education is something that my family and I cannot afford even with the salary that we are gaining now. I'm a person that believes in education since I was little in Haiti where I had to pay for k-12 education and that brought me to really appreciate education and to not take it for granted. I want to become a civil engineer and architect to build houses and bridges around the world, one day I want to open my own firm and to help build houses for the unfortunate. This scholarship would help me a lot because I don't want to be a student that takes loans and become in so much debt that I cannot pay back when I finish college. Through this scholarship, I would be
I should be selected for this scholarship, because I am a hard working, self-reliant, charismatic person. I am a current high school senior planning to attend Bowling Green State University this upcoming fall. I plan on majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders. I hope to then continue my education at BGSU to obtain my masters and become a Speech Language Pathologist. I am the oldest of four children.
I grew up in a world of little things. I appreciated the details in my daily life - the way my mothers voice changed as she read to me, the innumerable times my father checked his pockets before leaving for work. I liked the comfort of cramped library corners and well explored territory and small state schools. Growing up in Asheville, I considered myself wordly enough- I couldn’t imagine anything bigger than the mountains and stories ever-present around town.
College has been a significant goal in my life after both of my brothers didn’t either go or finish college. As the youngest granddaughter in my family, I am the final opportunity for a complete educational track and successful career after. A scholarship will not only assist me in focusing more on my education than the need for the money to pay for my tuition and books, it will push me further towards completing my degrees and my pursuit of one day having a successful career. This scholarship is what I need to achieve my goals and make my education worth it for the
I feel that I am a good candidate for this scholarship because I love to learn and try new things. I would get to have fun, do experiments, and work with math. Math and science are two areas that I would like to pursue further. I have exceeded my peers in math and this year I am taking Algebra One. I am engaged in graphic design and HTML programming.
It has been my dream and goal to pursue a career in medicine for as long as I can remember. Becoming a physician will allow me to combine my passion for science and medicine with my values of service and helping others. Pursuing a Masters of Biomedical Sciences will allow me to gain valuable knowledge and experience necessary to become a successful medical student and future-practicing physician. I graduated from the University of Kansas in May with a Bachelors of Arts in Spanish, while also on the pre-medical track. With my degree, I was able to take the general science requirements necessary in order to matriculate into medical school, with only a few elective science classes such as Biochemistry, Cellular Biology, Microbiology, and Mammalian Physiology.
I believe that you should choose me for a scholarship because I am devoted to finishing the Occupational Therapy Assistant program at Cincinnati State. This is something that I have pursued since I graduated high school last year. I have worked diligently in my classes and studied for my TEAS test in order to be competitive candidate for this program. This scholarship will help with my educational goals because I will not need to graduate with a degree in my hand, but the debt being an anchor. It will allow me to put all my focus on my job and helping people. I graduated high school with a 3.7 GPA and the top 11 of my graduating class. The majority of my coursework in school was honors, advanced placement, and dual credit classes. All though
