Going to UPenn, I would immerse myself in the large variety of academic courses and extracurricular opportunities they offer. UPenn not only has a multitude of courses that interest me, but a large range of extracurriculars that I am already in that I would like to further pursue. I am deeply interested in doing research in my undergraduate years. UPenn offers a large range of research programs that I believe will help me excel academically and in real life experience. I am specifically interested in research programs in the School of Arts and Sciences for Biochemistry. Throughout high school, I actively sought out any opportunities in science related programs such as clubs and advanced classes. I did science fairs quite seriously and team research projects, I am ardent to take it to a new level and do study that impacts the world and explores new nooks of the universe on my own skill. Learning the skills to analyze and compute smaller …show more content…
I am in my school’s Student Council, which I am currently acting as the President. It has a lot of work in it, as much as my school work, but I stay in it because I enjoy doing it. My goal as President this year is to run the Council as efficiently and effectively as possible and create robust communication from the Council to the administration to voice the student body’s wishes, and wish to continue in the future. Because of this, I would like to get involved with student representation on campus to develop my leadership and responsibility skills even more. Getting involved with the student population would further my understanding of unique individuals and how people define themselves, as UPenn is a melting pot of different cultures and diversity. This would help me develop the communicative skills needed in order to participate in team
My parents think of themselves as primarily self-sufficient. Because of this, we live on the peak of a hill in the middle of nowhere, far away from the hustle and bustle of our old home in the city. Although this is their ideal life, they realized that it may prevent me from expanding my own horizons. They have always encouraged me to follow my interests, even when it meant moving away from home at sixteen to go to college. Throughout my entire childhood, they have done everything in their power to ensure that I am prepared for the future. I believe that my parents have crafted me into a well-rounded individual by proving to me that any person can define their own version of success.
Since I started community college I’ve heard several dozen cases of people changing their major, changing their transfer college, or just changing their mind. I’m not likely to do any of that, I choose to use my time in high school deciding what I wanted to do and so far I am sticking to it without a doubt in my mind. I chose to go to community college, earn my Associate's in Business Administration, and transfer to James Madison University in the fall of 2018, graduate in 2020 with my Bachelor’s. I intend to get my Master’s either right after my Bachelor’s or within a few years of my career. I hope to have a job leaving JMU, my first accounting job of my career. I decided to major in accounting for a plethora of reasons, but not what most people expect.
Neuroscience, biology, and biochemistry are currently my front running majors. With a knack for deductive reasoning and quantitative data, I would be well suited for the challenge of research and academic vigor these subjects present. As the University of Michigan is a highly funded research university, I would be able to possibly enter the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program to work with a hands-on learning style: extremely vital to a science major. By giving me the experience and allowing me to access important internship roles through the LSA Opportunity Hub, I would find myself in a place of comfort as my years at Ann Arbor came to a close. My wealth of resources, however, does not end at the classroom doors. With
Attending UPenn would be a monumental step in shaping my future and solidifying the goals I have set for myself. Becoming a veterinarian is a dream of mine and I believe attending UPenn would erase any of my doubts of becoming one or it will guide me to new career path in life. Its flexible and broad curriculum, welcoming and diverse social community, and intellectually and academically challenging classes will all benefit me into becoming an educated and open minded adult.
Given that the vast majority of bioengineering undergraduates at UPenn take part in independent research and that many go on to publish their findings, the tools to excel at UPenn are readily available, and I plan to excel. I find this, more than anything else, to be why I find UPenn to be so appealing. The ability for and even the encouragement of undergraduate students to follow their own path, to design their own trials, and to even publish their results is very captivating to me.
Ever since I can remember I have had an intense curiosity about the world and the people in it. This is probably due mostly to my parents who read to me nonstop but it has fuelled most of my learning experiences and given me a love of the world and of people, and the understanding of both of those. This love was further developed when I began four years of learning Attic Greek and Latin through a classical education. Then, after yearning to go overseas since I was eight years old and saving for it most of the time since then, I made it to England for six weeks this summer. Here my appetite for understanding is being indulged not just with words and pictures but with real world experiences which I can touch, see, and hear. Now, as I near the end of my stay, I am looking ahead to the rest of high school and I have decided I want to make the most of my junior and
In the words of civil rights great Mahatma Gandhi, “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” Receiving an education, in my opinion, is the foremost responsibility of every individual who walks this Earth. Education, however, has different meanings for different people. In some cultures, an education may include learning agrarian or farming techniques. In many other cultures, an education consists of attending primary school, secondary school and later attending college. No matter how the concept of education is prescribed in a given society, this fact remains true: everyone desires to have learned more when they leave this world than they did when they came in. Personally, I desire to receive a college education because I believe that by receiving such an
Driving to Starbucks in Arvada and the weather was calm, cool and collective. It became the most interesting, graceful and intense summer that year. It was summer of 2012 and I sat across my bible study leader surrounded by coffee at Starbucks as she told me to grip the coffee cup. She used it as an analogy as accepting Christ in my life. As I took the coffee cup and accepted Christ as my savior, my life has forever changed and the blessings have been flowing into my life that only GOD can give. I have chosen Colorado Christian University as my choice of college to finish out my bachelor’s degree because I have a strong ambition to chase after a relationship with Jesus. I want to use my spiritual gifts I have been given to spread the love of Jesus
Coming from a family that supports and pushes you to do your best, has been the best encouragement in life. When I had started Kindergarten ten years ago, I was like any other child, ready to learn. It was difficult for me and for other children to successfully learn a whole new language. It is understandable that it was equally challenging for the teachers to help us understand. While some did try, others only assumed it was better to retain those students in the same grade so that they could keep learning.
Moving to college was one of the biggest and most terrifying moments of my life so far. I was absolutely terrified to move out on my own and move away from the life I had always known. But moving away to college has been the best decision I have ever made. I have had an amazing college experience so far. I have met so many people and have been challenged in ways I never even thought possible. I have accomplished some great things like joining Sigma Eta Rho which is a professional fraternity for health professions. I also received the opportunity to become a part of their leadership team. I have joined a group on campus called StuMo, which stands for student mobilization. The goal of this group is to build spiritual leaders for Christ from the college campuses of the world. These things are only a preview of all the things college has brought me, but one of the
I have been a part of the student government for two years; secretary(2015) and treasurer (2016). In addition, I am treasurer for the Japanese club, secretary for the National Honors Society and president of the Math club. Being part of these extracurricular activities has helped me to gain my leadership skills and public speaking skills which I plan to use and grow in when pursuing my
Growing up, parents are your biggest fans and worst critics. My parents have loved me unconditionally and have tried to give me the world. As their child I tried to give them what they wanted in return. I keep my good grades and excel in athletics. I’ll also be the first person in my family to go to college. There’s a point in your life when you realize that you can’t give them the perfect child. Yes I’ve made mistakes and done things that I shouldn't have. I understand the anger, the hurt, and the disappointment that I’ve caused throughout my upbringing. In the end, some parents are more critical than others, and I got the short straw. Making your kid feel like they’re the reason you’ll leave one day kills. This most recent disappointment might be
Born in a country where education is poor, life is hard, and opportunities are very rare, I was fortunate to come with my family to the U.S in search for a better future. I was only eight years of age when my family had to go through much hardship in order to bring my brother and I to this country. My good fortune was accompanied by many challenges such as learning English, getting to know a wide variety of diverse people and adapting to my new environment. It was a hard beginning for me, making it difficult to find the road I was looking for. The people that really support me in every struggle I have experienced ever since I was born are my parents who were and continue to be my biggest influence. I am blessed to have such a supportive and
If someone asked me where I am going to be in ten years, this would be my answer. I will have a great, high-paying job, and beautiful wife and family, and a nice sports car parked in front of my lovely house. When I look into the future, I see myself being successful and happy. Even though I always pictured myself this way, I never worried too much about how I would get there. I feel the Suffolk University can lay the groundwork for making these dreams into reality.
Cornell University was the first college I ever visited. Not knowing what to expect, I was in for a quite surprise. Everything about Cornell made me excited! The location, not being too close to a city, but not far from Ithaca, the friendly and inspiration tour guides, and the memorizing building, specifically the engineering building. My goal as a Chemical Engineer is to help those in society in anyway that I can. The devoted Professors at the
